The Beginning of Natural Disaster, I Won by Hoarding Tens of Billions of Supplies

Chapter 621: The Battle Is About to Break Out

Chapter 621: The Battle Is About to Break Out

Jiang Ning didn’t want to overthink things, but there were only so many good fish out there, and Rong Tingting’s eyes were sharp.

She really liked this young girl, but when it came to men… how should she put it, they could easily ruin a friendship between women.

Doudou and Tingting were completely different in personality, but they got along well. It’s hard to find true friends, and Jiang Ning just wanted Doudou to be happy.

“Sister-in-law, I know.”

There was indeed someone playing both sides. If they couldn’t get through to her, they’d try their luck with Rong Tingting instead.

Though she was protected, Doudou had seen a lot.

Aside from her brother and sister-in-law, she didn’t open her heart to just anyone.

It wasn’t that men were fickle; given the serious gender imbalance, if they couldn’t reach the first choice, settling for second-best made sense.

Jiang Ning gave her new clothes, and then the two women gathered for a photo session, dressed like wealthy ladies, their fingers sparkling with gems they’d gotten from a big-shot family.

Huo Yishen, who was being completely ignored, “…”

On the first day of the new year, the music from the square woke everyone up.

Shu Xueqing had come early to help warm up the food, knowing there would be many visitors for New Year’s greetings.

It wasn’t long after they had eaten that the first guests arrived.

First, military leaders, then government officials.

Huo Yishen and Jiang Ning worked together, welcoming the guests smoothly, much to Gu Tinglin’s satisfaction.

Yu Changzheng’s family came at a good time. After some time recuperating, Yu Yin looked much better.

Yu Changzheng had arranged a clerical job for her in the government, but to everyone’s surprise, Yu Yin declined. She expressed a desire to work at the farm instead.

The couple didn’t push her. Since the farm helped her relax, they were content to let things unfold naturally.

On the other hand, Commander Xiao had visibly lost some weight. He looked tired but forced himself to stay alert.

He Tianming and Chief Ling arrived a bit later with their team. By then, a lot of people had already gathered.

The military team was just about to leave when a sharp alarm suddenly blared across the base.

An air raid warning!

The highest level of emergency alert.

Everyone’s faces changed, especially the military defense commander.

Gu Tinglin’s study had an encrypted military radio. Commander Xiao urgently contacted the coastal defense unit. “What’s going on?”

No sooner had he spoken than a loud roar echoed from above.

Jet fighters were flying overhead, and not just one.

Jiang Ning, standing in the yard, quickly took out binoculars.

The jets were moving so fast that she couldn’t make them out clearly.

The coastal defense unit responded urgently, “Report to Commander Xiao, two American aircraft carriers and a nuclear submarine are approaching. Fighter jets have entered our airspace.”

The aircraft carriers were 200 nautical miles from Fengcheng, with three jets taking off from the carriers.

The jets were likely armed with live ammunition, and if they dropped anything over Fengcheng…

Commander Xiao’s face changed instantly. “Activate emergency plans, take them down…”

Gu Tinglin’s face was grim as he issued a sudden order, “Shoot them down!”

Commander Xiao was stunned. He barked out a sharp order, “Shoot them down! Make sure no civilians get hurt.”

No one expected Americans to come all this way just to stir up trouble—especially on New Year’s Day.

Things got serious fast. The military’s encrypted channel lit up, and high-ranking officers began evacuating in an orderly fashion to avoid getting caught in one sweep.

Fengcheng didn’t have bomb shelters. Jiang Ning was worried they’d figured out where she lived. What if a missile hit her house?

Thinking fast, she shoved Gu Tinglin and Shu Xueqing into the bulletproof armored vehicle parked in her yard.

Doudou jumped in, and Huo Yishen buckled up.

Gu Tinglin’s expression was cold and calm. “Head to the port.”

The navy kicked into emergency mode. Warships that had been quiet for years at the deep-sea port suddenly came to life. Electromagnetic cannons slowly lifted into position.

Track, aim, lock on.

The guidance system activated. Ten times the speed of sound—no need for traditional ammunition.

The moment the first warship fired, a fighter jet in the sky was instantly pierced through.

Black smoke trailed behind it as it spiraled down at high speed and crashed into the ocean.

The cannon immediately locked onto a second jet. Once they confirmed it wouldn’t fall in a populated area, they fired again without hesitation.

Things escalated quickly. The third jet turned around and tried to escape.

In no time, it had flown dozens of kilometers. Just as the pilot breathed a sigh of relief, the wing was suddenly blown apart…

At the same time, another warship raised its cannon, aiming straight at American aircraft carrier 200 nautical miles away.

Fighter jets loaded with missiles scrambled into the air.

Several nuclear submarines also set out to sea, forming a tense standoff with the enemy fleet.

It didn’t matter who fired the first shot. Even if one side could take the other out multiple times, they’d still face retaliation.

Dying once or dying over and over—it made no difference. The end result was the same.

Everyone had their sights locked. The battle was right on the edge of breaking out.

Gu Tinglin and Commander Xiao rushed to the port and boarded the deep-sea carrier without wasting a second.

Huo Yishen and Jiang Ning provided escort, exchanging looks and silently communicating, puzzled by the American’s strange actions.

Sure, they might still be hiding a lot of firepower, but there was no way they could destroy Fengcheng in one strike. So why come in acting all high and mighty?

Even if they somehow succeeded, there was still Huacheng Base to deal with. Being attacked from both sides wouldn’t end well for Americans.

This sudden strike could only mean one of two things: either they found out the truth behind the deaths at the fake US base in the Arctic, or they were retaliating against the special salvage team for destroying the oilfield and taking the Fire Seed Containers.

But no matter which it was, it still didn’t make sense for them to start a war out of nowhere.

Fengcheng wasn’t some pushover. This kind of move would just drag both sides down.

The encrypted military channel stayed open. Other commanders quickly joined in, holding an emergency meeting to figure out what the sudden airspace violation meant.

The military had long been aware of the special recovery team burning the American’s open-air oil field. Moreover, the oil field had been discovered first by the surviving people of China, and based on the principle of “first come, first served,” it was the Americans who forcefully took it.

Even taking a step back, the coordinates where Americans was currently stationed? Historically and archaeologically, that area had always belonged to China.

Commander Xiao was speaking passionately. Jiang Ning nearly laughed but forced herself to stay serious.

All eyes stayed on the frontlines. They continued discussing tactics and possible responses.

Two hours passed quickly.

The fighter jets brought back the latest news: the Americans requested peace talks.

Three of their planes had been shot down, and their military was practically coughing up blood.

“Damn rabbits, they actually fired!”

They’d come all this way with a big show of force, not to start a war, but to pressure the other side and take back what they believed was theirs—to get justice for their fallen comrades.

The whole grand setup was just to look tough and seize the upper hand in talks. But who could’ve guessed China would actually open fire?

“Damn rabbits. Those shameless Chinese people…”

They never dared before; how dare they now, how dare they!!!

With their jets blown out of the sky, electromagnetic cannons locked onto them, missiles surrounding them, and anti-air systems tracking every move. The Americans were on the brink of madness.

They’d never been humiliated like this—not even Huacheng Base had dared to go this far. So what gave Fengcheng the guts?

One of the commanders in charge clutched his chest in pain, clearly having a heart attack. His face twisted in agony as he shouted, “F-FUCK!”
