The Dark Rebirth of Pandora: Revenge of the Abyss

Chapter 479: Spider Girl

Chapter 479: Spider Girl

I follow this strange spider girl as we leave the city. I remember the system’s warning about not trusting beings from outside the city, that they would be the most dangerous.

But I don’t sense any murderous intent from this spider girl. She only expresses mischief, without any real intention of killing me, which is why I decided to follow her for now.

’What a bizarre anatomy...’ I look at her legs, those spider limbs that look more like weapons than actual legs. Her carapace plates are like heavy armor, while the tips are as sharp as high-level swords.

In fact, I think those legs of hers are the sharpest things I’ve ever seen, aside from Mikael’s sword and Violet’s. It shows how well she’s adapted for combat and survival.

"Staring at someone’s legs like that is weird," she says, continuing forward along the path through the trees with a strange elegance considering her large body.

"Just curious, that’s all," I say, wondering how strong she is. The carapace of her arachnid part looks very hard, so the only vulnerable points are her humanoid torso and above.

’How can she be so beautiful and so strange at the same time?’ Her humanoid torso is undoubtedly beautiful, so it’s truly strange to see this mix of beauty and weirdness.

"So... Arak’Tess... what do you know about Echidna Tiamat?" She said she knew things about my mother and would tell me. I’m only risking coming with her because of that.

"...Hmmmm... how old are you?" she asks curiously.

"3 years..."

"I see, very young... you’re quite strong for someone only 3 years old... Anyway, it makes sense you wouldn’t know much about her being so young. So, I guess I can teach you, but only when we reach my home," she says, quickening her pace.

However, having several extra legs makes her quite fast, so I start running to keep up with her as we move away from the city. We spend about 10 minutes in this rush until we reach a hole in the ground.

"..." She enters the hole with her spider legs, skillfully using all the walls to move through the various tunnels. As for me, I just jump into the hole, falling with gravity, and try to follow her with acrobatics to hit the right passages, until I reach the bottom and see a large circular cavern with a few tunnels.

I’m surprised when I look at the ceiling and see several monster corpses tied up in webs. There are small monsters and large ones, some older and others still dripping blood, so they’re relatively fresh.

"You have... a lot of food," I ask apprehensively, wondering if she’s going to try to do that to me.

"...It’s my stockpile. I’m storing food because it’s an important time in my life. Don’t touch anything. It took me a long time to gather this food. I didn’t invite you here so you could steal my hunts," she stops, looking at me sternly.

"Whoa, hold on. I don’t want to eat rotting corpses or anything similar hunted by someone else. I prefer to eat fresh things I hunted myself," I say while she analyzes my words and gives a nod.

She soon starts walking, going down a tunnel. I follow her, seeing there are even more bodies along the way. I’ve already seen over 40 just in this short time, showing she is strong, very strong.

’Probably an ambush predator like me... after all, it would be impossible to hunt so many prey in a row without setting ambushes...’ Following her, we reach another area that looks more like a home.

There are simple furnishings, and using webs she’s made an elegant and beautiful "decoration." It really looks like a dwelling, with places to sit, tables, chairs that are quite large made for her body, and even a bed.

Everything is made with stones and webs to keep the constructions together and connected. Overall, it’s a very well-made house underground. Moreover, the smell of the place doesn’t leak out, so to anyone outside, this is just a hole and not a spider monster’s home.

"You’ve made an impressive house..." I compliment her as she moves around the place.

"Of course I have. It took me years to find the best spot, to hide it, and to adjust everything for a stable dwelling that won’t be invaded by anyone," she boasts proudly while, using some strange magic in her hands, she forms a chair and tosses it to me.

"Sit. I’ll tell you about Echidna Tiamat as you want to know... and then we can make a deal. After all, I wouldn’t help for free," she says with a sweet smile on her face.

"Great. Depending on the information, I’d really agree to help you quite a bit with hunts or something like that," I agree, curious about my mother.

...

...

...

I look at Pandora while thinking about what to do to kill her. She seems tough, even if she’s weaker than me.

"Let’s see where to start..." I think about where to begin talking about Echidna.

"I know. I’ll explain why no one wants to talk about Echidna and why it’s an uncomfortable topic. Sounds good?"

"Sure. I’m curious why everyone seems uncomfortable when I ask about her," she nods affirmatively.

