Chapter 632: On Each Side
Chapter 632: On Each Side
"Here’s what you asked for, Elysia. It’s the best I can manage tied to this magic circle." Eryndriel, as the goddess of the elves, speaks with a calm and almost wise tone as she finishes drawing her part of her magic circle. I give a positive nod, agreeing with her.
"It’s perfect, Eryndriel... exactly what we needed." I say, finishing my part of the magic circle. This is a spell of my own creation, based on the invitations to the Empty Universe.
With this magic, we’ll be able to pull Pandora, Echidna, and Azraelith into the final battle exactly where we want them. I just need to finish preparing the combat zone to finish them off.
"You seem excited." Eryndriel makes conversation with a shifty glance as we both stand up and I test the magic circle, trying to summon Elowen’s power. It works, and she appears inside the magic circle for a few seconds before returning to where she was previously.
"Of course I am. Everything is going right. Now I have a solid, more efficient plan, and it’s one we can all pull off. We just need caution so we don’t ruin everything at the last moment." I elaborate for a moment, answering her.
Meanwhile, I smell a strong scent of burning coming from the spent magic circle. Now we just need to mold and change the magic circles to function by pulling specifically those three.
"Elysia, do you have an exact date yet? It would be better if we knew beforehand..." Eryndriel questions as if she has absolutely no faith in my plans, but I just shrug.
"I don’t have one. I’m finishing planning what we’ll do regarding who fights whom first. I more or less know the formation, but it’s a formation that puts us at a huge disadvantage, and knowing Echidna, she’ll force our team to split up."
"For that, I’m developing some specific single-use weapons to be used as extra advantages, since no matter how strong they are, Echidna isn’t as dangerous as Pandora and Azraelith. I’m also developing some spells for us to use."
"If just one of them dies, the advantage swings directly to our side, and killing the others will become easier." I save the record of this magic circle to ensure its effective use and to finish refining it later. Currently, it costs too much, and in the fight, we’ll need all the Mana we have available.
"You’re the expert, Elysia, but you have to give prior notice of at least one to three months." She says something that is obvious I would do. I would never start the fight without warning them in advance.
"There’s no room for that kind of irresponsibility, Eryndriel. I wouldn’t leave you all without prior warning. After all, this involves all our lives. However, it won’t be that long, so strengthen yourself however you can until then." I start to leave the room, exhausted from all the experiments.
"What would you do if Delphina showed up on the enemy side?" Before I leave, she asks this question, which would be an extremely dangerous and high-risk variable.
"She won’t show up. I know that scaly bitch well, and the moment she decided not to join our side, she also decided not to get involved on the opposite side."
"It’s just her personality to avoid everything that bothers her. We’ll deal with her later, because if she did show up, we’d be lost. We wouldn’t be able to win. We already have three enemies who are too strong; we don’t need one more!!"
"I can already imagine the evil plans that freak is making! Scheming to destroy us!!" I say to her, already angry just thinking about Pandora, who I bet is thinking about this upcoming fight.

"Here, Delphina! Thanks for the meal." I hand Delphina my plate, and she smiles at me. Since I’m now in this weaker avatar body, Delphina noticed and decided to invite me to eat.
"It was nothing! You’re always the one arranging get-togethers, so I decided to invite you to one this time!! And to celebrate your return in a more special way." She serves me the food with a smile.
She hands back the plate full of raw meat. The meat is still hot and dripping blood, perfectly the way I like it. Using my hands without caring much for etiquette, I put the meat in my mouth, biting off a large chunk.
"Perfect! You really knew how to choose!" I compliment her with a smile. Since I started using the avatar, I feel like things have returned to a bit of the normalcy I had lost.
"It was nothing, hehehe." She lets out a cute little laugh, serving herself too as she starts eating her portion.
"So, Delphina, how was it with our daughter... did you enjoy raising a child? And I’m sorry I wasn’t a very present mother. I would have liked to take care of her, but as you know, I was busy with the abyss." I try to steer the conversation toward a more sentimental topic.
