The City of Terror

Chapter 48

Chapter 48 – Bragging Tempo

The spectators immediately cheered, while some howled in grief. Furthermore, some even cursed at the thin man. These were obviously the people that had lost money.

“How is it? Do you need to see a few more matches?”

Zhang Zhi Long asked with a smile.

Zhang Zhi Long thought highly of this little apprentice brother, so he paid more attention to him.

Wei Xiao Bei shook his head, “Senior brother, if this is the level of skill onstage, then there’ll be no pressure.”

Luckily, Wei Xiao Bei’s voice was not too loud. If Violent Bear on stage had heard it, he might’ve just flown into rage and become an actual violent bear.

“Alright, just try out this place for today.”

Zhang Zhi Long nodded and went to find a black shirted middle age man. After talking a bit, they both walked over.

The black shirted man looked at Wei Xiao Bei and nodded, “Ok, you should know the rules right? For every match you play, it will be 500 yuan. If you win, there will be an additional 500 yuan. You will also get an extra two percent of the profit. However, if you die or become crippled, it’s your own business!”

When Wei Xiao Bei heard it, he felt that it was not a bad proposition. If he won a match he would earn 1,000 yuan and an extra two percent. This was even higher than his monthly salary before.

Fighting underground matches were truly profitable! Wei Xiao Bei nodded in consent. He completely ignored the man’s last sentence.

One thing he did not know was that 500 yuan was the lowest he could earn in this profession. A few larger underground fighting arenas would provide more than 5,000 yuan. Moreover, those international casinos that had underground fighting would provide at least 10,000 yuan.

Naturally, Wei Xiao Bei was so poor that he felt that 500 yuan was already not bad.

Seeing Wei Xiao Bei nod his head, the black shirted man indicated him to follow.

The four of them circled the stage and came to a big hall. On four sides of the big hall were rooms, some labelled lobby, restroom, locker room, etc. At the entrance, there were two men wearing sleeveless skin tight shirts. When they saw the black shirted man, they immediately greeted, “Good day Boss!”

“En. Little three, this little brother intends to go up. It’s his first time, so arrange things for him.”

The man on the left nodded, “No problem, leave it to me boss.”

Afterwards, Zhang Zhi Long and Yao Wu waited in the big hall, while the man brought Wei Xiao Bei into the locker. He gave Wei Xiao Bei shorts and shoes that worn for boxing competitions.

While Wei Xiao Bei was changing, the man began to explain some ground rules.

There were only a few rules in underground fighting. Naturally, they were still followed in order to keep some sort of order.

For example, this arena required the competitors to stop attacking if the opponent lost the ability to resist.

This rule was not really that applicable. After all, judging when the opponent loses their ability to resist was very subjective.

This was only a rule drawn up to decrease the amount of deaths.

This place was Cui Hu City. If there were too many people who died from underground fighting, then this arena would not be able to stay open for much longer.

As for the rules on not attacking the referee and the spectators, these were made for the benefit of the arena.

There were almost next to no rules when a fighter was on stage. As long as they didn’t kill or disable their opponents, anything went.

When Wei Xiao Bei returned to the big hall after changing, he saw a robust man wearing a sleeveless shirt and boxing shorts, currently jumping and letting out straight punches and hooks from time to time.

Seeing Wei Xiao Bei gaze at the robust man, the man couldn’t help but smile, “That person is your opponent. His nickname is Homicidal Demon King. He has fought in this arena for three matches with two wins and one loss. His strength ain’t that bad.”

Wei Xiao Bei let out an odd smile.

This is called not bad? How meaningless. One ground sweeping kick would probably be enough to make him fall down.

The robust man had a height of 190 centimeters. This height was enough to surprise normal people.

If Wei Xiao Bei had just started learning Bajiquan, then he would have probably been on the oppressed side. But now, he only lightly laughed in his mind.

“Oh right, what nickname do you want?” The man suddenly asked.

“What nickname?”

Wei Xiao Bei was a bit dazed. He did not really process man’s words. This was the result of not having a high intelligence; his response time was quite slow.

“Just like them. Homicidal Demon King, Violent Bear and whatnot.”

The man shrugged his shoulders and talked as if he were a bystander, while pointing at Homicidal Demon King.

“Then, then call me Fierce Tiger!”

It was only a nickname, so Wei Xiao Bei did not think much about it and made a random decision.

The man nodded his head and made Wei Xiao Bei wait. He then left the big hall and arranged the match.

Seeing the man leave, Zhang Zhi Long and Yao Wu walked over. They looked at Wei Xiao Bei’s current appearance and smiled, “Not bad. You even look a bit imposing.”

In Zhang Zhi Long’s mind, Wei Xiao Bei’s attainments in Bajiquan was still in its previous state. Although it was not that awesome, it would be enough to deal with the opponents in this arena.

Naturally, they would guard below the stage. If anything happened to Wei Xiao Bei, they would quickly make their move.

If the boss of the arena had any complaints, then it would depend on how big his fists were.

If it weren’t like this, there would be no reason for Yao Wu to follow along. He only came because he was worried that something would happen to this little apprentice brother of his.

“Please welcome Fierce Tiger to the stage!”

“Fierce Tiger is a famous Muay Thai expert originating from Southeast Asia’s Gabula Arena with an 18 win streak……”

The referee was like a news anchor, recommending Wei Xiao Bei to the spectators with a microphone on hand. However, when Wei Xiao Bei heard it, he felt like he wasn’t talking about him at all. With more bullshit and false information, he had suddenly become a Muay Thai expert with an 18 win streak from Southeast Asia. If it was 108 wins instead of 18 wins, he could already become the hero of Liang Shan.

This couldn’t be blamed on the referee as he did not know what kind of person Wei Xiao Bei was. He was only following the boss’ orders.

If he did not create a good atmosphere, how could they attract the spectators to lay down their bets?

No matter how disturbed he was feeling, Wei Xiao Bei still went on the stage after the referee’s introduction. He waved at the spectators as he walked up.

Although the atmosphere was not bad when he went up, but once he waved, the noise below quietened down a lot.

This was not because he was charming, but because the spectators did not recognize him at all. They simply did not think highly of him due to his average height and average body build.

“On the other side, we have our own Homicidal Demon King entering the stage!”

“I won’t do a long introduction on him. In the previous match, our own Homicidal Demon King defeated our renowned Lightning Leopard…….”