"Yes, she’s an uncomfortable topic to bring up. This happens for a very simple reason. It’s because of her servants..." Echidna’s servants are really annoying people in every sense.

"The servants?"

"Yes. The truth is, the beings of the Abyss don’t care much that Echidna is the goddess of this place. No one venerates her or cares about her. To everyone, she’s just the predator at the top who should be avoided."

"Echidna also never did much to try to make everyone in the Abyss worship her. So, although everyone in the Abyss knows who Echidna is, no one really cares about her."

"The problem starts with her servants. Echidna has an entire city under her domain, and that city is largely composed of her servants. Most of those servants have levels between 1 billion and 10 billion."

"They are the top of the top in the Abyss’s food chain... and the irritating thing is, they use all their power to hunt for sport."

"And when they do this sport hunting, the food in the Abyss is reduced, leaving many monsters with little food to hunt because those things ate everything for fun."

"And besides the fact that when they do this, the hunt tends to last several years, so most monsters isolate themselves in hiding spots, causing many to starve to death in their own homes."

"Of course, everyone knows this has nothing to do with Echidna, but it’s also a fact that she does nothing to stop her servants from affecting all the inhabitants of the Abyss."

"Because even if they limit their hunting area to a certain radius, still, most monsters in those areas tend to flee to areas that aren’t theirs."

"Which generates an annoying ripple effect, with everyone around being strong, where all the monsters go to places that aren’t theirs just to flee from her servants’ hunting grounds."

"It’s like taking an area and throwing a predator that shouldn’t be there. Everyone has to flee, messing up the ecosystem. And let’s face it, our ecosystem is already a mess!!"

"By the way, the last hunt was 5 years ago, and we’re still trying to recover from the damage. I myself lost several of my prey! Now I’m here with this low stockpile at such an important time in my life!" Since I’m in the egg-laying season, I need a lot of food.

Normally, I would gather large amounts of food for my babies to eat, but because of the last hunt, getting food became harder because everything is still recovering, and the weaker monsters died in general, leaving only tougher monsters in the range of 500,000 level and above.

"Ah... I see... it’s a much simpler reason than I expected..." she says as if it were trivial.

"No, that’s not the only reason. Another reason is that her servants are crazy!!! If one of her servants finds out someone is asking questions about her, they might come hunting you!"

"They have insane fanaticism for Echidna! They’re like a bunch of senseless lunatics who only cause havoc, and not just for Echidna."

"This bizarre fanaticism extends to everything Echidna creates. I even heard they once tried to kidnap the eldest daughter of the Abyss goddess due to some crazy logic that if they had at least the chance to do such a thing, they could die satisfied!!"

"They even deliberately like being killed by the Abyss goddess! It’s sick. Honestly, those lunatics don’t have a shred of sanity or love for their own lives left!!!"

"No one wants to mess with people that crazy," I shiver just thinking about the bizarre stories about them.

"Hmm, you seem tense? Don’t worry, they probably won’t care about you," I say while she looks at me and gives a suspicious nod.

"Yeah, of course, right... uhum... it’s not like I have any connection to them... I’m just curious about the Abyss goddess."

"Well, then I suggest giving up on that curiosity. We’re very far from the area of their city, but rumors spread fast, and they have eyes everywhere," it’s not like this girl would have that chance anyway.

"By the way..." I stop talking when I smell that same sweet scent again that drives me crazy. I start tapping one of my legs on the ground anxiously.

’This smell... what does it remind me of...’ I stare at this girl who seems to be thinking deeply about something.

"You... have a sweet and greasy smell, like a suckling pig," I say, almost drooling, hunger rising.

"...?! Greasy? Don’t call me greasy as if I were a pig!! It’s just my milk and... I mean... forget it! It doesn’t matter! Do you have more information about the Abyss goddess?" she asks, trying to brush off what she said.

I notice how impulsive she is, probably because she’s only two years old. She really has the impulsiveness of someone young.

’Wait... she said milk? She produces milk?’ I halt all my thoughts.

"Yes, I have more information. Wait here a moment," I rush past her, leaving the room, my thoughts struggling to prevail over the hunger. I run across the ceiling, going down another tunnel and climbing up into a secret area.

