Chapter 536- Progress In [Divine Beast Summoning] (2)
Chapter 536: Chapter 536- Progress In [Divine Beast Summoning] (2)
One knight stepped into the circle.
"Slowly, do not push your mana outward. Let it flow... as if you’re breathing, imagine extending your presence." Reinhardt instructed from the side.
The young knight nodded and did as told. The moment his mana aligned correctly, the runes carved into the array lit up. The formation began to rotate, spiraling light upwards.
Soon the lights began merging and forming a projection above the head of the knight.
"!!!"
At that instant, all the members of the Temple of Light opened their eyes wide, their attention plastered to the image above.
There, suspended above the knight was the projection of a huge ivory skinned elephant, its body covered in faint golden sigils, trumpeted silently in the air. Its tusks gleamed like polished marble.
Reinhardt glanced up. "Divine Beast: Sanctified War Elephant. Element- Holy, Class- Guardian. Mid-tier."
He turned to the knight and explained. "The Sanctified War Elephant has exceptional endurance and is ideal as a frontliner and siege weapon. It may not be fast, but once it advances, very little can stop it. It is perfect with the class and build you are going for."
"O-Oh." The knight nodded, feeling a little lost and giddy.
Then, after those emotions settled down, what surfaced was excitement and a strong drive to master the [Divine Beast Summoning].
After him, more and more knights stepped onto the formation.
The new recruits were given the first chance to bolster their motivation.
After them, it was in order.
The holy knights stepped forward first.
Bob stood before the formation and exuded his mana. Bright light flashed and a projection was created for everyone to watch.
"This is..."
Everyone gasped, especially the new recruits.
The reason was simple, they had all stepped into that formation, bringing all kinds of phenomena and projections. However, this time, the light exuded by the array was on a whole different level.
The impact was so great that everyone instinctively realized something, the beast that was about to appear would be in a tier of its own.
The reality was just like they predicted. When the light coming off from the formation settled, it revealed a giant snow-white hawk that looked like it was made of solidified sunlight.
The hawk had golden markings on its body and its appearance was grand and regal. Even though it was just a projection and that the real thing was not here, its appearance still increased the temperature of the area.
"Divine Beast: Skywarden Hawk. Element- Wind, Class- Guardian. Even among the High tier, it is exceptional and belongs to the ruling class. Haha, an excellent summon."
Reinhardt explained, though his words sounded more like praise.
Just as they thought, the array made such a phenomenon because a high tier beast projection was summoned.
Up until now, most of the new recruits were only able to summon low tier beast projection, with a few mid-tier mixed in between.
That was the highest, that is up until now.
The new recruits, undisciplined as they were, wore their expression on their faces. Looking at the giant white hawk, they couldn’t help but get jealous. However, when they realized that it was one of the Holy Knights of the Order who summoned it, they came to terms with themselves.
Be that as it may, the surprise they felt did not disappear a bit as one powerful summon after another came up.
A stone backed tortoise, its shell layered like fortress walls.
A towering stag with antlers that branched like a cathedral of light.
A floating school of glowing fish, swimming through the air as if it were water.
One after another, the visions came.
Reinhardt stood by the side and explained the tier and power of each beast. His eyes would from time to time contain some slight surprise at the affinity of the summoner.
Even though every beast was tiered, they were all unique and offered different strengths. Even if it was a low tier, a summon would amplify the power of that knight.
Even Reinhardt was like that, so one could imagine the shock the audience and the summoner himself were feeling.
The high tier summons were quite impressive. However, the truly powerful ones were about to appear.
Zerina stood inside the circle. At that instant light burst forth from the array, causing people to instinctively cover their eyes.
The light was so brilliant that it even attracted the attention of the city which was starting to become active in the early morning.
In the training field, everyone looked awed and wide-eyed at the huge projection that appeared above Zerina.
A massive, sleek black panther whose fur looked like it was made of millions of micro crystalline shards of obsidian. Its body was covered in numerous violet markings and its eyes, noble and feral, gave a powerful intimidation.
Reinhardt gave Zerina a lookover before speaking in a deep voice.
"Divine Beast: Xiphos, Element- Gravity, Royal Class, Sacred Tier."
SILENCE.
The crowd was too taken aback by the looks of the panther in the projection to realize the significance behind his words.
Though when they did realize it, they were once again stunned.
Good Gods, it is a sacred tier. The tier that was said to be the highest by their commander.
To think that Holy Knight Zerina would summon one!! The crowd was shocked for a good while.
Reinhardt did not give any explanation like he usually did; the word Sacred Tier was enough. It spoke volumes about the power of the beast and at the same time the affinity of the knight.
After Zerina, the high ranking knights stepped up. Though they achieved impressive results, when compared to earlier, it was still a little lackluster.
That said, the shock did not end there. Soon, it was Silvia’s turn to step in the formation.
Just like the time with Zerina, the array started rotating rapidly and a glaring light burst forth. A moment later, to the shock and awe of everyone, a projection suspended above.
A huge albino colored serpent with blood red eyes and wings hissed at everyone. It was covered in mist and bells, its form half visible, half vanished.
GULP... Everyone took an involuntary gulp.
If the panther earlier gave a regal and noble form of intimidation, then the serpent before them caused them to feel inferior. The intimidation it gave was cold and sharp.
As if a predator was stalking them.
"Divine Beast: Gorgon Serpent... Element- Mist, Royal Class, High Tier. It is an extremely cunning, control type beast and has the power to disrupt the battlefield and create strong illusions. Silvia, in the future you need to be careful of the Gorgon Serpent"...
"If you haven’t tamed it, do not summon it during a battle as it might just try to kill you and your friends." Reinhardt explained.
However, this time, his words did not just contain information on the beast, but also a warning. His words made the members of the Temple of Light who were all excited from the summon face a cold harsh truth.
Even if they managed to acquire the skills to learn the [Divine Beast Summoning], the beasts were powerful intelligent creatures with will. If their own spirits were strong, they might just put themselves in danger.
Silvia nodded, looking determined.
After her, it was Vangeance’s turn to show his affinity. Then it was Rolan, Gwen, Delicia and the others.
Once all the members were done learning about their affinity and the type of beast they can summon, Reinhardt called out to the shadow underneath him.
"Karina, you give it a try too. It’s always a good thing to have additional means during a fight."
As an assassin, Karina might be at the top of her field. However, that was from the perspective of humans. Demons were not so easily assassinated, especially the ancient and ruling class.
Summoning a beast would no doubt also be beneficial for her too. Besides, now that he was determining the beast affinity of everyone present, he kind of wanted to know the kind of beast that she could summon.
On his order, Karina skillfully emerged out of his shadow and walked towards the array.
Looking at her, the new recruits bunched their brows, looking slightly fazed. They did not sense her presence when she appeared and even now as she walked towards the array.
Who was this person?
While they were slightly alarmed by the sharpness of her presence, they did not speak out and continued to observe.
Karina stood before the formation and channeled her mana in a specific way. Following which the array burst forth with a powerful light. Just like the instance with Zerina and the others, the phenomenon brought forth by the formation was in a league of its own.
Having seen it already, everyone instinctively knew that the beast summoned forth was Sacred tier. However, the moment the projection became clear, a strange silence settled over the place.
The reason being the bizarre black cloud hovering above Karina’s head.
