Chapter 467 - This battle ends now.
Chapter 467: 467 - This battle ends now.
Qingyi’s eyes widened as he felt Lucien’s sword tear through his insides, blood rising to his throat.
He could only cover his body with black scales, pushing Lucien away and trying to control the trajectory of his attack.
Unfortunately, he failed. Xuetian’s blood spear struck his chest covered by black scales, while his own attack struck the ground between them.
Immediately, everything fell silent.
The explosion spread toward the ground, which immediately collapsed. As if there were an abyss of eternal darkness beneath them, they sank.
Qingyi’s eyes were half-closed, barely able to see as Xuetian threw himself toward Lucien.
The black scales had held, but his body had still suffered considerable internal injuries.
The demonic cultist, despite not receiving a direct hit, had still been hit by most of the explosion and was seriously injured.
What he planned to do barely crossed Qingyi’s mind. His clouded mind only woke up when he felt the pain of his back hitting the bottom of that pit after nearly a minute of falling.
With a grunt, he got up, pulled Lucien’s sword out of his ribs, and then turned his face, his eyes filling with shock as he watched the scene in front of him.
Lucien’s lips were stretched into an unnatural angle.
In a sickening way, Xuetian entered his mouth, his body squishing as if it were made of jelly, taking only a moment to finally disappear down the young hero’s throat.
"Ugh..."
Lucien’s eyes suddenly opened, changed, filled with a deep red as he stood up.
Even his mana heart had replaced Lucien’s. No... it had merged with Lucien’s!
"You really did a lot of damage to my body, brat... but..." Xuetian looked at his new hands. Lucien’s face, now his, was taken over by a broad smile. "Fortunately, our battle doesn’t end now."
"No." Qingyi shook his head. "This battle ends now."
"Oh... and with what-"
Xuetian’s words died on his lips as he felt Qingyi’s Qi move.
He already knew that the young man had several types of Qi, but seeing it with his own eyes left him with nothing but shock.
Fire, lightning, and sword.
They all gathered in the Heaven-Defying Thunder Sword.
The temperature of the blade exploded at an absurd speed, soon reaching a level where, even dozens of meters away, Xuetian could feel his face burning.
"This is the Heaven-Shattering Divine Slash!
Be grateful for the honor of dying to it!" Qingyi roared, swinging the Heaven-Defying Thunder Sword.
Xuetian even tried to flee, but it was already too late. The very space around him seemed to open up, while Qingyi’s blade seemed capable of cutting through the very fabric of reality.
The primordial laws around him collapsed. A deep gash appeared in front of him as Lucien’s body was cut cleanly at the waist.
He tried to escape, to leave Lucien’s body, but he didn’t have time to retrieve his mana heart.
Even leaving Lucien’s body in time wasn’t enough; the explosion that came from the collapse of the primordial laws destroyed his body almost entirely.
Qingyi watched the corpse fall to the ground, its Qi beginning to dissipate into the air before finally stopping.
"This bastard isn’t dead yet?" Qingyi prepared for a second attack, to turn that bastard’s entire body to dust.
But he soon noticed something as the Qi surrounding the corpse shot up and its joints twisted.
Slowly, the corpse rose.
It took Qingyi only a moment to realize: Xuetian was dead. Whatever that thing was, it was something completely different.
The corpse’s jaw opened.
"You know... my brothers and my sisters... never—never..." A long pause followed these words, strange noises, like bones cracking, echoing. "Saw the potential in nothing under the... t-t-t-the heavenly sky..."
The thing turned its face, its teeth chattering irritably.
It seemed to feel pain, despair.
Its voice was strange and stilted, almost as if it were struggling to even be able to speak.
Its guts spilled onto the floor from a cut in its belly, its arms unable to keep them inside. The bile from its torn stomach spread across its body.
Qingyi could see the creature’s dried aorta, as well as the muscles of its back. The entire upper part of its body was held upright only by its twisted spine.
Its eyes met Qingyi’s again, and then the thing smiled.
"This body is not... good... it is... imperfect... i-i-i-incomplete..." The words that escaped the corpse’s lips sounded less and less like a human voice.
It was hoarse, like the creaking of a door, feminine and masculine at the same time, sickly, full of hatred, full of pain...
"It’s enough..." The whole corpse writhed.
"If that’s all you’ve got, you pathetic little thing, I doubt I’ll need to exert myself to get rid of you." Qingyi spoke coldly, preparing the Thunder Sword.
He wanted to kill it right there, but he knew it wasn’t the time. He needed to hear more.
"HAHAHAHAHAHA!"
A crazed laugh filled the entire place. The corpse’s eyes rolled back as its neck moved at strange angles.
For the first time since whatever that thing had taken over that corpse, its voice was fluid.
"I saw you before... in that miserable little place... miserable people... blood of my blood."
The corpse seemed to sniff the air.
"You have that smell on you... the smell of someone of my blood... pathetic, impure... without my lineage... but she’s there... a girl? I’m going to get her.."
Qingyi shuddered at those words, but not out of fear. It was out of anger.
His hands flew to the corpse’s neck, squeezing tightly.
He felt the corpse’s hands, which had been reduced to nothing but bones, clinging to his wrist. The sharp tips of the bony fingers sank into his flesh.
The corpse’s face twisted into deep amusement. "We... will meet again... the thousand seeds... the thousand and one demon seeds... complete receptacle..."
The moment the last word escaped the corpse’s lips, it turned to dust.
Qingyi coldly reflected on the final words.
Demon seeds... the same demon seeds planted in the hearts of the fox people?
But there was only one demon seed there.
"Ruxue... what are the chances this man is the Celestial Demon?" Qingyi asked, a voluptuous figure appearing beside him.
"It’s probably him," Ruxue said. "What this pig wants with the Immortal Heaven is the real mystery."
"Damn..." Qingyi gritted his teeth, noticing Lucien breathing heavily.
He approached the young man.
He still had many questions to ask him.
Qingyi knelt down, bringing his hand to Lucien’s chest, whose mana heart had been replaced.
Immediately, he felt something change, a shock spreading through his body as he realized something.
Lucien’s mana heart was moving inside his body, as if trying to jump out of his chest.