"...Milk... she produces milk... and by the smell, it’s full of fats and nutrients... more than most beings in the Abyss... food... enough food that 1 liter of it could satisfy my babies’ hunger..." I push the hunger aside for a moment, thinking rationally.

"Her flesh must also be full of fat, a feast for me or for my babies... but milk is a renewable source..." I put my hands on my head, squeezing hard, trying to stay calm and not kill her because of the delicious smell of meat.

Fat is rare in the Abyss. Most monsters have evolved to have minimal stored fat. Aside from a type of monster we call [Suckling Pig] that has a lot of fat, almost nothing in the Abyss has enough fat.

’Capturing her would be more beneficial... an incubator... yes, she’ll do...’ I look at the exit of this secret passage, my instincts that inherited spider traits making me far too instinctive.

"Ah, yes... she’ll do. She undoubtedly will. My children need a warm place and lots of food..." My instincts become uncontrollable, changing the plans. Just killing her and storing her as food won’t work now that I know she produces milk and has lots of fat and nutrients in her body.

’I knew it. I knew she had a good smell...’ Her body is perfect. She will be able to carry my eggs and warm them until they hatch, and then feed them with milk.

She is an investment. As long as I feed her, she’ll keep producing milk, which means I only need to hunt food to feed her, instead of having to hunt food to feed dozens of hatchlings.

"Ah." My hands tremble excitedly as I move across the ceiling, animated by this rare discovery. That’s when the memory comes to me. Milk. I’ve consumed milk before. It was in my infancy, which is why it was hard to remember.

’I need to capture her alive without hurting her too much... I need to change my tactics... I want her.’

Galaxy’s Warning!!

Readers, I decided to leave this warning here to prevent things from getting... weird without context.

The future scenes that will happen in the next Chapters involving the spider girl contain sexually graphic content, yes, but the intent is not to eroticize, but to keep the nature of the Abyss coherent with the brutal biology of the monsters that live in it.

The spider girl, in this case, acts based on real arachnid behaviors, amplified to a humanoid scale that I researched to make it consistent with her behavior.

Brood Parasitism: Using another body as a warm, safe environment to incubate eggs. Here, this means depositing her eggs inside Pandora, using her uterus as a heat source.

Thermoparasitism: Using the heat of another organism to accelerate egg development.

Lactoparasitism / Feeding Parasitism: Using another being’s milk as nutrition — in this case, trying to use Pandora as a "food source" for the hatchlings.

This behavior has no sexual intent within the universe (At least for the spider girl, every act is purely for the reproduction and survival of the offspring, not because it seems erotically appealing to her).

But because it involves Pandora’s "reproductive system" and certain bodily descriptions, the appearance is sexual, and the scene may be uncomfortable.

That’s why the warning is necessary — both to prepare you and because of the platform’s rules that ask me to warn about certain types of content.

Narratively, this exists for a simple reason: the survival of nature. Pandora is still "too civilized," accustomed to the safety of the castle and reckless because she’s managed to handle most things well so far.

The Abyss doesn’t follow laws, morals, or human logic. Here, everything is instinct, violence, and adaptation. This encounter with the spider girl serves as an evolution point — not for her to lose rationality, but to learn how to deal with a wild environment where arrogance is costly.

And of course, before anyone asks: the spider girl’s hatchlings will have nothing from Pandora. They are eggs produced only by the spider girl herself; there is no cross-breeding or hybrids here, despite using her body as biological support.

So Pandora is not the mother of these hatchlings, although nothing stops the hatchlings from deciding Pandora is like a mommy 2!!

Because hatchlings in nature often use the first stimuli to define who their mothers are through a process called [Imprinting], and Pandora in many ways fits as a "mother" from the hatchlings’ perspective.

Anyway, this warning is just to make it clear that what comes next is tense, invasive, strange, and biologically heavy, and may be read as sexual due to the nature of the act — but it has no romantic or sensual focus.

Now then, prepared? Let’s see how Pandora deals with this situation and what lessons she’ll learn from it!! And I’m sorry for the minor spoiler, since this warning kind of makes it clear what will happen! But rules are rules and I need to follow them!

Although you don’t know how it will all play out! So I hope you’re eager to see the first time Pandora will be 100% powerless! Because even in her case with Delfina, Pandora still had psychological control of the act.

Pandora has never before been truly powerless in the face of something! So we can see a new facet of Pandora in this scene!!
