Chapter 460- Cerberus
Chapter 460: Chapter 460- Cerberus
Sharp, jagged bone protrusions jutted along its spine. The creature had large bat like wings with crimson veins that collided against the pillars of the hall as they flapped.
The creature appeared like it came from hell, no matter how you looked at it.
However, that was not the worst part. When the squires looked above its neck, they were able to see three nightmarish heads looking and snarling at them. Each head was wolf like and had longer fangs.
Black smoke and saliva continuously leaked from between their teeth. The eyes of the creature glowed in three different colors: crimson, violet, and emerald.
There was no doubt; the creature in front of them was...
"A Cerberus!!" The snobbish squires cried out. They were so afraid that they fell on their butts, wetting their pants.
Dignified squires of knight orders showing such an unseemly sight. Usually, the other squires would be repulsed by their behavior. However, this time they did not say anything. After all, the creature in front of them was an S rank monster.
A legendary creature that should have gone extinct hundreds of years ago. What was it doing here?
Kevin looked behind; the thing the creature was trying to cover, or rather protect.
The needle!! Could it be that it was guarding that thing?
[Be careful of the...] At that moment, he remembered [Tiamat]’s words that remained unfinished. It was trying to tell him something, but couldn’t complete it in time before falling asleep.
Perhaps the thing it was trying to say was [Be careful of the guardian].
"Kevin, get a hold of yourself." From the side, Gwen called out to him.
The creature was preparing its attack. Each of its heads opened wide; a complex magic circle appeared in the middle of each of them. Three circles. Three elements. Three spells being prepared at once.
The creature was capable of casting independent spells with each head! What’s more, given the power bestowed within each of these spells, which even severely distorted the space, it could be seen that all of them were high ranking spells.
A power that could obliterate them instantly if hit.
Stark and the others were just about to disperse when they saw the squires from the Temple of Light still standing in their place.
What are they doing? Anyone could tell that standing in one place like that was suicidal. So why?
The answer was something he understood the next second.
Finished charging its spell, the Cerberus naturally locked its target toward where there were the most people: the squad.
BOOOM... At that moment, the legendary monster’s jaws snapped open, and three beams ripped through the hall.
A searing crimson breath that melted the marble floor.
A violet-black lightning bolt that burned and spread spider web like patterns on the floor.
And another sickly green acid breath that dissolved anything it touched.
The three attacks that were like storms of destruction blitzed toward the squad.
At that moment, Kevin moved. His body acted purely on instinct; legs kicking off the floor, sword already rising. A deep, ancient presence stirred inside the blade.
"Release - [Tiamat]." He cried out.
GROAARR... The crimson sword, responding to his wish, issued a roar. The sword transformed, turning into a massive dragon like maw, lined with fangs and formed of condensed energy.
The maw opened wide, and in a single terrifying sweep, it devoured the three high-rank spells like they were nothing but mist. Sizzle... Sizzle... The air sizzled, still supercharged with the magic. The Cerberus’ beams vanished completely.
So what if they were facing a legendary monster that had gone extinct hundreds of years ago? So what if they were facing an S-class monster? What they needed to do did not change.
They had to disrupt the needle to stop all of this chaos.
As they all stared at Kevin slowly retracting his sword back, their jaws hit the floor. All the squires, even Stark with the exception of the squad, made stupefied expressions.
Who wouldn’t? They literally just saw Kevin’s sword eat three high ranking spells as if they were cotton candies.
"D-Did he just eat a high ranking class spell?!"
"What kind of sword does that?!"
"Is he even human?!"
As it turns out, Gwen and the others did not move because they were suicidal; no, they did not move because they had enough confidence in their friend to predict his movements. They all knew Kevin was going to do that.
"Focus!" Gwen snapped. "This isn’t a fight where we can afford to get distracted!"
Their enemy was a monster far stronger than them, so much so that even True Knights would find it difficult to take down the monster. A Cerberus wasn’t an opponent squires on their level could handle, much less fight it while distracted.
Gwen’s shout snapped everyone back. That’s right, there was no time to be shocked. The Cerberus was already starting to move; its multi headed roar shook the hall.
The battle exploded again.
Gwen moved next, creating waves to distract the monster. As she surfed in the water, her movements were fluid, and her attacks were fierce.
Slowly but surely, her skills were starting to show further growth. That was not all; her sword also moved in any direction as she wished, an indication that she was not far away from attaining the state of [One with the Sword]. Now all she needed was time and the opportunity to go into the Zone.
Gwen’s flashy and powerful attacks quickly stole everyone’s attention. However, she was not the only genius in here.
Stark dashed in, leaving fiery trails. The two swords on his body blazed with extreme heat.
SLASH... The next second, he executed his blade technique, reaching a critical threshold of over 3000 °C.
The strikes grazed the Cerberus’ front leg, showcasing its incredible defense. The beast slid back half a step, but only half. Seeing this, Stark clicked his tongue and attacked again.
Rolan shot in from the left; his blade was covered in holy light. The strike he made carved a burning line across the middle head’s snout.
