The Beginning of Natural Disaster, I Won by Hoarding Tens of Billions of Supplies

Chapter 206: Making Friends

Chapter 206: Making Friends

For two years, natural disasters have passed, and the batteries of the safe alarm system have been depleted. It no longer emits the piercing sound.

In one safe, there’s gold, and in another, there are jewels and gemstones.

In the past, Jiang Ning would have been overjoyed, but now she couldn’t find it amusing.

Her premonition had come true; the space stopped growing and no longer swallowed these things.

Huo Yishen took them out and examined them carefully, “They’re real.”

For Jiang Ning, this was already a great opportunity, and she had already stocked up on most of the necessary supplies, so her mindset was much more optimistic.

Since the space didn’t want them, she graciously accepted them first.

With over three hundred pounds of gold and plenty of jewels and gemstones, she could wear different ones every day now that she had the chance.

The space was already not small; the black soil garden covered more than 20 acres. She hadn’t had time to organize the supplies, so they were piled up everywhere, leaving little space for actual planting.

She needed to tidy up these days and try to clear out a large area to start planting.

After all, having food in hand doesn’t mean she can’t panic.

To survive until the end, she still lacked many hardcore lifesaving supplies.

Huo Yishen planned to teach self-defense to the people in the Aoyuan community early tomorrow morning.

Although there were only over a hundred people, everyone wanted to learn to protect themselves. It was said that even a seventy-year-old grandfather had signed up.

With a mixed group, it’s hard to achieve results. He personally went down to select people, “Let them come in batches, and give the opportunity to the young and middle-aged first. They are the main force in protecting our homeland.”

Even if they hadn’t made it onto the list, no one else dared to say anything.

In the extremely hot weather, it was already bright by five o’clock.

Huo Yishen got up, Jiang Ning lost her sleepiness and got up to brush her teeth and wash her face.

Doudou rubbed her sleepy eyes continuously.

Jiang Ning was puzzled, “Doudou, why don’t you sleep a little longer?”

“I want to be with my brother and teach them boxing.”

Huo Yishen explained, “Those people have no foundation, it’s hard to teach them. Let Doudou stimulate them a bit.”

Since we want to create gods, we have to let the gods stay on the altar. It is not good to have too much contact with people.

Jiang Ning agreed with his idea and made soy milk and buns for breakfast.

Doudou was very obedient. She finished eating and didn’t forget to brush her teeth and rinse her mouth, so that others wouldn’t smell the meat in her breath.

The dog, Coke, sneaked around Doudou, trying to take advantage of the situation.

Jiang Ning raised her eyebrows, “Coke?”

Coke turned his head away, obediently coming back to squat down, looking very aggrieved.

“There’s nothing I can do. You’re so handsome that people want to commit crimes just by looking at you.” Jiang Ning comforted it by patting its head, “Let’s stay at home obediently and not try to test people’s hearts.”

With nearly a hundred pounds of meat, even immortals couldn’t resist the temptation, let alone mortals.

“Endure it for now. When we buy a villa in the wealthy district later, you can do whatever you want then.”

Only then did Coke behave, resting its head on her leg.

After watching medical videos for an hour, Jiang Ning stretched lazily on the balcony and happened to see He Tianming taking a walk, with a teddy bear following behind him.

It was a brown teddy bear, thin and weighing only a few pounds, but it looked lively.

For the first time in two years, Coke saw its own kind, and it barked and scratched at the glass.

“Do you want to go down to play, or do you want to fight?”

Jiang Ning felt it wanted to fight; if it went down, the teddy bear would be in trouble.

Not only He Tianming, but many people in the neighborhood cherished this time before sunrise, as it was the coolest time of the day, so they went out for a walk around the neighborhood.

There were middle-aged and elderly people as well as children.

One of the children also had a pet—a mouse.

He tied it with a thin rope and treated it like a treasure. He did not forget to pick sweet potato leaves for it to eat, which attracted many children to watch.

It had been so long since Jiang Ning had heard children’s laughter. They were tanned by the sun, yet so radiant, making Jiang Ning’s mood much brighter.

From their chatter, Jiang Ning discovered that there was actually a school in the neighborhood, with teachers appointed by He Tianming and a few retirees.

Classes were held every two days, with no tuition fees, just to keep themselves busy and maintain a positive outlook on life, which was beneficial for mental and physical health.

“Hurry, hurry, hurry! Yesterday, that heroic uncle was at the sales office. His sister is so cute, and she’s particularly good at martial arts. She’s teaching my brother now. Let’s go see…”

It was evident that the children were relatively well-protected by their parents, and with the timely counseling from He Tianming, a psychologist, the residents mentality was quite healthy.

Compared to the outside world, the children weren’t as negative or sinister; there was still light in their eyes.

They learned about the events two days ago from the adults, knowing that the handsome hero uncle had appeared. Even the mouse was forgotten as they rushed to the sales office.

The elderly didn’t join in the excitement, but when passing by Building 5 during their walk, they noticed the newly installed gate and the glass on the fourth-floor balcony, sparking quiet discussions.

It was far away, so Jiang Ning could not hear what they were talking about, but the faces she observed through the binoculars were rich and experienced in their own ways, but much friendlier than the survivors outside who were like zombies.

Huo Yishen returned at eleven, his body was fresh without any sweat, while Doudou’s cheeks were flushed, wiping the sweat off her forehead eagerly, “Sister, I taught people how to box today.”

Jiang Ning promptly encouraged him, “Doudou, you’re teaching now? That’s awesome.”

The little girl became even happier, “I taught them military boxing. They couldn’t do it well, so my brother let me correct them one by one…”

At first, she was afraid, but her brother insisted that she teach.

Only then did Doudou realize that she was even better than the adults; they couldn’t even defeat her, and their punches lacked power and accuracy.

At first, they looked down on her, but later, they all praised her.

At the end, because of their applause and request, she even did several somersaults.

“Sister, someone wants to be friends with me. Is it okay?”

As she said this, Doudou looked at Jiang Ning, her eyes filled with both longing and unease.

Jiang Ning thought for a moment, “Do you want to be friends with them?”

Doudou was a bit confused, “I, I think so, but not really.”

Humans need social interaction, especially with peers. What Doudou lacked most now wasn’t combat prowess but life experience and social skills.

However, people’s hearts were unpredictable in the apocalypse, and getting too close to others, especially those with different backgrounds, could lead to trouble. Besides, Jiang Ning had her own secrets to keep.

Although Doudou’s current personality is steady now and she never asks questions that she shouldn’t ask, that’s because she meets fewer people. What if she got too carried away with her peers and accidentally revealed something?

Jiang Ning passed the ball to Huo Yishen, “You ask your brother.”

If it were her child, she would let them play with peers appropriately, but not for too long. It was important to relax while remaining vigilant.

Educational challenges were better left to the biological brother; she wanted to worry less.

Mentioning his brother, Doudou instantly wilted, bowing her head and not daring to speak again.

She felt that her brother wouldn’t agree.
