The Corruption Dragon God: Lust System

Chapter 766 - The fate of the system

Chapter 766: 766 - The fate of the system

[What is the host thinking?] The system’s monotone voice echoed in Qingyi’s mind, drawing nothing more than a muffled chuckle from him.

"Nothing, just thinking about how to make my dear system become the happiest woman in the world..."

[...]

"..."

[You...]

"You know what I’m talking about." A faint smile tugged at Qingyi’s lips, and for a brief moment, he felt the system’s voice waver inside his mind, taking on a slightly higher pitch, more feminine than usual.

No further response came, drawing only an amused sigh from him.

"What happens after I fully master the bloodline of the Dragon God of Corruption?" he asked, his voice taking on a much more serious tone this time.

Silence stretched on for a long while, until, finally, a reply came.

[When you fully master your bloodline and reach the pinnacle of the Celestial Emperor realm, I will no longer have a reason to exist and must therefore initiate self-termination protocols.]

"Oh..." Qingyi’s lips parted slightly. For a moment, a tightness pressed against his chest, an unwanted weight settling there.

Although the system always tried to appear cold and distant, Qingyi knew full well that it wasn’t just a soulless machine.

He didn’t want it to disappear. Not like that.

"Ah... looks like I’ll have to work twice as hard to create a body for you, then..." He smiled, pushing away the weight that threatened to settle in his heart.

When no response came, he shook his head with a half-smile. "You’re not the only one who can sense the emotional fluctuations in our connection, you know?"

It was rare for the system to display anything that could be called an emotional fluctuation, but after reaching the Cosmic Domain realm, Qingyi could perceive them with far greater clarity than before.

After all, no one wanted to die. Not even a being whose entire existence had been shaped solely to serve—and then cease to exist.

Qingyi stretched out in the vacuum of the cosmos, still orbiting the planet he had just brought to life.

His eyes then drifted to the status screen floating silently before him.

On one hand, he had made a breakthrough during his attempt to awaken Aether, and that brought him genuine satisfaction.

On the other, realizing he would never again be able to use the system to advance his cultivation caused him pain.

Even though he had known this would happen, it was by no means easy to accept that the path ahead of him would become so much more arduous from this point on.

"Ah... but it was worth it." Qingyi smiled, shaking his head before fixing his gaze on the Heaven-Defying Thunder Sword.

He pointed a single hand toward it, activating his cultivation technique.

Immediately, the sword began to transform in his palm.

[Nghnn~~ Q-Qingyi... my other fragments... what’s happening?] Ruxue’s voice trembled in Qingyi’s mind, accompanied by a sweet, gasping moan as she felt her own power swell and pulse from deep within.

Wave after wave of returning energy flooded every corner of her essence, each surge drawing another shuddering breath from her.

Her lost fragments were finally returning!

The Heaven-Defying Thunder Sword slid out from Qingyi’s robes and hurtled into the vast cosmos.

Its blade blazed with overwhelming intensity, powerful bolts of lightning tearing through the void in every direction, leaving behind sharp, blinding cracks that thundered through the silence of space.

Little by little, the sword began to change shape.

Its silhouette grew more elegant and refined, its edge sharper still, its power multiplying in successive waves that rippled across the cosmos.

Layer upon layer of strength accumulated within it, each one carrying the essence of a returning fragment.

Finally, upon reaching the absolute peak of its potential, the sword stabilized with a monumental explosion of Qi that shook the entire region.

Qingyi smiled gently, satisfied with the result.

Far away, in the southern region, a land dominated by demons, a loud, fury-filled scream tore through the skies.

"WHO DARES?!" The Heavenly Demon’s voice thundered like a devastating explosion as he burst into the vault where he kept his most precious treasures.

The fragments of the Heaven-Defying Thunder Sword were supposed to be there. All of them. Without fail!

So why could he no longer sense their auras?

His powerful body swept through the enormous vault in the blink of an eye, hands tearing relentlessly through mountains of treasures.

He hurled precious artifacts against the walls with sharp cracks, some of them shattering against the dark stone floor as if they were nothing more than trash.

They weren’t there...

The Heavenly Demon’s heart sank in his chest.

A thief?

No... that wasn’t possible.

His mind was directly connected to that vault, and any change, no matter how slight, would have been immediately detected by him.

Yet he hadn’t sensed anyone entering. Not a single sound, not even the slightest fluctuation of Qi.

The fragments had simply vanished, as if they had never been there to begin with.

What the hell could have happened?

The Heavenly Demon’s fury erupted like a volcano, his dark aura radiating throughout the chamber and causing the stone walls to creak.

The only reason he wasn’t already slaughtering everyone in his castle was that he was absolutely certain he was the only being in that entire land who knew of the vault’s existence.

Still, even if his servants wouldn’t be killed directly because of this, he would need to vent his rage on something.

Perhaps death was, after all, a more merciful fate for them.
