The Beloved and Pampered Girl

Chapter 1817: Unlucky or Lucky

Chapter 1817: Chapter 1817: Unlucky or Lucky

After a hearty dinner that night, they went home.

"Uncle, aren’t you tired?" Jian Dan sat on the bed, getting her arm massaged by Chu Liyuan.

"Why would I be tired?" Chu Liyuan turned his head to meet Jian Dan’s eyes.

"Carrying me out and back, wouldn’t your arms get sore?"

"Even if I have to carry my own wife for a lifetime, I won’t get sore!" Chu Liyuan raised his hand and patted Jian Dan’s head.

Jian Dan lowered her head shyly.

Jian Dan finally understood why she still felt shy despite being married to Uncle for so long. It’s because their relationship was always as sweet as it was at the beginning, if not sweeter.

Because of her leg, Chu Liyuan didn’t let Jian Dan go anywhere for the next two days.

Finally, on the third day, Jian Dan’s knee was almost healed.

"Uncle, if you don’t let me go out soon, we’ll have to go back," Jian Dan knelt in front of Chu Liyuan, blinking her eyes pitifully.

"I know, I know you can’t stay put. It seems your leg is almost well, so I’ll allow you to go out today, but there’s one condition: don’t leave my sight."

"I promise!" Jian Dan excitedly raised her hand over her head.

"Put on your clothes now!" Chu Liyuan said with a smile.

"Yay!" Jian Dan changed her clothes at lightning speed.

As Jian Dan stepped out of the house, a hidden red lip curled into a sly arc.

Jian Dan and Chu Liyuan walked onto the quiet street.

"There’s nothing here, yet you’re so happy?" Chu Liyuan said, looking at Jian Dan, who was as joyful as a child.

"I am happy! As long as I’m with Uncle, I’m happy no matter what we do."

"Haven’t we been together all these days?"

"Yes! These past two days have been fun too, but going out to play is even more fun!" Jian Dan ran ahead, hopping.

Suddenly, Jian Dan felt a pain in her knee and squatted down, and in the next second, a flowerpot fell heavily in front of her.

"Ah!" Jian Dan stared in shock at the flowerpot that had fallen before her.

If it weren’t for the sudden pain in her knee, the flowerpot might have landed right on her head.

"Jian Jian," Chu Liyuan immediately rushed over, "Are you okay?" He hurried to Jian Jian’s side to check on her. Seeing that she wasn’t hurt, he looked in the direction the flowerpot had fallen from and only saw a yellow cat.

"I’m fine, just a bit scared! If I hadn’t felt that pain in my knee, I might have..." Jian Dan’s voice trembled slightly as she spoke, "Though it was pretty lucky, isn’t there a saying in China that goes, ’Great disasters bring great fortune?’ Maybe I’m in for some luck today!" Jian Dan consoled herself after pausing.

"Come here!" Chu Liyuan pulled Jian Dan up and tightly held her in his embrace.

"Uncle, what’s this for? It was just an accident earlier, don’t worry."

Even though Jian Dan said this, Chu Liyuan’s expression was still very serious, and he was visibly tense.

"Uncle, look, there’s a café over there; let’s get something to drink to calm our nerves!" Just as Jian Dan was about to head over, someone suddenly bumped into her heavily. In the next moment, a speeding motorcycle raced past her, making her fall down on the roadside.

Neither of them had time to worry about the person who bumped into Jian Dan. One sat dumbfounded on the ground, while the other carefully checked Jian Dan’s body.

"Uncle, do you think this is just a coincidence?" Jian Dan said lightly, "Could it be that since we’re abroad, instead of escaping disaster, the God of Death has come for us?"
