The Beginning of Natural Disaster, I Won by Hoarding Tens of Billions of Supplies

Chapter 600: Sister Ning, do you know her?

Chapter 600: Sister Ning, do you know her?

Around noon, the lead vehicle made a new discovery. There was an American military camp up ahead…

To be precise, it was a joint military force.

In addition to the American flag, there were flags of other countries as well.

Worried about being spotted, Jiang Ning quickly put the vehicle back into her space and then found a location to scout.

From the look of the tents and setup, there were probably a few dozen soldiers stationed there, and they were equipped with heavy weapons.

Then something farther off caught Jiang Ning’s eye. Workers were putting together a simple structure that looked kind of like an igloo from the outside. A faint stream of black smoke was rising from it.

Looking ahead, she saw several metal oil drums being loaded into a truck by the soldiers.

Jiang Ning suddenly realized, the Americans really had good luck; they had discovered oil and had already started refining it.

She stared at the dark, barren land in the distance. If she guessed right, that was likely an open-air oil field.

As for the rough-looking setup they’d built, it was probably the most basic kind of distillation pot used to extract and separate crude oil.

She had to admit, the Americans were really good at industrial work.

Huang Mao and the others also noticed the open oil field in the distance. They looked so envious it was like they were about to drool.

They seriously wanted to take over that base.

Giving that kind of resource to the Americans was such a waste.

But no one forgot their actual mission—finding the Fire Seed Container was more important.

The oil could wait. They believed they’d come across more eventually.

The team circled wide around the camp and kept heading toward the coordinates.

Once they reached a safe distance, they brought the Hummer back out.

They drove until evening, with the sky gradually getting darker.

Based on their pace, they’d reach the coordinates by tomorrow morning. Jiang Ning was just about to suggest they stop and rest when the lead vehicle suddenly dropped into a sand pit with a loud thud.

It happened so fast that Huo Yishen slammed the brakes and reversed immediately.

The vehicle tilted halfway, but thanks to quick reflexes and the Hummer being built for desert terrain, they managed to pull back safely.

There was no time to rescue the vehicle stuck in the trap. Everyone jumped into defensive mode.

A loud “bang” echoed as the vehicle window was hit.

Luckily, it was a high-end American-style vehicle with bulletproof glass. The window was completely fine.

Huang Mao and the others were all experienced special forces. Just by the angle of the shot, they could tell exactly where the bullet had come from.

They adjusted the mounted weapon system on top of the armored vehicle and let loose a burst of bullets in that direction.

After that, everything went quiet.

Xu Kaitai used the moment to climb out of the sand pit and found a place to take cover.

Jiang Ning, wearing a bulletproof vest, got out from the other side. She jumped into the pit to retrieve the Hummer, then moved it to a safer spot down the slope before taking it out again.

They had plenty of weapons and ammunition. If they didn’t take out this ambush, there’d be no way to get the Fire Seed Container.

Two armored vehicles moved in a pincer formation, rumbling toward the direction where the enemy was hiding.

Using the Americans’ own weapons against them, it was a test of whether the spear or the shield was more powerful.

However, what was strange was that the Americans usually relied on overwhelming firepower, but today they had only fired a single shot, which was highly unusual.

Everyone stayed on high alert. The weapon platforms on the armored vehicles kept rotating, scanning nonstop.

Then suddenly, another bullet came flying and hit the weapon platform.

But the platform was made of reinforced steel, so it didn’t take any damage at all.

One of the vehicles fired a long-range rocket. It landed several hundred meters away.

A burst of fire and scorched earth exploded in the air.

As the dust settled, a group of people, camouflaged in desert-colored clothing, rapidly retreated.

Their clothes were tattered, and they were holding several broken guns, shooting as they retreated.

Jiang Ning froze. “Wait, that’s not Americans!”

Out of caution, they didn’t fire their weapons to turn them into scrap. Instead, the two armored vehicles circled around.

Even the fastest legs can’t outrun four wheels.

The group was quickly surrounded, with bullets flying at their feet.

If they ran, they’d be riddled with holes.

They all stopped, glaring back with anger and hatred. Armed, they stood their ground against the armored vehicles, refusing to surrender.

Well, looks like we’ve got some tough ones here.

Huang Mao took out a military loudspeaker and threatened them in English, “Drop your weapons, surrender and we won’t kill you.”

To his surprise, the group’s leader, a woman, was particularly tough and cursed, “If you’re going to kill us, then do it quickly!”

Jiang Ning’s eyes lit up. She didn’t expect the leader to be a woman.

She might be thin, but she was pretty tall. And her English? Well, not the best.

Having lived in the scorching desert for years, they were all tanned, with skin dry and cracked, and it was hard to tell their ethnicity at first glance.

Jiang Ning scanned them. There were more than 30 of them, their weapons all over the place—some American-style, some Chinese, and even a few with iron rods.

Huang Mao wasn’t having any of it. “Keep talking tough, and I’ll turn you all into meat paste.”

The woman wasn’t intimidated. “How about a one-on-one?”

Oh, so now she’s trying to provoke him.

Huang Mao couldn’t help but feel his hands itching to get out of the vehicle and teach her a lesson.

Huo Yishen warned, “Be careful. She might have a grenade strapped to her. What if she uses it to threaten us?”

“Come on, Commander, you don’t think much of her, do you?” Huang Mao chuckled.

They were professionals. Counter-terrorism was just a basic skill for them.

Huo Yishen didn’t stop him. “Just be careful.”

Huang Mao stepped out of the vehicle and walked confidently towards her, making a gesture with his finger. “Come here.”

To his surprise, she really did approach.

Without another word, the two went straight into combat.

And honestly? She moved fast, and her punches were strong.

But despite Huang Mao’s usual boasting, his skills were no less impressive. Just as she tried to pull out the grenade to threaten him, he got to it first, snatching the grenade away and pressing the gun to her forehead.

“Sister, this thing’s dangerous. You shouldn’t be messing with it.”

He said it with a teasing tone.

What a shame. No matter how good her skills were, it didn’t matter against him.

Huang Mao twisted her neck with one hand, a slight pressure enough to break it, and asked the stubborn group, “Still not going to drop your weapons?”

The group, frustrated and reluctant, finally threw their weapons to the ground.

Huang Mao barked, “Put your hands up.”

They silently refused. Huang Mao was about to pull the trigger, ready to show the hostage some blood.

But then Jiang Ning suddenly got out of the vehicle, “Stop!”

She walked over directly, her eyes locked on the woman whose neck was being held by Huang Mao, and she murmured, “Zheng Weili.”

The woman froze, her eyes widening in shock.

Jiang Ning and the others were fully disguised—American-style boots, military uniforms, their faces painted with thick camouflage paint.

They were all tall, so for a moment, it was hard to tell who they were.

But Jiang Ning’s voice was still recognizable.

Zheng Weili, on the other hand, was barely recognizable. She looked terrifyingly thin, her hair sparse and yellow like dried grass, her skin darkened by the sun, and her throat cracked, like it was desperately lacking water.

The misunderstanding had them thinking they were American soldiers, so there hadn’t been any Chinese conversation before.

But when Jiang Ning recognized the familiar fighting style, she started to realize who it was.

Huang Mao froze for a moment. “Sister Ning, you know her?”
