Chapter 753- Cattles for Slaughter, the Powerful Sacred Sanctum (4)

He wanted them to see the results of his work. More importantly, he wanted to see the expression on their faces when they realized that he had succeeded.

That the path they had rejected was the correct one. That he had surpassed them all.

Revenge... that’s what he wanted. He had waited for this day for too long.

Lacking talent, he could not join a respected knight order. His achievements and talent weren’t recognized. His bloodline was mediocre, so he could not rise up in ranks like nobles did.

Power, fame, wealth... he was being denied all.

So he could only put all of his efforts into researching, finding a way to become powerful without being constrained by the shackles of the world.

That tragic past would be washed away today by his own hands.

"Enough waiting, attack."

On his command, the strange humans standing behind him immediately straightened.

"Show them the power of the [Stigma] I bestowed on you all."

All of them nodded. Then one by one, the markings across their bodies lit up. Black veins spread across their skin. Their bodies convulsed. Bones cracked and muscles expanded. Their spines bent violently as horns erupted from their skulls.

Several people screamed; some laughed, feeling the power surging within them.

Within a few seconds, their transformations were completed.

BOOM...

A wave of demonic energy erupted across the camp. The humans previously standing behind Victor were no longer human. Their bodies had become monstrous, their auras terrifying. Every single one possessed strength comparable to an average Demon General.

Victor’s eyes gleamed with satisfaction.

"Beautiful."

These were his successful products. Some had once been researchers who worked beside him. Others were experimental subjects he had gathered from all over the world. Some were even former knights.

Having said that, their original identities no longer mattered. What mattered was the result. The Stigma on their bodies.

Normal bodies cannot handle the Aether Factor? Then simply replace the body with one that can.

Even after modifying and strengthening the body until they looked like hideous Frankenstein’s monsters, the problem remained the same.

Since that was the case, then simply abandon the body. If the flesh could not endure evolution, then replace it. Transfer your consciousness, mind, and memories to a new vessel.

Capable of enduring the Aether Factor, there were plenty of suitable vessels. The bodies of fallen heroes. The physiques of powerful warriors. Bodies that had already been tempered by extraordinary amounts of energy and trials.

Only such bodies can carry Aether Factor without being destroyed from the inside.

Why waste such valuable material?

Victor chuckled and spread his arms as if embracing the coming of a new era.

"Why should the body determine the limits of the mind? Humanity has always feared changing itself. Today, they will see what happens when someone finally embraces it."

More than eight bodies transforming at the same time created a power shockwave that stirred the wind and clouds above.

Naturally, the commotion didn’t go unnoticed. Knights rushed from every direction of the camp and swiftly surrounded them. Weapons drawn, they confronted the enemy.

"Demons? They have infiltrated the camp!"

"Surround them. Don’t let them advance."

"Someone go and inform the commanders!"

Within moments, Victor and the others were surrounded.

Victor merely glanced at the welcoming party. Most of the strongest knights were currently fighting at the demon encampment. Most of the Heroes and Extreme Knights were there.

That left this camp relatively undefended. At their level of power, there shouldn’t be anyone capable of stopping them.

At least, that’s what Victor thought.

"Kill them."

He adjusted his monocle and gave a command.

Immediately afterward, the Stigma-enhanced demons charged. The ground exploded beneath their feet. And the human camp descended into chaos.

Victor laughed.

Just as he had expected, the knights were no match for the Stigma-enhanced demons. The human soldiers were retreating. Though not fleeing in panic, but still retreating nonetheless.

Step by step, allowing Victor’s creations to advance deeper into the camp.

"Do you see this, humans?"

Victor spread his arms, his voice swelling with triumph.

"This is the power of evolution! Your bodies are weak. Your limits are pathetic. You spend decades tempering flesh that can still be destroyed by a single attack. You cling to outdated techniques, outdated bloodlines, outdated concepts of what a human being should be."

He touched the Stigma carved into his neck.

"But I rejected those limitations. I discarded the weakness of humanity and replaced it with something superior. The Aether Factor is not a curse. It is the next step."

