The Beginning of Natural Disaster, I Won by Hoarding Tens of Billions of Supplies

Chapter 642: Extra – Gu Tinglin

Chapter 642: Extra – Gu Tinglin

“The Song family went bankrupt, and you weren’t there.”

“I got pregnant, and you weren’t there.”

“I miscarried, and you still weren’t there.”

The woman’s crying and complaints filled the air, making Gu Tinglin groggily open his eyes. He stared at the woman in front of him, confused.

When he finally recognized her, his eyes widened in shock.

The woman was young and beautiful, dressed in the latest Chanel collection, with flawless makeup that even her tears couldn’t ruin.

She was really young, only in her early twenties.

Gu Tinglin’s head throbbed painfully, and everything around him seemed to spin. How did he end up here?

In his final days, his daughter and son-in-law had been by his side, promising to take good care of Shu Xueqing.

His four grandchildren had all grown up to be successful and outstanding, each with their own achievements.

But now, suddenly, he was back decades in the past?

Song Yaling grabbed his arm, her eyes filled with sorrow and resentment. “Now, I’m about to get married, and I hope you’re still not here.”

The same words, the same scene—they had played out decades ago.

The sun shone down on them, casting a tall, slender shadow on the ground.

He raised his hand, calloused, but still youthful, without a wrinkle.

Gu Tinglin thought to himself: Is this a hallucination before death, or is he returning to his younger days because of regrets?

His daughter and son-in-law were both excellent, and his grandchildren had been well-raised. He should have no regrets…

But no, he did have regrets.

He owed Jiang Ning.

He had spent countless times reflecting—if only he had been more careful back then, Jiang Ning wouldn’t have had to grow up in an orphanage and suffer so much.

Seeing that he didn’t say anything, Song Yaling panicked, afraid he might cling to her and expose the truth to the Chen family. If that happened, not only would the marriage be called off, but she’d also become a laughingstock, and the Song family’s business would go bankrupt.

She gritted her teeth and gently stroked her flat stomach. “I’m pregnant, but the baby isn’t yours.”

Her words hit him like a thunder, shattering the confidence Gu Tinglin had had all those years ago.

The mission had been urgent, top-secret, and lasted a whole year. His injuries hadn’t even fully healed when he rushed back to see her.

His work had been special, and it had put her through a lot.

But even before their relationship was official, he had asked her multiple times. She said it was fine, that she could wait for him.

He had come back, and he had even bought an engagement ring.

But what he got in return wasn’t what he expected.

Guilt, self-reflection—he just wanted another chance…

But that was in his past life. The Gu Tinglin now was calm and unbothered.

When he learned the truth, he had been angry and regretful, but above all, there was guilt.

Gu Tinglin slowly removed Song Yaling’s hand from his arm, his voice calm, without any emotion. “Alright.”

Song Yaling’s eyes were still filled with tears, but his decisive response left her stunned. “Tinglin, I…”

She had fallen for him at first sight, loved him with reckless passion, believing love alone could conquer all. So she had fearlessly plunged forward, regardless of consequences.

But reality hit her hard. It turned out she had been so naive back then.

The difficulties of the Song family? Gu Tinglin couldn’t solve them.

His love for her couldn’t change anything.

Song Yaling was heartbroken. Even though she had cruelly ended things, she still loved him.

She could lie to others, but not to herself.

She had thought he would be devastated, that he would fight to keep her, ask her what happened, and promise to solve everything. She imagined they would never part, even if it meant holding her tightly and never letting go. But instead, he was so decisive.

Did he really love her?

Song Yaling felt a sense of resentment and anger. She snapped, “My family’s going through hard times, and when I needed you the most, I couldn’t find you anywhere.”

The past was now just smoke in the wind. Gu Tinglin didn’t want to hear more, and he didn’t want to explain himself.

“Sorry.”

He just wanted to leave quickly and find his daughter, the one she had cruelly abandoned in the orphanage.

He didn’t want to waste a single second.

This time, he wouldn’t miss his daughter’s growth.

I’ll protect her well, so she won’t suffer the same cruelty as in the past.

But his words only angered Song Yaling. “Gu Tinglin, did you ever love me?”

During their time apart, every day, she thought of him—of their sweet dates and the future he had promised.

If she had any choice, she would never have gone down the path of an arranged marriage.

Her pain was something he couldn’t possibly understand.

Why did she have to bear all the consequences, while he could be so calm about the breakup, as if she were just a stranger to him, with no feelings at all?

She was his girlfriend, and she had given birth to their daughter after carrying her for ten months.

How could he betray her?

It was laughable—only now did she realize the truth: he never loved her.

Not even a little.

Facing her accusations, Gu Tinglin remained calm. “You’re pregnant with someone else’s child and about to get married. Does it really matter whether I loved you?”

It did matter. It mattered a lot.

Because she still loved him.

But Song Yaling couldn’t bring herself to say it.

Suddenly, she hated him. She felt so stupid for loving him, for not realizing sooner that she wasn’t worthy of it.

How could he have played with her feelings like that?

Song Yaling raised her hand and slapped Gu Tinglin hard.

He didn’t dodge, taking the slap full force.

He deserved it. She was grateful to him for giving her their beautiful, heartwarming daughter.

“You… you bastard!”

Tears streamed down Song Yaling’s face as she turned and left.

Thinking of her past life’s fate, Gu Tinglin called out to her, “Take care of yourself.”

That only made Song Yaling even angrier. She jumped into her red sports car and sped away.

Gu Tinglin took the engagement ring out of his pocket and, without a second thought, threw it into the trash can by the roadside.

He grabbed a taxi, heading straight for the orphanage where their daughter was.

At the orphanage, he was frantic. “I’m here to pick up my daughter, Jiang Ning.”

“Jiang Ning?” The staff looked surprised. “We don’t have any child named Jiang Ning here.”

How could that be?

The records couldn’t be wrong. Jiang Ning had even told her she grew up in this orphanage.

What went wrong?

Gu Tinglin quickly calmed down, realizing he’d been misled by Song Yaling. He had been too careless.

Song Yaling had said she was pregnant to get out of their relationship, and Jiang Ning must have only arrived here recently—maybe she hadn’t even been named yet.

He thought for a moment. “A baby girl, around three months old, with a jade pendant when she was brought here.”

Describing the pendant, the staff quickly recognized it, then scolded him angrily, “What kind of father are you? You just abandoned your own child like she’s some stray animal! You have no responsibility whatsoever…”

He apologized over and over, trying to explain.

Once a child enters an orphanage, they can’t just be taken away without proper procedures.

To claim a child was your own, you needed proof.

“She really is my daughter. If you don’t believe me, we can do a paternity test.”

Gu Tinglin was brought to the director’s office, where he explained everything again, his heart racing. “Director, may I see my daughter?”

The director hesitated but ultimately refused. “Once the paternity test confirms, we’ll arrange a meeting.”

No matter how desperate he was, he couldn’t speed things up. The orphanage had its own procedures, so he waited, enduring the long days until the results came in.

When he saw the report, he finally breathed a sigh of relief.

The process was quick, and Gu Tinglin finally saw Jiang Ning. She was sound asleep in her crib.

He gently lifted her and smiled warmly. “Anning, Father’s here.”

He kissed her on the cheek.

The little girl woke up, her dark eyes locked onto his, then she smiled and giggled.

Gu Tinglin’s heart melted. This time, he would be the one to protect her.

With an extra 19 years of preparation, he believes humanity will be able to handle natural disasters more effectively.
