Chapter 554- Please Take Me With You
Chapter 554: Chapter 554- Please Take Me With You
"First Primordial Light, it gladdens me to meet you again."
The Spirit King bowed, giving the respect it gave when it saw him for the first time.
Reinhardt reciprocated the respect. "It is good to see you as well, Spirit King Asterius."
After the exchange of pleasantries, Reinhardt spoke about the reason for his visit.
"My world is being devoured by demons. The mana lines are polluted, and the lands have fallen into corruption. I intend to plant the Origin Seed you entrusted to me and raise a new World Tree. But I neglected a crucial requirement"...
"The seed of origin can only be nurtured by a High Elf priestess. And in my world, such a being may no longer exist."
Asterius listened in silence, his aura ancient and clear.
"The demons might have killed all the members of the Elfenheim’s Royal Family in the Great Catastrophe hundreds of years ago."
Finished explaining, he asked the question he came here for.
"Is there any other way to nurture the Origin Seed into a World Tree?"
Regretfully, Asterius shook his head. "You speak the truth. Very few races possess the ability to resonate with a World Tree. The High Elven priestesses are among the most compatible. Without such resonance, the seed cannot awaken."
The confirmation struck harder than any denial.
For the first time in a long while, Reinhardt felt hesitation creep into his thoughts.
Is nurturing this Origin Seed really impossible? Is there no way to revive the World Tree in his world?
Just as he was doubting his plan, Asterius spoke again.
"However, the First Light need not abandon hope. There is still a High Elf in your world. One who carries the qualification to become a priestess."
Reinhardt’s eyes snapped up. As the guardian of the Divine Tree Yggdrasil, he knew that Asterius’ judgment could not be wrong.
Then it must mean that a High Elf still lived in his world.
Did the royal family of Elfenheim somehow survive the purge of the demons and pass down their bloodline? It could be the only logical answer.
"Where is this person?"
Asterius shook his head.
"Although I am able to peer into the myriad worlds thanks to Yggdrasil linking all of them, your world’s corruption is extremely severe. Additionally, without a World Tree, even the mana veins of the planet are being poisoned. I can peer into it no further"...
"That said, rest assured that you will meet her soon. The seed in your hand will lead you to her."
The Spirit King pointed at the Origin Seed in his hand.
"Just like how only a High Elf priestess can resonate with the World Tree, the World Tree too can sense her. When the time comes, it will lead you to her."
Reinhardt nodded. As long as there is still a hope of reviving the World Tree, he would not give up on it.
After thanking Asterius, he bid his goodbye and returned to his own realm.
While returning from the Spirit Realm, Reinhardt’s thoughts were much clearer. He finally knew what he must do.
With a thought, the Spirit Realm folded away.
.
The next instant, Reinhardt was back inside the chief’s house.
As usual, no one noticed that he had quietly slipped away into the Spirit Realm earlier. Barely a couple of seconds had passed in the mortal world.
Eldrin and the others were still struggling to process the fact that the revival of the World Tree was no longer possible even with the Origin Seed.
After opening his eyes, Reinhardt first glanced at the seed in his hand.
If before he did not pay much attention to its fluctuating vital energy, now he could distinctly feel the difference.
Just by moving the seed around him, the fluctuations of the vast vitality within the seed increased or decreased.
In one direction, the fluctuation spiked abruptly. This was no doubt the seed trying to resonate with something or someone.
Based on the information he got from Asterius, he believed that the seed was showing him the direction where the last priestess of this world was.
Among the crowd, Elina seemed to be deciding something intently. Moments later, she took a step towards Reinhardt and pointed at her chest.
"Lord Reinhardt, since it is a priestess you require, then allow me to try."
What?
Everyone looked at her in confusion.
Elina took a deep breath and explained with resolve. "I may not be a High Elf. But I am female, and I am the highest-ranked warrior among our people. I know the rites, the song, and every verse passed down for nurturing the World Tree"...
"I cannot confidently say that I can revive the World Tree, but I refuse to let this opportunity slip away. Not after everything you’ve done for us."
From rescuing them from demons to giving them land and status. He had done so much for them that the demi-humans were deeply grateful to him.
And now he even brought back the Origin Seed, which by all means should have disappeared hundreds of years ago along with the fall of Elfenheim.
Elina didn’t want to betray his hopes, and thus after thinking, she took the responsibility upon herself.
The room fell into silence. Everyone present weighed their options.
Eldrin, Elina’s husband, was torn between hope and uncertainty.
Reinhardt listened quietly, then shook his head.
"No."
His refusal caused Elina to widen her eyes in shock. She opened her mouth in an attempt to give him reassurance when Reinhardt raised a hand, interrupting her.
"Do not misunderstand, your resolve is admirable. And your courage, unquestionable. However, there is only one Origin Seed."
He looked at the seed in his hand.
"This is not a gamble we can afford to take. If the attempt fails, there will be no second chance."
Hearing this, everyone nodded in agreement. They understood his logic, but it was just hard for them to accept, especially when the seed was in their hands.
Elina also clenched her fist and looked down.
The atmosphere in the room seemed all grim.
It was then that Reinhardt gave them hope.
"More importantly, there is no need to take such a risk. The royal bloodline of Elfenheim still lives."
As if a bomb had been dropped, everyone opened their eyes wide in revelation.
"W-What did you say?"
Doubting his hearing, Eldrin asked again.
Reinhardt smiled and confidently declared. "Don’t worry, the royal bloodline of Elfenheim was not completely eradicated. There is someone in this world with the potential to become the next priestess."
Elina’s breath caught in her throat and Eldrin’s eyes trembled intensely.
This time, they heard it clearly; there was no mistake.
The royal family of Elfenheim still lived.
A High Elf who carried the purest blood.
Everyone, be it the knights who heard about the tragic history of the continent and Elves, or the similarly displaced, they were all shocked by Reinhardt’s revelation.
However, their shock paled in comparison to what the two elves were feeling.
Because the presence of someone still carrying the blood of the Elfenheim royal family didn’t just mean the revival of World Tree, it also meant the revival of Elfenheim.
"W-Where is that person?"
After his initial shock subsided, Eldrin immediately asked. In his haste, even his manner of address shifted subtly, highlighting the invisible weight of hierarchy that a High Elf priestess carried.
All eyes turned to Reinhardt who shook his head slowly.
"I don’t know."
Even with the Spirit King’s confirmation, the location of the priestess remains unknown. She could be in one of the Seven Kingdoms or in a minor nation beyond their borders. There was no way of knowing.
His gaze dropped briefly to the Origin Seed. The only way to find her is to follow the resonance between her and this seed. That said, even this method had limits.
The resonance between the seed and the priestess was extremely faint and sometimes untraceable. He didn’t know why that was.
It could be because of the distance, or maybe some other factor was influencing either of the parties.
When Reinhardt thought till here, he couldn’t help but get a bad feeling.
Reinhardt rose from his seat.
Now that he was done what he came here to do, or rather knew that it couldn’t be accomplished easily, he decided to take his leave.
.
.
Near the village gates, just as Reinhardt, along with his knights, was about to step into the carriage, the sounds of hurried footsteps came from behind.
"Lord Reinhardt!"
Turning around, he saw that it was none other than Elina.
She stood there, slightly hunched, out of breath. Her position accentuated her voluptuous breasts and the mesmerizing milky peaks that glimmered from droplets of sweat.
Her loose hair, sharp emerald eyes, and skimpy leather armor, plus with her natural elven physique, every inch of her was a sight to see.
After she bowed toward Reinhardt, she immediately requested.
"Please take me with you."
Everyone was taken aback, even Reinhardt.
