Chapter 355 - The wedding (02)
Chapter 355: 355 - The wedding (02)
Soon after talking to Tai’Ren, Qingyi was guided by some servants to a large, luxurious room.
There, his clothes were changed into a long golden robe, different from the leather robes the cat people used to wear.
His long black hair was carefully combed, decorated with golden pendants, and a steel crown was placed on his head.
Even though he knew how these ceremonies worked, at least to some extent, it was strange for Qingyi to see himself looking so different.
When all the decorations were finished, he followed the servants through wide corridors until they finally reached the cat people’s feast hall.
It was the largest of all, with a capacity for thousands of guests.
Wealthy merchants, great noble families and even foreign ambassadors - all the elite of the cat folk’s capital were gathered, their eyes fixed on Qingyi.
He was already well known. Rumors about his deeds spread like wildfire, reaching even distant settlements.
An ascended from the mortal heavens, winner of the great hunt and the young talent who killed an immortal emperor while only being in the flowing meridian realm.
Even though this immortal emperor had suppressed his cultivation for that fight, it mattered little to the common people.
To them, Qingyi was simply a legend.
Qingyi walked calmly to a large staircase where, at the top, there were two thrones.
On one of them, Tai’Ren was sitting, and on the other, his main wife and Linyue’s mother, a quiet and reserved woman whose cultivation was at the peak of the Immortal Emperor realm.
"Qingyi greets father-in-law and mother-in-law," said the handsome young man, bowing and kneeling in front of his in-laws.
The moment his voice echoed, a loud bang sounded and the large double doors of the room, previously firmly closed, swung open, revealing a breathtaking figure.
It was Linyue, not in her usual leather attire, always ready for the hunt. Now, she wore a golden silk dress, similar to Qingyi’s.
Thin strands of gold surrounded her ears and feline tail, and her movements caused a soft tinkling sound to spread throughout the room.
Watching her beautiful face, with slightly trembling eyes, Qingyi could see exactly what was going through Linyue’s head.
She couldn’t wait to have the chance to finally take off those uncomfortable, tight clothes. She wanted her clothes back!
"Ah... that’s how she is..." Qingyi disguised his bitter smile with a sweet smile, waiting for her to come to his side.
"Linyue greets father and mother," she said, kneeling down next to Qingyi and taking his hand.
Tai’Ren cleared his throat and stood up, staring at the young couple before raising his gaze to the guests.
"A few weeks ago, I decided it was time for my little Linyue to finally get married. With the great hunt, I hoped to find a great hunter, a man of power worthy of my daughter.
Fortunately, I found someone even better, a young man capable not only of crossing several kingdoms, but also of accomplishing incomparable feats.
May the heavens bless this marriage and may their love be eternal!" Tai’Ren raised his glass of liquor, and all the guests did the same soon after.
Turning his face away, he beckoned his wife to stand up.
She approached Qingyi and bent down. Her beautiful middle-aged face revealed a gentle smile as she held his hands.
"Long Qingyi, do you promise to always love and protect my daughter, to allow no harm to come to her and to make all her enemies your enemies?" asked Linyue’s mother.
"I promise," Qingyi replied firmly.
"Good..." She turned her face, staring at her daughter. "You look so beautiful, I can’t believe you’re already leaving me to run away with this young dragon..."
"I’m not running away... and he said he’d bring me here to see you whenever I want," Linyue blushed, looking away.
"If he breaks that promise, let me know. I’ll teach him not to hurt my little girl, fufufu~~" Linyue’s mother giggled, getting up and returning to her husband’s side.
Qingyi could only shudder, a chill running down his spine. He didn’t know what the threat was, but he certainly didn’t like it.
He might despise that promise if it came from anyone else, but not from the mother of one of his wives.
"May the heavens bless this marriage and may their love be eternal," declared Linyue’s mother, a little less firmly than her husband, with all the elegance expected of a woman of her level.
Tai’Ren signaled for them both to stand up and then spoke: "With a kiss, this marriage will be sealed. Long Qingyi, young dragon, slayer of immortals, will be not just a stranger, but a true member of our family."
Qingyi’s face darkened a little when he heard those titles. Tai’Ren really wanted his son-in-law to be known this way?
’Well... slayer of immortals isn’t bad... it could be a lot worse...’ Qingyi shook his head and finally turned to Linyue.
After a moment of staring at each other, the two finally kissed. Their lips intertwined in a contact that lasted long seconds and ended with an explosion of celebrations throughout the room.
From the top of the hall, the skies opened up and moonlight fell on the two of them.
A strange but pleasant Qi coursed through Qingyi and Linyue’s bodies.
Even those opposed to the wedding stood up to clap for the couple.
Naturally, the ceremony didn’t stop there.
Qingyi had to receive the wedding gifts and offer the dowry to the bride’s family, choosing to spend a large amount of lust points on pills that might help his father-in-law reach the realm of the astral body.
He honestly didn’t know how rare those pills were for cultivators of the ancestral emperor realm, but seeing the change on Tai’Ren’s face when he received them, Qingyi realized that it was a fitting gift.
After the main dinner and all the long speeches congratulating the couple, they were finally released for their wedding night, returning to Linyue’s room, which had been perfectly prepared for it.
"Ugh... I hate that thing, Nyan! Nyan! Nyan!" Linyue repeated, as she grabbed the dress.
She didn’t even take it off, she simply tore it.
By the time she turned to Qingyi, she was completely naked, throwing herself into his arms.
"That wasn’t so bad, was it?" Qingyi smiled, lying down on the bed with her. "Do you really think it would have been worth it to have captured me and accused me of being a pleasure demon in front of your father?"
"Nyan. Of course it would! I could be hunting right now! Hehehe," she giggled, drawing a gasp from Qingyi.
This girl...
