Chapter 1393: Race Me Baby One More Time
Chapter 1393: Race Me Baby One More Time
Standing by the entrance, Thirteen blinked once, then twice, at the amusement park before him.
The roller coaster was rather far from his location, yet the screams of the people riding it reached him clear as day.
"My father hailed from the world called Earth," Stella explained. "Though the technology there and here have minimal overlap, my father is resourceful enough to find loopholes to make things work."
"Televisions might not be possible to make yet. However, long distance communications with projections powered by magic crystals are slowly gaining popularity in the Ainsworth Empire.
"But I believe it will slowly but surely grow popular across the land, until even ordinary people could talk to their friends from the far end of the world."
Thirteen could hear the pride in the young lady’s voice. After all, her father had indeed introduced these unique ideas to the world.
In fact, the theme park in the Ainsworth Empire was a very popular tourist attraction, entertaining millions of visitors each year.
"Let’s go," Stella didn’t bother lining up in the queue and simply used the VIP gate specifically reserved for their family.
All of William’s children could ride and eat in the different cafes inside the amusement park for free.
There was even a specialized cafe for Maple and Cinnamon. It perfectly catered to their voracious appetite, making them very happy everytime they visited.
"So... what do you want to ride first?" Stella asked as she walked hand in hand with the teenage boy as if it was the most natural thing to do.
"Bump cars," Thirteen replied without hesitation.
"We don’t have bump cars here," Stella replied. "But we do have Go Karts. Will that be fine with you?"
"Yes." Thirteen nodded. "Go Karts are fine."
Stella glanced at Thirteen with a confident smirk appeared. After all, she was one of the top scorers in the Go Kart races.
She planned to take it easy on Zion and not leave him in the dust.
Ten minutes later, both of them were seated in their Go Karts and were waiting for the staff to give them helmets.
But instead of the Staff, a mascot came and handed Stella a pink helmet.
As for Zion, he was given a green helmet shaped like a hat...
Thirteen looked at the hat for a few seconds before shifting his gaze to the Mascot who was busy handing out helmets to the other kids.
"Um, maybe you should have that replaced," Stella said. "I think the staff made a mistake."
The young lady called out to one of the staff standing by and asked him to replace the green hat given to Zion.
The staff glanced at the mascot for a few seconds, but after hearing Stella’s cough, he had no choice but to obey.
As if to compromise, a new helmet was given to Zion. The only thing that made the corner of Stella’s lips twitch was its color.
It was still green.
Even so, Thirteen didn’t care and wore it securely on his head before placing his hands on the steering wheel.
The lights in front of him were starting to blink, which meant that the race was about to start.
Stella gave her companion a glance before holding her steering wheel firmly. She originally planned to take it easy, but she changed her mind.
She planned to win and impress Zion with her driving skills.
When the lights turned from red to orange, all the riders prepared to step on their accelerators.
When it finally turned green, the race finally began.
The kids who were riding the Go Karts were also veterans and have played it many times in the past.
They went toe to toe with Stella until the first curve, where their skills really shone.
Thirteen made the turn last, as everyone else sped past him at the beginning.
However, the teenage boy didn’t seem to mind.
He seemed to be doing some quick calculations inside his head while following closely to the last rider in front of him.
The Mascot who gave Thirteen a green hat crossed his arms over his chest.
His gaze was locked on the rider who had the green helmet and was dead last. If one could see his face behind his mask, they would see a sneer on his face.
’That’s it, Stella,’ the Mascot thought. ’Make him eat your dust.’
Two minutes later, all the riders passed the first lap of the race.
The course of the Go Kart changed every race, which made it very challenging.
There were over a thousand race tracks personally designed by dozens of race track experts whom William hired to increase its competitiveness.
Stella and the other kids were racing on a course that had been newly added to the Go Kart section, so they were not very familiar with it.
However, their skills shone through as they slowly adjusted to the race track, finding ways to maximize their turns and accelerations.
Slowly but surely, Stella took the lead, gaining a considerable distance from her competitors.
As an archer, her sight was sharper than most, allowing her to react faster to the turns, drifting like a professional racer.
While this might be her first time running this racing course, she was confident that no one among his competitors would be able to beat her.
Just as she was about to pass her second lap, something green appeared at the corner of her eyes.
With a loud roar, Thirteen’s Go Kart drifted at the curve at the same time that Stella did.
Perhaps due to her surprise, Stella was unable to adjust her acceleration for a fraction of a second.
But that was all Thirteen needed to take the lead, running a meter ahead of the young lady.
Stella gritted her teeth and turned the wheel, using her experience to try and overtake her opponent.
But who was Thirteen?
When it came to machines, he was second to none.
With every curve and every turn, his lead against Stella gradually widened.
It was as if he was making the perfect move each time, surpassing everyone, including Stella.
A few minutes later, the two passed the third lap, but the distance between them was nearly ten seconds apart.
That might seem short, but in a race, every second counted.
When Thirteen finally reached the finish line, the spectators cheered, impressed by his performance.
Stella was second place, but she wasn’t too happy with the result.
"One more round," Stella said in a serious tone when Thirteen was about to leave his Go Kart. "Race me one more time."
Thirteen blinked once then twice before nodding to accept her challenge.
Three rounds later, Stella was still in second place, with Thirteen setting a new record for the fastest lap in the race course that would never be beaten in the history of Kazo Land.