"It was... complicated. She grew up too fast. It wasn’t quite what I expected from a... daughter. I know it’s natural for children to grow, but she grew up way too fast. Aqua is already an adult, and unfortunately, I participated in her life less than I would have liked." Delphina talks about the "negative" point of growing so fast, which is this extreme independence.
"Tell me about it. My daughters grew up... but they only matured physically. Their minds are still chaotic and messy, and they haven’t learned to deal with failure better. That’s why I threw them into a place that will teach them to become stronger on their own." I just hope none of them die.
"Now, Pandora, let’s put that aside! Talking about our daughter is nice... b-but I’d like something... more personal." She gets shy as she pokes the meat with a knife. I finish eating my piece and smile seductively at her with blood-stained lips.
"Of course, love." In this avatar, more than 99.9999999...% of my power can’t be used. The percentage is so large it would cover many things. And since I can’t use most of my powers in this avatar, I don’t know the current situation of my daughters. I hope they’re okay, but I decide to focus on the current situation with Delphina.

"U-Urgh..." Eclipsya groans in pain as her hand reflexively goes to her stomach. The four of us are crammed underground in a cave. We hear dry cracking sounds above us—a monster that is hunting us.
The cracking sound manages to reach us down here, making the hair on our bodies stand on end. The sound itself is low, but the sensation of the sound reverberating through our bodies is almost terrifying.
"A-Aqua, I-I’m scared..." Lycoris says to Aqua, cowering in a corner. Everyone’s instincts here are on edge. It’s the first time all of us have been in such severe mortal danger, being hunted instead of being the hunters.
"Azazel, do you think we could beat that thing up there?" Aqua asks me as I shake my head.
"No. It’s too strong for me to control that thing’s blood... and I couldn’t pierce its shell..." I murmur, injured. Eclipsya is on the ground, passed out, groaning in pain from the wounds we sustained during the escape.
"Does anyone have any magic left?" I ask, exhausted. I spent hours helping us flee from that thing that wouldn’t stop chasing us. I used up almost my entire magic reserve.
"No. I used up all the magic I had to create the water walls and to apply a speed, healing, and defense buff on us while we were running."
"I-I don’t have any... I-I spent the rest I had left h-healing Eclipsya from t-that fatal wound." Aqua denies first, and then Lycoris denies it too. Lycoris seems the most affected by fear, which makes sense since she has the strongest instincts and physical attributes like hearing, but it ruins everything because she has the strongest attacks among us, and if she’s scared, she can’t help much.
"All we can do is wait down here..."
"B-But what if that thing doesn’t leave? A-Are we going to starve to death down here!!" Lycoris says something that shatters the little motivation I tried to build among us. Even Aqua seems tense. She almost lost her arm, and her thigh has a deep wound that is still closing.
"Haaa... Haaa... I-If we need to... y-you can feed on me... my regeneration depends much less on magic... and I can regenerate my body easily." I say with a trembling voice. The prospect isn’t very pleasant, but if it’s for our survival, it’s best to stay in this hole until that thing disappears, which will need at least a week.
"Azazel, we only have one month to return. We can’t stay hidden forever, even if we use you as food!!!" Aqua says this with severity, and she’s right. We can’t stay here forever.
"But Mama Pandora wants us to get stronger, right? We can’t throw our lives away! I’d rather fail Mama Pandora and return later than the one-month deadline, and come back strong and alive to apologize for falling short of her expectations, than try to rush and die!!" I say, angry at this situation.
"Or better yet!! I think we should stay in this forest and only return when we’re strong enough! That way, Mama Pandora will see that we really want to make her proud and get stronger!!" I say with the same severity the situation demands.
"..." The mood turns to shit as a trembling Lycoris snuggles up to Aqua, and I hug Eclipsya, curling myself around her, afraid of what the future holds for us in this forest.
