When the thugs swarmed up. If the four people hadn’t been strong and fierce, their supplies would have been stolen.
The main problem was that the thugs arrived in waves. One day, one group would come, and another day, another group would show up. This kept everyone on edge, unsure of when danger would strike next.
Jiang Ning frowned deeply. The house they bought was in the third phase of development, no longer in the new city’s center, but near the border with Yuecheng, Fengchen’s military and police forces were primarily concentrated in the city center and also needed to protect important units and factories.
There was a significant manpower shortage, and the surrounding areas were the hardest hit.
After careful consideration, Jiang Ning said, “I bought two apartments opposite the police station, thinking that if the villa ever fell, we could move there for refuge.
For now, this place is relatively safe. We can free up one apartment for you to stay in. We’ll figure out the rest after this wave passes.”
Opposite the police station? That was indeed the safest place.
When they initially bought their house, they had considered that area too. They thoroughly inspecting the surroundings but couldn’t find any second-hand houses.

Qin Chuan had given the walkie-talkie to Sharp-mouthed monkey, and they often stayed in contact. He mentioned that the people from Aoyuan were getting along well, and under Yang Weimin’s leadership, the building was quite secure.
So, Lu Yu and the others took their supplies and weapons and headed to the apartment opposite the police station.
Two hours later, the walkie-talkie crackled with Sharp-mouthed monkey’s voice, “Sis, there are four people here mentioning your name, wanting to move in. Is this legit?”
“Yes, that’s right.”
Jiang Ning gave the names, heights, and appearances of Lu Yu and the others, “They are friends I trust with my life. Please take care of them.”
Once confirmed, Sharp-mouthed monkey and the others let them in, “Don’t worry, sis. Your friends are our friends.”
When Huo Yishen returned from duty, Jiang Ning told him about this.
Huo Yishen had no objections. They had bought those two apartments as a precaution, hoping they’d never need to use them. Now, helping Lu Yu and the others wasn’t a bad thing.
During dinner, he mentioned, “Mrs. Chen and her daughter from Building 36 seem to have left. Only the two boys are home. They were attacked by mobs and injured, and without medicine, they couldn’t get treated. The patrol found the boys already dead when they checked in.”
Jiang Ning said nothing. She just quietly eats her meal.
A starving camel is still bigger than a horse. If Mrs. Chen wanted to save them, she probably could have found a way to get medicine.
The natural disaster was cruel, with people dying every day. She had few emotions left and could only share them with a selected person.
One month into the eternal night, there was good news from the Agricultural Science Institute.
The Fengchen Agricultural Science Institute successfully developed plants that could grow with minimal light. They had also arranged for people to collect them, and the plants would be distributed in three days.
The government advised against going out during the eternal night. Survivors were to collect supplies as a community, traveling together for safety.
After discussion, the community decided to collect the supplies.
This surprised Jiang Ning, but it was understandable.
A cunning rabbit has three burrows; the rich wouldn’t put all their eggs in one basket. They had secret bases for supplies, but the villa could only store enough for a year or so. Many residents had lost a lot of supplies due to mob theft.
Even wealthy families were running out of food.
They don’t know how long the Eternal Night will last, so everyone is panicking and tightening their belts to survive.
But it was too dangerous outside. Bringing the supplies back was a big problem, so they all pinned their hopes on the Rong family.
The Rong family was in a tough spot. Their RV was too conspicuous, and going out would almost certainly lead to being torn apart.

Upon learning that only he and Third Young Master Rong would go, Jiang Ning couldn’t trust this flamboyant young master, “I’ll go with you.”
They left the children at Qin Chuan’s house and set out fully armed.
Third Young Master Rong was even more exaggerated, wearing a bulletproof vest, helmet, night vision goggles, and a military coat with seven or eight guns and a few grenades underneath.
Jiang Ning rubbed her temples, saying nothing.

After waiting in line for over an hour, it was finally Guangming New City’s turn.
The institute had developed an edible moss and it’s black in color.
It felt rough to the touch but was extremely cold-resistant and thrived in the dark. It grew quickly with minimal light, and could be transplanted onto decayed wood or soil.
A staff member explained through a loudspeaker that the black moss should be kept in a room with appropriate humidity.
Guangming New City collected two large burlap sacks of the moss, which were loaded into the trunk.
Third Young Master Rong was eager to show off his driving skills and itching to take the wheel, but the others ignored him.
However, Jiang Ning made a detour to the school. The Traditional Chinese Medicine Research Institute’s station was temporarily closed, and it was pitch dark inside.
With the eternal night lasting three years, it meant this place would be closed for three years too.
Luckily, Ma Guangnian had once said that Jiang Ning could always go to Yuechen to find him if needed.
Chaos was everywhere, and there were too many butterfly effects. She hoped he was safe.
On the way back to the community, they suddenly encountered a robbery and looting scene, with over a hundred mobs reveling in chaos.
