The Corruption Dragon God: Lust System

Chapter 417 - You did this to yourself

Chapter 417: 417 - You did this to yourself

[First, the bad news: There will only be a 1,500-word Chapter today (instead of 2x1,000) because I had to help my dad with his car at the repair shop. Those who follow me on Discord know what happened, but anyway, it wasn’t fun, hahaha.

I’m sorry.

The good news: I quit my current job, and starting next month, the Chapter release rate will increase to 3-4 per day. Fuck my boss, btw.]

It was a gloomy morning at the Belgrath family stronghold.

Once guarded by an army of over ten thousand mighty soldiers, now it barely held a hundred defenders scattered across its walls.

They were the only ones who had chosen to remain at their lord’s side until the end.

There were others, of course, but they were responsible for escorting the duke’s family to the Rose Empire; a long and dangerous journey.

"Sir, something is approaching..." A worried voice echoed from one of the younger defenders to the captain of the guard, a powerful warrior of the eighth ring.

The captain narrowed his eyes, imbuing mana into his pupils and looking beyond the fog that surrounded the fortress.

He could clearly see hundreds of shadows approaching. These shadows soon turned into thousands, and then tens of thousands.

The time had come. They were surrounded.

The captain gritted his teeth, his eyes flashing with fury as he prepared to activate the fortress’s defensive arrays, powerful enough that its walls could hold off ninth ring mages.

"I am two hundred years old," the captain said.

"I have protected the Belgrath family all my life, as did my father, my father’s father, and his father before him, for over a thousand years, since they were the rightful rulers of this land. We have never failed!"

The captain grabbed a small talisman, ready to crush it in his hands and activate the formation.

"And that won’t-..." The captain’s words were suddenly cut off, the eyes of the young soldier beside him widening in terror.

He could see, for a brief moment, an ethereal, thunderous flying blade, a mere blur tearing through the air at absurd speed and passing through the captain’s throat.

In a single moment, the old warrior’s head was sent flying into the air with a gush of blood from his decapitated neck, his eyes filled with shock, still unable to comprehend that he had died.

The captain’s body fell to the ground, seized by terrible spasms.

"Shit, get the talisman, activate the formations!" Another soldier roared, and the young man tried to act, but it was already too late.

Countless sharp whistles tore through the air, each carrying a soldier with it.

Even those who tried to hide behind the concrete walls were killed instantly, the flying blades cutting through the concrete as if it were butter.

"Your Highness is truly efficient at killing, I would never be able to eliminate them so cleanly..." The general beside Qingyi spoke, eliciting a soft laugh from the young man.

"My land is not very kind to those who are not good at killing; the strong are even more lawless than here," Qingyi replied, flying above the wall.

His eyes stared coldly at the corpses in the fortress before finally focusing on the main building.

"Order the soldiers to secure the fortress and protect the walls, I will take care of Belgrath," Qingyi commanded.

"Yes, Your Highness." The general bowed respectfully before leaving, shouting orders to his men.

Silently, Qingyi approached the main building, moving his face briefly before entering it, observing the world beyond the walls of that fortress.

That was the land from which this fortress protected the kingdom; putrid swamps filled with beasts and death, creatures born for violence.

He was curious about what lay within, but now was simply not the time.

With a sigh, Qingyi finally entered the main building, his eyes immediately widening.

He curved his body and moved his hands forward, a powerful rumble echoing as his fingers closed around a black spear.

The ground beneath his feet gave way, the concrete cracking as he took a single step back.

The spear began to spin in his grip, struggling to pierce his heart.

Despite its power, Qingyi did not yield, even when the steel of the spear turned the palm of his hand into raw flesh, soaking it with his blood.

With a smooth motion, Qingyi clenched his fists, breaking the spear in two and throwing it to the ground.

"This was your plan? Quite disappointing." Qingyi laughed, lifting his face to a dying figure on an ancient throne.

The figure’s eyes were downcast and his lips curved into a soft smile.

Approaching, Qingyi clenched his hands, feeling the pain in his palms go away as the Seed of Life worked, healing him instantly.

"Ah... Hahaha." A bitter laugh escaped Belgrath’s lips. "It took a lot of work to activate this array without my mana heart. You really ruined me, young man."

"You did this to yourself," Qingyi shook his head. "First, when you tried to marry your son to my Isabel. Second, when you tried to steal the crown from my father-in-law, David Valemont."

"S-steal? Hahaha." Belgrath raised his torso with difficulty, leaning on the throne, his voice coming out like the roar of a beast.

"I cannot steal what is rightfully mine, I can only reclaim what is rightfully mine... The Valemont family are the thieves!"

Belgrath returned to his throne, coughing up blood.

"It doesn’t matter," Qingyi shook his head, drawing the Heaven-Defying Thunder Sword.

"In the end, you raised your weapon against my wife’s family, and you are left with nothing but death."

With a smooth movement, he beheaded Belgrath and then threw the body into the Mind World, instructing Ruxue to deliver it to Khaedryss.

She would probably make a great feast out of that corpse.

With a sigh, Qingyi stored the head in the Mind World, leaving Belgrath’s throne room and walking to the courtyard of the fortress.

His men had already taken over the fortress and assumed defensive positions on the wall.

"Your Highness... Is it done? Where is Belgrath?" The general asked, kneeling in front of Qingyi.

"Dead. I will only take his head to my father-in-law." Qingyi shook his head.

"Make sure the fortress has enough supplies and men to defend against the invaders from the north, and then march with the rest of the troops. I will go ahead."

The general opened his lips to question, but in the end, he remained silent.

He was a warrior of the ninth ring, equivalent to a True Immortal. He should be able to handle those things on his own.

With nothing else to do, Qingyi simply left, flying toward the capital of the kingdom of Valemont.
