Chapter 542: It Would Be a Waste Not to Take Advantage of It!
The two of them were sharpshooters, and with their exceptionally accurate gun skills and the silencer in place, several people dropped to the ground with headshots.
Jiang Ning stored the bodies in her space.
The people above sensed that something was wrong. They called down a few times but received no response.
Muttering to themselves, they drew their weapons and began making their way downstairs.
In the darkness, Jiang Ning concealed herself at the bottom of the stairs.
A total of four people came down. Upon seeing the bloodstains in the corridor and the open door, they instinctively glanced over…
Jiang Ning shot from behind, taking them all out.
After collecting the bodies, she cautiously climbed to the deck.
To her surprise, there was a large cargo ship ahead. Seeing that there was no movement on this side, the people over there were shouting while waving torches.
It was a perfect opportunity. She had been thinking about the cruise ship left behind at the Huacheng Base, but who would have thought a large cargo ship would come right to her.
It would be a waste not to take advantage of this!
Receiving no response, they sent another group.
The cargo ship was huge, with over thirty people just on the deck. It wasn’t clear how many more were below.
Some of them had guns, but their skills varied, likely having taken the weapons from others.
The two retreated to the lower cabin to wait for an opportunity.
When the first group of attackers didn’t respond, the people on the other ship got a bad feeling. Could this be a ghost ship?
They were pirates, after all, and had seen all kinds of things over the years. They’d survived countless bloody battles.
In the past year or so, there were fewer and fewer survivors at sea, and those that did survive landed as soon as they encountered land. It had been three months since their last robbery.
If they didn’t get something soon, they’d be out of luck.
What were ghosts afraid of? They were scared of running into something valuable, especially when the crew might want to keep it for themselves.
The leader was getting impatient and quickly sent a second group over.
This time, Jiang Ning didn’t hide under the stairs. Instead, she used the cover of the night to crawl and lie down at the front of the pirate ship where the iron hook was caught.
She heard the sound of climbing from outside, likely seven or eight people.
When they were close enough, the two quickly hid in the space.
Around three or four minutes later, they quietly appear.
Jiang Ning took out a silenced gun, and Huo Yishen tossed some fuel bombs at the cargo ship.
With his extraordinary strength, his actions were swift. He threw two bombs before tossing in a tear gas grenade.
The pirates were already on high alert. The last group had just reported no one was on the fishing boat, when suddenly, gunshots rang out.
The attack was sudden, and it was hard to see clearly in the dark.
Then, there was a loud explosion, and flames erupted around them.
The pirates scrambled to take cover, but after the left side exploded, the right side followed. Several pirates were caught on fire and screamed as they dashed around like headless flies.
They quickly retreated, hiding behind whatever cover they could find, but the air was filled with a strong, foul odor.
Pirates in the downwind direction covered their noses, but the smoke still brought tears to their eyes.
The number of people on fire increased, and flames engulfed the cargo ship.
At this point, Jiang Ning had already finished off the second group of pirates, taking both them and the ship into her space.
Judging by the poor equipment, it was clear these pirates weren’t professionals, just people who had turned to piracy out of necessity.
They were likely from a regular evacuation ship, part of a state or city operation, who had turned to piracy after facing all kinds of challenges and the brutal environment of the sea.
But Jiang Ning didn’t let her guard down.
A few pirates, desperate to escape the flames, burst out and started shooting at the fishing boat.
They fired several rounds before realizing there was nothing out there.
“Wait… what the hell?!”
The pirates were stunned, their jaws dropping in shock.
Once they snapped out of it, they hurriedly went to put out the fire.
But gasoline is not something that can be extinguished at will.
After they failed to put out the fire, they went to find their leader, but couldn’t see him anywhere.
Damn, the guy on fire… looks like him!
They scrambled to rescue their leader, but he was burnt so badly he couldn’t even speak, his body was a blackened mess. He wasn’t dead yet, but he probably wouldn’t last long.
In total, around ten people had died from burns, and with the ghost fishing boat disappear, they had lost more than half of their crew.
The group was leaderless, and they were both angry and terrified. This was cursed!
After so many robberies, they never imagined they’d fall into this trap.
The remaining pirates exchanged glances. After a brief argument, they confirmed there were no fishing boats in the area. A chill ran down their spines.
“Let’s go. Right now, immediately!”
They had been drifting with the current, but now, they didn’t care about conserving fuel. They quickly turned the ship around and left the area.
The cargo ship turned around in the dark, pushing its engines to the max.
The surviving pirates cleared the deck, throwing the burned and badly injured comrades into the sea.
As they threw the bodies, they all silently agreed to toss the leader as well.
After all, there was no saving him. Whether they threw him over now or later, it made no difference; he’d die soon, and maybe it would be a relief.
Excluding the crew, only about 20 people remained. After throwing the leader, everyone had their own thoughts.
But they were all tired. And what if the ghost ship came back?
“We’ll deal with it after we leave this area.”
They decided to leave the area first and think about it later.
What they didn’t know was that something was following them from below the surface.

As the first light of dawn appeared, it was the perfect time for sleep. The wind started picking up at sea, and though the waves weren’t huge, the boat rocked slightly.
Suddenly, an eagle’s claw flew up, securely grabbing the ship’s rigging, and a fully armed figure quickly climbed up.
Jiang Ning thought she might face some danger, but to her surprise, it was easy for her to land on the deck.
Through night vision goggles, the two of them spotted two pirates asleep in the shelter at the far end of the deck.
They were supposed to be on lookout, but having relaxed their guard after leaving the ghost ship, or maybe with so many people dead and no one to take over, they were snoring loudly.
Jiang Ning approached and quickly dealt with them.
She swapped her dagger for a thermal weapon, and the two of them, using the cover of night, searched the deck. They discovered that besides the two on watch, there were no other pirates. It seemed this crew wasn’t very large.
They signaled to each other and headed down to the lower deck.
Just as they reached the second floor, they suddenly heard a loud scream, and it sounded like something intense was happening.
Jiang Ning was surprised. It seemed like someone was finally getting what they deserved.
Having grown used to being the one to pick up the pieces, it was rare for her to be on the other side of things, and she couldn’t help but feel pleased.
They didn’t rush down, instead waiting at the staircase.
The screams grew louder and sounded like they were similar to the cries of slaughtered animals.
The weapons being used seemed very primitive since they hadn’t heard any gunshots.
After about an hour, Jiang Ning’s ears were ringing. This kind of thing happened every day, so she’d already become immune to it.
After waiting a bit longer, it finally quieted down.
They went down to the second floor, and the smell of blood hit them immediately.
Blood splattered on the hallway walls and floor.
One of the doors was open, and Jiang Ning stood at the threshold, seeing the gruesome scene inside. The man on the bed had been hacked to death.
The way he died showed either a deep personal grudge or that he was unarmed.
They kept searching, finding all the victims in a similarly brutal state.
She understood now—it was with primitive weapons.
After searching thoroughly, they found about 20 bodies.
But where were the killers?
Passing by another room, Jiang Ning spotted a tattered national flag lying on the floor.
So it was Gao Lu.
No wonder she hadn’t recognized it earlier.
Jiang Ning pondered for a moment before heading toward the control room…
