Chapter 470 - Mana and Qi
Chapter 470: 470 - Mana and Qi
Right after talking to the girls and leaving the mind world, Qingyi looked around.
Everything was destroyed. Nothing there was even worth becoming food for Khaedryss.
Not that it was necessary; the beasts in the mind world were reproducing at an absurd speed, and with that, Khaedryss’s power was also growing.
Honestly, in his current state, Qingyi was sure that even he would have difficulty fighting her.
After a moment of reflection, Qingyi simply left that hole behind. He flew north, traveling a few hundred kilometers before stopping.
He had acquired a new great power, and obviously, he would not fail to test it.
He stopped right on the slope of a small, isolated hill. Extending his Qi senses, he sensed no one’s presence for dozens of kilometers.
"Yes... this will suffice." Qingyi smiled.
He called upon his mana, wrapping it around the Heaven-Defying Thunder Sword, and then attacked, using fire.
It still felt strange to use it, even with the assimilation of his Qi and mana affinities.
The color of the flames was slightly more yellowish, and their heat was only slightly lower.
Of course, that didn’t mean that mana was weaker than Qi, and the power of the blow landing on the line of trees was by no means inferior.
The attack tore through the landscape for miles, incinerating trees and blackening the earth.
The power was good, even though Qingyi was not yet so accustomed to mana. Above all, there was something important to consider.
A big smile spread across Qingyi’s lips. He moved both energies into his muscles.
There was, of course, a limit to how much Qi Qingyi could force into his muscles or even objects. There was a barrier where even his powerful body would suffer damage.
That was already enough to multiply his power dozens of times over, far more than any cultivator of his level could even dream of.
But... what was wrong with wanting more?
Qingyi first forced all his Qi into his muscles, feeling his flesh burn as they swelled gently.
Then, feeling he had reached the limit of how much Qi he could move, he reached for his mana and also moved it toward his muscles, combining it with the Qi.
Immediately, he felt no resistance.
His muscles swelled a little more, the amount of Qi and mana so high that the space around him seemed about to collapse.
Qingyi gritted his teeth, pulled back his fist, and then punched.
His feet sank into the ground with the momentum of the punch itself. The air around him exploded with pressure, as did everything in front of him.
Trees were split in two, the most resistant ones being uprooted, while the earth itself seemed to split in front of him.
The impulse of his punch continued to travel for many kilometers, hitting the hillside like a powerful explosion. The entire mountain shook, with much of it immediately collapsing.
"Good." Qingyi smiled, cracking his neck.
The power was still lacking compared to his father-in-law, Tai’Ren, but it was certainly much better than when he used only Qi, without combining it with mana.
The conversion wasn’t directly perfect, but he calculated about thirty percent more strength.
Sighing heavily, Qingyi just continued to train until, finally, something came to mind.
Merging types of Qi had always brought very interesting results. Fire, lightning, and sword generated his most powerful attack, while ice and fire generated the Flames of Primordial Chaos.
Generally, playing with these things was not highly recommended, as most cultivators did not have bodies capable of withstanding such pressure.
Fortunately, Qingyi was not like most cultivators.
He sat cross-legged. His clothes were already destroyed, so he didn’t worry too much about getting them dirty.
His eyes closed, and he joined his hands together.
From his left, he flowed his mana, and from his right, his Qi, forcing them into small glowing spheres before slowly bringing them together in the center.
The resistance was immediate. A small plasma barrier formed between the spheres, causing the air around them to heat up rapidly.
Qingyi gritted his teeth, forcing a little more. The barrier separating the two energies became increasingly unstable, with powerful waves of heat sweeping everything around.
But he didn’t stop. His arms trembled, and he put just a little more force into it until the two types of energy came together.
At the same moment, Qingyi’s eyes shot up. A flood of system notifications invaded his mind.
Error alerts, requests to stop.
And then, it happened.
For a brief moment, the two energies merged into a pure core, whose characteristics Qingyi barely had time to study before everything collapsed.

His meridians trembled. His Qi and mana collapsed at the same time, while blood rose to his throat.
Above him, black clouds closed in quickly, causing the skies to tremble.
Qingyi clenched his fists, punching the ground and looking up, ignoring the pain that permeated his body.
"This time you’re not backing down, huh? What’s the matter, did I offend your little ego?" Qingyi laughed loudly at the heavens.
Whatever he had just done, it certainly did not please the heavens, and apparently, a Heavenly Tribulation was about to fall.
Qingyi gritted his teeth, retracting the Heaven-Defying Thunder Sword, moving his Qi and mana through the blade at the same time.
He was curious about what exactly he had done to deserve such hatred from the heavens and what that pure energy was that he had created in that brief moment before the collapse.
But first, he had to survive.
The heavens shook one last time. The density of Qi around him exploded as dozens of silver thunderbolts tore through the skies, converging just above Qingyi.
"Come." The handsome young man demanded.
A black dragon appeared behind him, and gray flames engulfed the Heaven-Defying Thunder Sword.
The moment his voice fell, it finally came: a sea of lightning that merged into one, an aura like the flapping of a Phoenix’s wings tearing through the skies toward Qingyi.
The handsome young man did not hold back, pouring out the Primordial Chaos Flames uncontrollably.
