Chapter 1442: A Toss Of A Coin

Chapter 1442: A Toss Of A Coin

The battle intensified, but Thirteen eventually overcame their strategy.

After breaking through the combination attack, Thirteen started his counterattack.

He showed no mercy and annihilated everyone who entered his range. Fortunately, no one would really die in the temple of courage.

At most, they would be teleported outside of the arena with injuries intact. However, none of them would be life threatening. This was why there was no reason for him to hold back.

Thirteen’s clone also seemed to understand that the Absolutes were only forced to fight, so he unleashed his strongest attacks to "kill" them as soon as possible, keeping their honors as intact as possible.

The injuries the Absolutes received were serious, which meant that they could no longer continue to battle.

At most, they would need a few weeks to fully recover. This would effectively allow them to evade any future orders from Zaphiel, whose face was livid with anger at the consecutive setbacks that he suffered.

Just when Zaphiel was feeling helpless, Rahab stood up and jumped into the arena.

Belial and Pharzuph looked at the Fallen Angel, who also presided over the Sea. Living in the sea often triggered his clashes with Forneus, usually over territory matters.

Though in the end, both sides compromised thanks to the mediation of the other Fiends and Celestial.

Each was given their own territory to control, and since then, the two no longer bothered with each other.

"Are you going to challenge me?" Thirteen’s clone asked with a smile. "For the past few days, you did nothing but observe my fighting style. Have you found out how to defeat me?"

"Yes, I plan to challenge you. But I didn’t find any weakness in your fighting style," Rahab replied honestly. "You’re very powerful, and frankly, I want to meet the original version of you."

"I see." Thirteen’s clone nodded before taking a fighting stance. "Well, then. Shall we start?"

"Before that, I want to ask you something," Rahab said. "Is there any other way to challenge you aside from fighting you?"

Thirteen’s clone didn’t reply. It simply smiled faintly as if understanding what the Celestial hinted at.

Since his opponent wasn’t saying anything, Rahab took out a single gold coin from his pocket.

"Let’s fight using this coin," Rahab declared. "Heads, or tails?"

Thirteen’s clone snapped his fingers, and the golden coin in Rahab’s hand disappeared. It then reappeared on the clone’s hand, who inspected the coin to see if there was any trick to it.

Seeing it was indeed an ordinary gold coin, he tossed it toward Belial, who was seated in the audience seat.

The Fiend subconsciously caught it and frowned.

"What’s the meaning of this?" Belial demanded.

"It’s simple really," Thirteen’s clone replied. "You will toss it, and whoever guesses whether its head or tails will win."

Zaphiel and Pharzuph couldn’t help but gasp after realizing that there was also another way of doing the challenge aside from fighting!

Both of them wanted to slap themselves silly. They never even considered if that was possible!

Had they known, it would have saved them the shame, and pain of being one-sidedly beaten by the teenager in the arena.

"I’ll choose heads," Rahab said.

"Then I’ll have tails," Thirteen’s clone stated.

Belial blinked once then twice before looking at the golden coin in his hand. It was now up to him whether they won or not.

"Hey, how do I make it heads?" Belial asked Zaphiel.

"I don’t know," Zaphiel replied honestly. "I’ve never tossed a coin before."

The two then shifted their attention to the pretty boy, Pharzuph, who seemed to be the most experienced among them when it came to mundane things.

"I can do it. But I can’t tell you how to do it," Pharzuph grinned before shifting his gaze to Zion. "He tossed the coin to you because he knows you don’t know how to cheat. So don’t worry about anything and just toss that coin already."

Belial frowned before looking at the golden coin in his hand. Right now, it was showing the head, which was what the coin should face in order for them to win.

"Here goes nothing," Belial frowned before tossing the coin toward the arena.

The sound of the coin hitting the marbled floor reached everyone’s ears because their attention was focused on it.

They watched as the coin bounced once, then twice before rolling on the marbled arena. Rahab and Thirteen’s clone watched the coin do a few more awkward spins until it started to wobble.

The end was near, and everyone watched with bated breath as the coin finally lay flat on the ground.

A few seconds of silence passed before Zaphiel stood up and shouted.

"Yeeeeeeeeeees!" Zaphiel raised both of his hands as if he had won the lottery.

Pharzuph gave Belial a thumbs up, and the Angel of Lawlessness looked very smug because he was the reason that they won.

"Hahaha!" Belial laughed. "Just as planned!"

Thirteen’s clone wanted to roll his eyes at the Fiend who was now on cloud nine. But since no one cheated in this simple battle with a fifty-fifty chance of winning, he had no choice but to acknowledge that he was defeated fair and square.

"Here." Thirteen’s clone tossed the two Divine Keys, and the Core that Dantanian had left behind as well.

Rahab accepted the two Divine Keys and took the core gratefully. Since he couldn’t keep the keys with him, he intended to treat the core as a souvenir for this experience.

"What’s the name of the person whose face that you are using?" Rahab asked Thirteen’s clone.

"Thirteen," Thirteen’s clone replied. "But he’s better known in the world as Zion Leventis."

"Zion Leventis..." Rahab muttered the name as if to make sure that he wouldn’t forget it. "I hope I meet him in the future."

"Oh, you will," Thirteen’s clone smirked. "You definitely will."

"I will?"

"Yes."

The words of the clone sounded like a prophecy, but Rahab was thrilled at the thought of meeting the teenager in real life.

Although he didn’t believe that Zion would just be as strong as the final guardian of the temple of courage, he still wanted to meet the person that had made Zaphiel desperate.

With the challenge officially over, the clone turned into particles of light and vanished completely.

In a deserted island located at the eastern seas of the continent, Dantanian shouted in frustration.

He couldn’t believe that his idol lost to a simple toss of a coin.

However, Thirteen only smirked after the Fiend contacted him to relay what had happened in the Temple of Courage.

’It seems that Fate is getting impatient,’ Thirteen mused. ’Either way, I’m almost done with my preparations.’

He only needed a few more days to complete the formation since he had the help from Forneus’ army that had come to the island due to the Immortal Fiend’s orders.

They helped him transcribe the runes in locations that were deep under the sea, which he couldn’t be bothered to visit.

After telling Dantanian to stay put for a few more days before returning to the Fortunate Isles, Thirteen returned to his task, which was nearing completion.
