A heartbreaking scream echoed through the sky and a gush of crimson blood spurted from Elder Lu’s left arm, now reduced to nothing but a bloody stump.

Lioran’s eyes filled with terror as a resounding laugh reached his eardrums.

Had his father lost? Truly lost?

"Well done, son-in-law! Well done! Hahaha." Tai’Ren punched his eldest son in the shoulder. "See? That’s what I saw in that young man, hahaha."

Tai’Ren’s eldest son just bowed his head.

Honestly, he was a little regretful of having defended Elder Lu. He had disappointed his father for absolutely nothing.

An enormous flaming tiger of the flowing meridian realm appeared in front of him in a flash of light, its sharp claws already slashing towards him.

He was thrown back dozens of meters, breaking a few trees in half before coming to a stop.

"A familiar beast... uh?" Qingyi smiled, spitting blood onto the ground.

He hadn’t managed to protect his body properly from that attack, so he had broken a few ribs and his left lung was collapsed, nothing too serious.

Raising his face, he saw the tiger advancing towards him, eyes filled with a crazed light as a blazing roar burst out towards Qingyi.

The handsome young man had a single second to ponder his next move before grabbing the heaven-defying thunder sword with force.

The second before the tiger closed its jaws around Qingyi, the heaven-defying thunder sword flashed.

A pair of even larger jaws appeared in the air, closing around the huge tiger, large, sharp teeth sinking into its neck.

The appearance of Khaedryss brought shock to everyone there, especially Elder Lu, whose face filled with terror as he realized that he couldn’t even sense the beast’s Qi.

The tiger obviously tried to fight back. It twisted and struggled, trying to free itself from Khaedryss’ grip, but nothing was enough.

Elder Lu even tried to reach out to the other elders, begging them to intervene, to end the battle or at least release their cultivation, but none acted.

Elder Lu had agreed to the patriarch’s terms, a duel to the death.

If they intervened, it would be like slapping the patriarch in the face.

"Come here." Qingyi stepped on the back of the exhausted Elder Lu and pressed the heaven-defying thunder sword against his neck.
