Chapter 634 - Li Tianfa
Chapter 634: 634 - Li Tianfa
"Oh... are you going to talk now?" Qingyi asked, giving the man an gentle pat on the shoulder.
"Y-yes, p-please, just... just kill me, let me rest." The henchman whimpered desperately.
He’d been calling out for his mother for a while now, begging for a quick death. Now, he’d finally given in.
He would tell everything. Absolutely everything.
"Well, start with who gave you this damn demonic training. If your information is good enough, I promise I’ll kill you quickly."
The henchman nodded with teary eyes, his lips parting.
The next moment, he froze.
Qingyi froze too, his eyes widening as he leaped backward in an instinctive reflex.
A flash of light tore through the air at an absurd speed, too fast even for his draconic eyes to react in time.
The crash of the impact was sharp, the henchman’s head snapping to the side, dead before he could even utter a sound.
Slowly, Qingyi turned his face.
His expression hardened as his fingers tightened around the talisman capable of killing celestial emperors.
Out of the void, a few meters in front of him, a figure emerged, floating a few centimeters above the ground.
It was a man of delicate appearance. Narrow shoulders, a slender build, clear and sharp eyes.
His hands stroked a long, thin beard as his gaze settled on Qingyi with a calmness that hid absolutely nothing good.
Seeing that man’s robes, Qingyi knew immediately who he was.
Li Tianfa. The leader of the Celestial Law Pavilion, one of the sect’s ten stellar sovereigns.
Although he was among the weakest in the group, he was still a stellar sovereign worthy of respect, and one who, from what Qingyi had heard within the sect, maintained a very close relationship with Tianhao.
Qingyi glared at him with hostility.
He wouldn’t have minded much if Tianfa had merely executed that damned henchman.
The problem was that the attack had been aimed at both of them at the same time.
Tianfa wanted to kill both him and the informant in one fell swoop.
A disgusting, corrupt snake.
The leader of the Celestial Law Pavilion observed him for a brief moment, his eyes filled with murderous intent before it vanished quickly, replaced by a gentle smile completely devoid of sincerity.
Five other elders appeared beside him, and it was only then that Tianfa bothered to truly control himself.
"Oh... I see that this heroic young master has already disposed of these damned demonic cultivators..." Tianfa displayed the same gentle smile.
Honestly, he had only come this far because the elders who were drinking tea with him sensed the demonic Qi and rushed in this direction.
It was troublesome, but what could he do.
Qingyi stood up and bowed.
"Greetings, elders. I’m sorry for causing you trouble." He clasped his fists respectfully.
Peng Tao, who was behind him, took a few long seconds to realize the situation, standing up hurriedly and bowing as well.
"Don’t worry about these little things, young man." One of the elders stepped forward, studying Qingyi carefully and checking that he wasn’t seriously injured.
"After all, it is our responsibility to look after the disciples. Just tell us, what happened here? Why were they attacking you?"
"I’m not sure what they had against me, Elder." Qingyi decided not to mention Tianhao’s name.
Tianfa was still watching him with that cold stare, and Qingyi knew full well that the bastard certainly had a relationship with Tianhao that was far too close for it to be safe to open his mouth now.
"I received word that they had kidnapped my friend and would kill him if I didn’t arrive in time. When I came here, they ambushed me immediately."
With those words, Qingyi received a satisfied look from Tianfa.
"Hm... I see." The elder sighed, crouching over one of the fallen disciples and sensing his Qi.
There was demonic Qi in the dantian, without a doubt. Glancing at the other elders, all wearing the same grim expression, he let out a long sigh.
"Master Tianfa, we need to examine these bodies and discover the origin of this demonic Qi. The sect cannot tolerate the presence of these wretches!" The elder turned to Tianfa, who nodded in confirmation.
"Indeed, do not worry." The leader of the Celestial Law Pavilion snapped his fingers, and immediately afterward, twenty experts in black armor appeared behind him.
The Supreme Law Squad. The most powerful squad in his pavilion.
"The Celestial Law Pavilion will take care of all this. These accursed demons will not proliferate within our sect."
Ordering his subordinates to collect the corpses, Tianfa departed without deigning to give anyone else a second glance.
Soon, the elder’s eyes fell upon Qingyi.
He was a gentle-looking man, appearing to be forty or at most fifty years old, though his actual age was likely something no ordinary number could reach.
"Young man." He gripped Qingyi’s shoulders firmly. "Long Qingyi, right? Elder Shen has spoken quite a bit about you, hahaha!" The elder laughed heartily with genuine warmth.
"Just, if something like this happens again, contact the Celestial Law Pavilion. If they were handling it, we might even capture one of those pigs and extract all the necessary information.
The pavilion represents punishment for the wicked and forgiveness for the good; trust them."
"I’ll keep these words in mind, Elder." Qingyi bowed his head with respect and reverence in his voice.
The same couldn’t be said for his thoughts.
’Forgiveness for the good and punishment for the wicked, my ass. These corrupt bastards would make even the average politicians on Earth seem only slightly dishonest.
"Very well." The elder smiled. "Return to the dormitories with your friend; we’ll take care of the rest here. Lord Tianfa will find the culprit."
Qingyi didn’t reply, merely nodding and taking Peng Tao with him.
After they had moved far enough away from the battle zone, Peng Tao couldn’t stop his curiosity from overcoming the slight fear he felt toward Qingyi.
"Why didn’t you say it was Tianhao who sent those bastards and that the leader of the Celestial Law Pavilion tried to kill you?"
"Because now is not the time to pick a fight with someone of that caliber. Tianfa could have killed me before I even opened my mouth there." Qingyi replied without taking his eyes off the path ahead. "For now, I’ll be patient."
Peng Tao looked at him with a complicated expression and remained silent.
What did Qingyi mean by "I’ll be patient"?
Did he really believe he stood a chance against a Stellar Sovereign?
