Chapter 493 - Domain
Chapter 493: 493 - Domain
The patriarch of the draconic elves appeared in a strange place, his feet stepping on damp ground, the sound of splashing water reaching his ears.
He was not in front of the gate through which he had entered, no.
He was miles below the earth, in a chamber so deep and narrow that not even he or his father knew exactly where it was.
All they knew was that this gate led to that chamber.
He took a step forward, observing a long corridor that stretched to an even larger chamber. Its ceiling rose miles above the floor, its length extending as far as the eye could see.
At the end of that chamber was the heart of Karlan.
The patriarch’s pupils focused as he saw a group of figures, twelve in total.
They were the draconic priests and guardians of the remains of fallen heroes.
His most trusted advisors and, above all, the beings responsible for the ritual that would help RedDeath receive the power of Karlan’s dragon.
After all, RedDeath was not like Khaedryss; he could not absorb the power of anything just by devouring it.
"What are you waiting for?" The patriarch smiled, the ground beneath his feet shaking as the Red Death took a step forward. "Let’s get started-"
The patriarch’s words died in his throat, the world around him changing as darkness swallowed everything.
He barely had time to react before he saw the hooded priests being torn in half by a wave of power, a hellish heat rising behind him.
He shielded himself with a thick layer of mana as RedDeath turned, his jaws opening to reveal endless rows of sharp, twisted teeth.
Its roar did little to drown out the explosion.
RedDeath’s scales held, but the ground beneath his feet did not; his enormous body was thrown backward as his claws tore into the hard stone beneath him.
"Who the hell are you? Filthy pig! Reveal yourself!" The patriarch roared as he was also thrown toward the enormous chamber, a sea of flames leaving the hallway where they stood, illuminating the entire dark chamber.
A few moments later, even RedDeath was thrown out, his enormous body landing on the stony ground with a thud.
"Filthy pig? Is that how you treat your son-in-law?" A voice full of disdain echoed, followed by a long, booming laugh.
The Patriarch’s eyes rose, the huge beast above him roaring at a young man in the air.
He was handsome, with long black hair and piercing purple eyes, watching them with contempt.
That was one of the champions chosen in the last selection, the one who had been chosen by Seraphine!
The Patriarch gritted his teeth, unable to hold back his anger.
"So that’s why that little bitch was confident enough to finally leave her damn hiding place? Hahahaha!" The Patriarch laughed wildly.
Suddenly, his laughter died and his eyes turned serious.
He could sense the mana leaking from Qingyi...
Tenth ring...
He had been thrown back like that by a bastard who was barely in the tenth ring?
Such a thought made the patriarch’s blood boil with rage.
He couldn’t accept that at all!
"Don’t interfere!" He ordered RedDeath, who only shook his snout in annoyance.
In the next moment, the patriarch charged forward, his body turning into a blur as he broke the speed of sound, a long, elegant saber appearing in his hands.
The moment the saber and the thunder sword that defied the heavens met, the world around them seemed to collapse, the patriarch’s crimson mana coming into contact with Qingyi’s thunder Qi and Mana.
A reddish aura engulfed the entire enormous chamber, its stone walls shaking violently as millions of defensive arrays activated at once, preventing it from collapsing.
"Die!" The patriarch’s roar sounded more like the desperate cry of a beast as he unleashed the full strength of an eleventh ring expert, the entire world around him changing.
’Is that... a domain?’ Qingyi’s eyes widened as he realized this change.
From the floor and walls, millions of tiny scarlet flowers began to sprout, dominating everything around them.
Controlling his Qi became difficult, and all the mana surrounding him seemed to be violently sucked away.
He retreated, allowing the patriarch to win that clash, throwing him towards one of the chamber walls with a powerful crash, the defensive arrays nearly collapsing.
"Ugh... damn..." Qingyi gritted his teeth.
Even breathing was difficult, and his body felt much heavier than before.
His eyes fell on the world surrounding the patriarch, unlike anything he had ever seen before.
The small flowers had turned into giant roses, one by one blooming, hundreds of small thorns sprouting from each one.
"What’s the matter... surprised?" The patriarch revealed a sickly smile, powerful roots sprouting from among the flowers, surrounding him completely.
"That’s what you get for messing with the wrong person, brat!"
The roots moved toward Qingyi, forming sharp points as the flowers released all their thorns at once.
Immediately, Qingyi felt a chill run down his spine, a sense of danger he had never felt before overwhelming his being.
He shuddered, gritting his teeth, his body quickly covered in powerful black scales.
It made no sense to fight in the domain of the dragon elf patriarch; it was a losing battle.
Qingyi had to find a way to break through it, or at least weaken it.
Gritting his teeth, he simply moved his draconic Qi, the enormous figure of a black dragon appearing behind him, its roar engulfing the world around him.
Red Death, who seemed uninterested in the fight, suddenly raised his head, roaring back at the dragon on Qingyi’s back, his crimson eyes filling with murderous intent.
Under Qingyi’s bloodline suppression, the patriarch’s momentum dropped significantly, but not enough.
The speed of the attack was still absurd, and its power had barely been reduced by ten or twenty percent.
A domain was, without a doubt, much more powerful than he had expected.
"This is going to hurt..." The handsome young man gritted his teeth, preparing for the impact.
