The Beginning of Natural Disaster, I Won by Hoarding Tens of Billions of Supplies

Chapter 219: Super Strong Earthquake

Chapter 219: Super Strong Earthquake

Huo Yishen expressed his doubts concisely.

He Tianming pondered, realizing something indeed seemed off. “Don’t worry, there’s a retired employee from the Meteorological Institute in Building 2. I’ll contact him immediately. You guys start packing.”

After hanging up the walkie-talkie, Huo Yishen swiftly gathered their belongings. “Doudou, grab the first aid kit.”

Doudou wanted to help with packing, but he didn’t allow it. “Stay in the room, don’t move.”

The two of them were not slow in their actions. They packed up furniture and such quickly, while Huo Yishen took care of the air conditioning.

As they were almost done packing, the walkie-talkie suddenly crackled. “Comrade Huo, Little Jiang, gather your things and assemble outside immediately. There’s a high possibility of an earthquake.”

After hanging up the walkie-talkie, He Tianming immediately found Yang Jie. “Take my bike and go to the neighborhood committee. Inform them that an earthquake might happen and they should contact the municipal authorities.”

Aoyuan had wells, mice, and dogs, which could detect earthquake precursors in advance, but not everyone else might know.

Yang Weimin chased after them as they left the house. “Be safe, hurry!”

He Tianming immediately broadcasted, instructing residents to evacuate urgently. “Only take essential supplies and move to the designated open space outside the neighborhood.”

Their belongings were already packed. He grabbed the bag and hurriedly went downstairs, not forgetting to take the megaphone to continue his announcements. “Hurry, saving lives is the priority. Don’t take any unnecessary items.”

As soon as they came out, they saw Huo Yishen driving a Hummer towards them. He Tianming was taken aback. “Brother Huo, the earthquake might come soon, why are you still driving?”

“My relatives have elderly members who can’t move easily. We need to go there.”

He Tianming had organized everything well, so there was nothing to worry about in Aoyuan. The Hummer quickly left the neighborhood.

The evacuation site had been chosen earlier. Huo Yishen’s driving skills were unquestionable as they sped along the scorching road.

Fortunately, the tires were heat-resistant and friction-resistant; otherwise, they would have melted.

After passing through provincial and national roads, they headed to a remote area.

In less than 20 minutes, the car arrived at an abandoned factory.

Huo Yishen got out of the car, leading Doudou ahead through the factory towards a large expanse of wasteland at the back.

Jiang Ning took the opportunity to store the car in the space.

The weeds were withered, becoming fragile under the scorching sun, crumbling at the slightest touch.

The dog looked alert, patrolling around the desolate land.

Huo Yishen and Doudou were no exception. They dared not to relax.

Jiang Ning turned on the radio, which repeatedly broadcasted emergency messages from the municipal government, warning that a major earthquake could strike at any moment, urging residents to evacuate to open areas outside.

After triple-checking to ensure there was no one around, Huo Yishen and Jiang Ning stood together, while the dog played with Doudou.

Doudou turned around and saw a huge orange escape pod behind her, the same one used during the previous tsunami.

Used to such sights, she looked up at her brother.

Huo Yishen opened the pod door. “Doudou.”

One had to admit, the family version of the escape pod was indeed humanely designed. They even considered the child seats.

Huo Yishen helped her fasten the seatbelt and put on the impact-resistant cushioned helmet. “Don’t be afraid, brother is right here with you.”

Doudou nodded. “Brother, sister-in-law, I’m not afraid.”

There wasn’t a special seat for the dog, but Jiang Ning had specially made a dog headgear, sewn from coral velvet and cotton, in case the earthquake impact was too strong to protect its head from injury.

After some effort, she put the headgear on the dog, only revealing its mouth and eyes… well, it looked hilariously ugly.

Doudou was stunned, they couldn’t help but laugh.

Jiang Ning took out her phone and snapped a picture of the dog’s funny appearance.

Sensing something was off, the dog protested by scratching its headgear with its paws.

Protesting was in vain. Jiang Ning fastened her own seatbelt.

As she was halfway through fastening it, she suddenly felt her body sway.

The escape pod had a gravity shock absorption device, and its weight was relatively heavy, so ordinary vibrations were hard to notice, unless…

The earthquake is here!

The two glanced at each other and quickly fastened their seatbelts.

“Coke,” Huo Yishen ordered.

The dog leaped up and he hugged it tightly.

“Doudou, tighten your hold though the handrails,” he said.

As vibrations shook the ground, Jiang Ning’s body was enveloped by the soft seat, her hands tightly gripping the handrails.

The escape pod swayed like a pendulum, rocking from side to side and front to back irregularly and the vibration continued to escalate.

Jiang Ning could even feel her muscles vibrating.

Through the round glass window, the scene outside kept shaking and flickering rapidly.

In the distance, she saw the abandoned factory trembling.

And the next moment, it collapsed with a roar…

A four-story building, thousands of square meters of factory space, after enduring floods, extreme cold, and extreme heat, now resembled a shoddy construction project in the face of a major earthquake.

One moment it seemed stable, the next it collapsed right before their eyes.

The walls cracked rapidly, like a fast-forwarded video, cement beams shattered, and bricks fell…

The overwhelming force hit, causing the escape pod to tilt forward violently, flipping at a 90-degree angle. If not for the tightly fastened seatbelts, they would have kissed the ground instantly.

“Ow…”

Animals are most sensitive to danger. Witnessing the power of nature, even the brave dog was frightened, letting out a mournful cry.

Huo Yishen stroked the dog’s head. “Don’t be afraid, we’ll be fine.”

As soon as he finished speaking, the entire escape pod was thrown up and then crashed down heavily.

“Brother,” Doudou’s face turned pale with fear, “sister-in-law.”

Huo Yishen anxiously asked, “Doudou, are you hurt?”

Doudou was fine, just uncontrollably scared.

The escape pod shook violently and it’s taking a while to stabilize.

Outside the glass pod, the factory was in ruins. After being frozen and then exposed to the sun, the forest had a large amount of dead wood, and the soil loosened, causing a corner to collapse. Mud and dead trees slid down like a mudslide, exposing large patches of yellow soil, and the cracks visibly widened…

Before they could catch their breath, the escape pod tilted and rolled, then suddenly sank downward, getting stuck.

The intense earthquake tore the ground apart, and ravines spread continuously.

Half of the escape pod sank into the ground, wedged in the air by the ravine.

Above, was the blue sky.

Below, were deep ravines.

Doudou was still shaken and trembling with pale lips, but finally she found her voice after a while. “Are we going to fall?”

Jiang Ning reassured her, “Even if we fall, we can live in the escape pod for a month, and then someone will come to rescue us.”

As soon as she finished speaking, a large rock from nowhere crashed heavily onto the escape pod.

Under the impact, the pod sank a little further.

Inside the pod, it was terribly quiet, with only the sound of their breathing audible to each other.

The three of them hung suspended in the crack caused by the earthquake.

Jiang Ning asked, “Doudou, are you feeling unwell?”

“No,” she replied, despite her fear.

As long as she was fine, with Huo Yishen by her side, Jiang Ning appeared particularly calm.

When the earthquake actually occurred, the previous anxiety seemed to disappear.

The dog lay tightly in the trainer’s arms, its nervous eyes following the movements of the shovel.

Seeing that she wasn’t afraid, it also breathed a sigh of relief.

The escape pod hung in mid-air for more than ten minutes. Jiang Ning couldn’t help asking, “Has the earthquake ended?”

As soon as she finished speaking, there was another violent shaking, and with the soil, the escape pod plummeted again…
