The Corruption Dragon God: Lust System

Chapter 476 - The worst!

Chapter 476: 476 - The worst!

Qingyi looked at the corpses incinerated by Lucas’ dragon flames.

He could have saved them, for sure.

With a single moment, a fraction of a fraction of a second. That was all it took to save them.

Still, he didn’t. He failed to save them. If he had kept his guard up, none of this would have happened...

Qingyi shifted his attention, lowered his guard.

To Qingyi, Lucas had no reason to focus on those miners, not when he could just focus on the person on whom all his hatred was concentrated.

What was the point of killing them too?

"Ah... I forgot..." Qingyi sighed heavily.

He had forgotten that in this world, some people were evil just because they were.

They killed because they could, nothing more.

Qingyi didn’t think much about it, knowing it would be useless. He reached the corpses, clasped his fists, and then said: "May the heavens take care of their souls."

With nothing else to do, Qingyi left, his body exploding with speed.

On one hand, many of his plans had been ruined; on the other, at least he would get there faster.

Shaking his head, he quickened his pace, a sea of shadows engulfing his body as his speed increased dramatically.

He was much faster than the speed of sound. However, there was no shockwave or sonic boom, his shadow Qi causing him to barely affect the world around him.

Any mortal eye would be unable to keep up with such speed, but for Qingyi, even traveling through those dense trees was easy.

The journey that would have taken weeks by carriage, he made in less than an hour.

He felt many beasts probing him as he traveled, some even capable of posing a danger to his life, but he ignored everything and only stopped when he sensed a great change in the mana around him.

The density skyrocketed to an absurd level, his fingers tingling as he inhaled, feeling the air fill his lungs.

Pure and perfect, second only to the air of the world of the mind.

With light steps, Qingyi began to walk slowly until he reached a wide central road, surrounded by well-kept trees, the road itself meticulously covered with stones in beautiful patterns.

Thousands of merchants and travelers took this road, so it wasn’t difficult to blend in, even with his unique appearance.

He didn’t bother to hide either.

No one there knew his face, after all.

He continued for a brief moment before, just after a small hill, suddenly stopping, his eyes scanning the city ahead.

It was just over ten kilometers away, surrounded by a huge wall from which large chains rose toward the skies.

These chains were tied to a huge flying island, a mass of land held together by such an absurd amount of mana that Qingyi was sure that even with all the riches accumulated alongside Meilin, he would not be able to maintain it for more than a few days.

His eyes scanned the many fortresses that rose above that island, like deities over the city.

That was the place he needed to reach to find Elize’s sister.

[Husband... I know this place. It’s a little faded in my memory, but I’m sure I’ve been here before.]

Elize’s voice echoed as she watched everything through Ruxue’s eyes.

This was the place where she had spent her childhood until her mother’s death.

"Just wait a little longer, love. Qingyi whispered to her, continuing to walk.

At the central gates, a group of guards watched the crowd with attentive eyes, collecting travelers’ documents and collective transportation permits.

Despite the high guard, they barely noticed when Qingyi’s body was swallowed by a dark blur, disappearing before appearing on the other side of the gate.

Many guards turned their faces in confusion, spreading their senses of mana.

They felt as if something had just passed them by, but they had no idea what it was, nor whether their senses were simply deceiving them.

In the end, they just exchanged glances and continued their service.

"It’s... pleasant." Qingyi murmured after walking for a moment.

Not just the air, nor the silence, nor the nature.

Everything there was pleasant, from the architecture to the children playing in the street.

Qingyi’s eyes soon followed those of the children, focusing on the skies, where two dragon riders were having a friendly duel, exchanging bursts of flames.

The children shouted with excitement at the beautiful sight, while the adults looked on with reverence.

He could already imagine that many of these children dreamed of one day becoming dragon riders themselves.

Unfortunately, such a dream was almost impossible.

At the end of the day, they were just mortal humans and would hardly be anything more than that.

Qingyi shook his head and continued on his way.

They weren’t the first and wouldn’t be the last.

He was about to start looking for a tavern to listen to rumors when he felt a pair of small hands tugging at his robes.

"Oh... handsome uncle! Do you want to get to the huge black castle too?"

Turning around, Qingyi saw a little girl with short brown hair and large amber eyes, watching him with interest and sparkle.

Judging by her clothes, she was probably a child from a middle-class family.

"Yes," Qingyi nodded, flashing a gentle smile. "Didn’t your parents teach you not to talk to strangers on the street?"

"Oh... are you a bad man?" The little girl took a step back, her eyes fluttering.

[The worst!] Ruxue’s voice echoed in Qingyi’s mind, whose smile expanded even further, ignoring his wife’s words.

"To my enemies, yes, I am a bad man."

"Oh... cool!" The little girl’s eyes sparkled. "Daddy always said that if we wanted to go to the big black castle, we had to be next to a pureblood, a real one!"

’Pureblood?’ Qingyi wondered.

Was she talking about dragon riders?

He already knew that, despite limitations, humans could also become riders.

But was there a separation between human riders and elven riders?

[When a human becomes a dragon rider, their constitution tends to change to adapt to this new power.

That must be what she’s talking about, any common elven rider or a human rider whose constitution has already fully adapted to their mount.]

It was Aeryn who answered that question, also using his connection with Ruxue.