Hahaha... he cackled like a villain rambling his monologue, assured of his victory.

"Soon, every human will..."

But then he suddenly stopped.

Something was wrong.

He noticed that the knights were retreating far too calmly. There was no panic in their eyes or desperation. Instead, they were moving in a strangely deliberate manner. Almost as though they were guiding the demons inside.

Victor narrowed his eyes.

What is going on? What are the humans planning?

Right then...

BOOM...

A tremendous explosion erupted from another corner of the human camp. Through the gaps between the tents, Victor caught sight of Varakos and his group of demons advancing.

The two groups briefly exchanged glances. Varakos’s expression barely changed. Victor, however, narrowed his eyes.

This isn’t right. The humans had allowed them to penetrate this far without any fight? This did not seem like them.

Instead, he was more sure now that they were being led inward.

But why?

Victor considered the possibility of a trap but immediately dismissed it.

Even if it was one, what could the humans possibly do? Most of their strongest fighters were attacking the demon encampment right at this moment. And even if a few powerful knights remained behind, Victor’s Stigma-enhanced creations were comparable to Demon Generals.

Plus, with Varakos and the demons he led, they should easily be able to turn this place upside down.

Not to mention directly below them, underneath the ground, was the Blightheart Colossus.

No matter how he saw it, things were in their favor. There is nothing to fear.

Victor’s grin returned. Whatever the humans were planning, he would simply destroy it with brute force.

"Continue advancing."

The demons surged forward.

Right as they approached closer to the camp, a voice sounded out.

"They arrived. It went exactly as Reinhardt said."

The voice was coarse, even harsh to the ear.

Right after that, another voice sounded out. This one was calm and amused.

"Well, we sure have lured in some big fish."

Hearing those voices, Victor’s pupils instinctively contracted.

A figure stepped out from between the tents. He wore armor so crimson that it almost appeared to have been forged from a sea of blood. Every step carried a heavy, suffocating aura, with blood-red energy pervading the air, land, and atmosphere.

Beside him walked another knight. His armor was considerably lighter, his body lean and almost slender in comparison.

More disturbing was the fact that Victor could barely sense him. There was no sound from his footsteps. No obvious aura. It was as though the man did not exist at all.

What was truly dangerous was that if the knight attacked them, he wouldn’t even sense them coming at all.

Victor’s expression became serious.

The two beings in front of him were knights that he knew very well.

"Achilles Ironheart." An infamous knight from the kingdom of Drakmor.

Then his gaze shifted to the other one.

"Cassian Nightfall." Similarly, a famous knight from the kingdom of Paradoxis.

Two heroes.

Victor had not expected them. Humanity had actually left two powerhouses behind to guard their camp while launching their main assault against the demons.

Should he say they were arrogant or simply reckless?

Although their appearance was unexpected, it was hardly enough to change the situation.

Victor’s lips curled.

"So they left you two behind, huh."

Achilles glanced at Victor with his closed helm, staying silent, while Cassian frowned at the appearance of Victor among the demons.

"You know us?"

Victor snorted.

"Not particularly. However, I believe you guys know me."

He was about to introduce himself when he heard another voice intervene.

"Oh my! So everyone has gathered, huh? I also sensed that thing nearby."

It was a woman’s voice, soft and pleasant to the ear. But more importantly, it was a familiar voice.

Victor froze.

For some reason, hearing that voice sent an inexplicable chill through him. His entire body trembled.

Varakos also stopped his advance as if stopped by an unknown force.

Then at this moment, a woman slowly stepped out from the center of the camp.

Her silver hair flowed over her shoulders, catching the light like strands of torches nearby. She wore a deep blue ceremonial dress trimmed with gold, white fabric framing her shoulders and trailing behind her like a veil.

Golden ornaments decorated her attire, while white stockings and dark boots completed the elegant appearance. She had a curvy figure and an alluring body.

Clean, serene, and breathtakingly beautiful.

These were the first words anyone would have when looking at her for the first time.
