Chapter 506 - Emperor (01)
Chapter 506: 506 - Emperor (01)
Initially, things in the capital of the Rose Empire were lively.
The story of the heroes’ success on their first mission spread like wildfire, and the people celebrated.
But then, someone noticed something.
None of the five heroes had revealed themselves.
Not Lucien, not Aeryn, not Celestial, not Sapphire. Not even the strange foreigner.
Everything was quiet, and the church was no exception.
Many questions arose and were ignored, which only further increased the apprehension of the people of the imperial capital.
The emperor ordered the site to be cleaned up, compensated the families of the dead, and then, silence.
The same was true for the Blue Tower and the elves, who had great talents participating in that mission.
No one said anything about the situation of the chosen heroes.
Naturally, as he walked through the capital, his aura hidden and his body swallowed by a sea of shadows, Qingyi had noticed the current situation.
"It seems I’ve caused quite a mess for them," the handsome young man chuckled. "Sapphire, Margareth, what do you still want to do here?" he asked.
"I just want to pick up some belongings at the Red Tower," Margareth said, followed by Sapphire, who had the same desire.
Many of her personal belongings had been left behind, and she didn’t want to lose anything.
"Okay," Qingyi nodded, moving his spatial Qi.
In a single second, he was no longer on the streets, appearing inside one of the many magical towers that rose above the imperial capital.
That was the Red Tower, ruled by one of the empire’s greatest magicians and inhabited by hundreds of students.
There were more than a hundred floors in total, forming a huge maze of stairs and passageways.
Despite the students’ talent, none of them noticed Qingyi, who was hidden by the Qi of shadows.
It wasn’t difficult to find Margareth’s room, which had been sealed for years.
There, she took some books, research materials, and personal items before returning to the world of the mind.
Closing his eyes, Qingyi followed Sapphire’s instructions and then disappeared again.
He reappeared in the Blue Tower, just below a huge staircase.
"Just go up... my room is on the second-to-last floor."
Silently, Qingyi followed, passing many students until he reached the second-to-last floor.
If he went up one more, he would come face to face with the master wizard of the Blue Tower, a terrifying expert with over twenty thousand years of history.
Qingyi was curious, but he restrained himself, entering Sapphire’s room.
He had barely taken a single step into the room before he stopped, the door closing behind him.
Sapphire appeared beside him, her eyes falling on a man sitting on her bed.
He was tall, with powerful muscles pressing against his robes, his face hidden by a bronze mask covered in marks.
"Father..." She whispered, clinging to Qingyi’s robes.
What the hell was that man doing there?
"Your mission was a success..." The emperor stood up, walking toward Sapphire, who cowered behind Qingyi.
The two stood face to face.
Qingyi’s cold, purple eyes stared into the emperor’s piercing, incomprehensible blue eyes.
"Do you know why I am here?" The emperor murmured, speaking to his daughter, even though he was looking into Qingyi’s eyes.
He released a thread of aura, which should have been enough to crush the young man like a cockroach against the ground.
To his surprise, Qingyi didn’t even react, remaining steadfast.
How powerful could this young man have become in such a short time?
Beneath his mask, the emperor’s face changed, and he put a little more power into it, slowly releasing his aura.
"If you want to die, be direct, old man. I will give you a quick and merciful death in the name of my wife, but if you insist..." Qingyi growled, calling upon the flames of Primordial Chaos. "I can make you feel a little pain."
Immediately, the emperor took a step back, feeling those strange gray flames consume his mana.
He paused for a moment, strange crackles escaping from inside his mask before he finally burst into laughter.
"You’re good, young man..." The emperor turned his back on Qingyi.
He walked to one of the few windows in his daughter’s room, looking out at the city below.
From the poorest slums to the luxurious palace he called home.
Every citizen, every loyal guard, every enemy of the crown.
He could see and feel each and every one of them.
With a wave of his hands, they would all be dead.
"It’s a shame... that you have such a disgusting aura about you." The emperor turned, staring coldly at Qingyi.
He could feel it well, impregnated in that young man’s body, an aura he could never have forgotten.
It was a dark power that had brought so much suffering to his people.
Qingyi took a step back, realizing he had made a mistake.
Every touch between experts left a mark of their aura, and unless it was washed away or hidden, it would remain there.
For someone like the emperor, a twelfth-ring warrior and one of the most powerful on the continent, sensing it was as easy as breathing.
"Khaedryss... slayer of immortals and butcher of empires... I haven’t forgotten the day she devoured my father... I was just a boy, but I remember. Even your eyes and horns are the same as hers..."
"Father... no!" Sapphire exclaimed, clutching Qingyi’s robes.
Before her lips even closed, she had already been sent to the world of the mind.
The last thing she was able to feel was her father’s aura exploding.
Just below the tower, the eyes of many citizens rose, watching the skies with curiosity that soon turned to terror.
The entire second-to-last floor of the Blue Tower exploded, engulfed by a sea of flames.
A figure left the sea of fire with his arms crossed, launched toward the wall with an explosion.
"Damn, this old man is strong..."
Qingyi smiled, his back hitting the outer wall of the capital.
He passed through dozens of meters of steel and concrete, continuing to sink for kilometers.
"You senile old man, what the hell do you think you’re doing in my tower?" Another powerful aura from the twelfth ring exploded.
An old man in blue robes appeared beside the emperor.
Qingyi watched the two from afar.
He was about to advance and test his new power when he suddenly froze.
Why the hell did he sense such a strange energy coming from the emperor’s mana?
No... that wasn’t pure mana.
Qingyi gritted his teeth and used his draconic eyes.
Now that the emperor was using his power freely, he realized it.
That was... Qi?
Did the emperor have a Dantian?
