The Adventures of an Overpowered Knight in Another World

Chapter 498- Spirit Realm & The Fairy King Asterius

Chapter 498: Chapter 498- Spirit Realm & The Fairy King Asterius

The King glanced at her before quickly shifting his gaze away. Her words sounded normal and the demeanor of her body, while still as beguiling as ever, did not suggest any of the carnal activities she went through in his dreams. However, he knew the truth; she hid it all.

"Don’t tease him anymore. Aren’t you afraid what would happen if he really loses it?"

In the mind realm, the Queen argued with her twin soul, Minerva. Right now, both of them were sharing control of the body; as such, it could be said that the woman was both the Queen and Minerva at the same time.

"Heh, look at him, getting hornier by what he saw. A pathetic man like him really thought he could lay claim to our body? My punishment is light to say the least. Anyway, don’t worry; from this moment on, he would not dare to ever plot against you."

At that reply from her other half, the Queen could only sigh.

"Your Majesty, there is a situation in the capital that needs your attention. Everyone is waiting for you in the Audience Hall." She spoke, changing the topic.

"I see... I’ll get there soon." The King answered while maintaining his back profile towards her. Right now, he was so painfully hard and ashamed that he could not even look straight at her. The last thing he wanted was to be found out like this.

"In that case, I’ll send the maids to help you get ready."

"No... there is no need. I can manage myself" His reply was quite fast and sharp.

"Then I’ll take my leave." The Queen excused herself.

Just as she turned around and began to leave, she heard the King mutter, "... wait."

"Is there something wrong?"

"N-Nothing." He wanted to ask her if she really did it with Reinhardt. However, he didn’t have the guts to ask and could only dismiss the issue.

The Queen bowed and exited the place. She was fully aware of why the King refused to let the maids in, and it was honestly sickening. Nonetheless, she did not care. She never recognised this man as her husband.

Right now, there was only one man in her life, and that was Reinhardt.

The Audience Hall had never felt so crowded. Rows of high ranking officials stood shoulder to shoulder, seven commanders in full regalia, their closest adjutants behind them, ministers, elders, and every influential figure within Solaris who could be gathered on such short notice.

Their attendance without any absences showed the gravity of the situation.

At the slightly raised platform where the throne stood, the Queen sat poised and refined. Her lavender dress pooled at her feet, accentuating her beauty. But the throne next to her was empty.

The Crown had declared an emergency assembly to address the inexplicable event that had swept across the capital. Even after the knights had moved tirelessly through the streets to calm terrified civilians, uncertainty still hung over Solaris like dark clouds that no sunlight could penetrate.

Everyone had fallen asleep at once, and the populace, shaken to their core, demanded an answer. And so everyone who mattered had been summoned.

Yet the King was still dilly dallying, making everyone wonder if the former understood the seriousness of the matter.

"Your Majesty, we cannot wait any longer."

From the side, a minister finally spoke. His face was tense from the pressure of delivering a childish message to the kingdom’s top brass.

"What did His Majesty say?"

"He... is still saying that he will be right out."

The same answer he gave more than an hour ago. Just what was the King so occupied with to even put this important assembly on the back burner?

A few people blinked. Some exchanged glances. Others grimaced. The notion of a King hiding behind a door while his country awaited his presence would have been comical if not for the tension suffocating the room.

Just as it was starting to become overwhelming to wait for him, the door opened, and the King walked in. Usually, his presence would be accompanied by an inborn royal aura and his strides full of authority. However, all of this was absent from the person at this moment.

His golden crown sat crookedly on his head, as though he had put it on in a hurry. His eyes were sunken with fatigue, his hair unkempt, and his clothes slightly wrinkled. There was no pride in his posture, as if he were no king but an ordinary human.

Everyone exchanged glances; however, no one had the gall to point it out.

After the King sat on his throne, the assembly began. Ministers came forward with their questions.

"Your Majesty, the people are anxious. The incident that occurred yesterday caused the entire capital to fall into an unnatural sleep. They deserve an explanation. And we owe it to them to provide clarity."

All eyes fell towards the King; however, he looked awfully distracted, his face dazed and flushed.

The Queen, sitting beside him, sighed and uncrossed her legs. She then stood up and addressed the assembly. Her voice left no room for argument.

Some nobles frowned; they were those who clung to outdated customs where the King alone led the court. But the majority bowed their heads silently. After all, the Queen had always been the one steering the kingdom.

When Solaris needed leadership, it was always her who came up with solutions.

The Queen who turned a stagnant kingdom into a rising power, who enacted reforms that saved hundreds of thousands, and who held the loyalty of knights, commanders, and citizens alike.

The Queen officially began the meeting. She started by recounting the events that everyone was more or less aware of.

How the phenomenon began, the strange sensation that swept over soldiers and civilians alike, the overwhelming drowsiness, the sudden collapse into unconsciousness, the eerie quiet that followed, and so on and so forth.

After that, she called forth the knights who were involved in the initial response.
