Chapter 759: The Goddess of Death Part 3
Chapter 759: The Goddess of Death Part 3
"...What is this?" Pandora asks as I hand her a plushie. It looks like a black dragon with golden scales, very fluffy, and girls seemed to like it in a world I visited before.
"A present. This trip is taking forever, so I thought I’d give you something," I say to Pandora, who takes the plushie. We’ve been traveling through her portals for days now, but we still haven’t reached where she wants to go. She decided to completely change her route, abandoning her plans to enter the Original Pandora’s universe.
"Why did you think I’d like this shitty plushie you got from who knows where?" She says that, but she tucks the toy away inside the shadows instead of crushing it.
"Hey, since you don’t depend on contracts with others anymore, I’ve got a question — what kind of contract did the elf goddess make with you?" She asks something really invasive, but I figure I’ll answer, since she’s apparently going to give me all the energy I need.
"The elf goddess came to me before the battle against Pandora, Echidna, and Azraelith. She offered me 54,403 in exchange for me giving her some power buffs, regeneration, and a spell called [Crimson Negative Influence]. It’s a spell of mine I can share with contractors."
"I see. Though I hate it when you say a number without saying what that number actually is. Well, at least it’s clear she really prepared herself. Looks like I wasn’t the only one getting ready for the most important battle of my life!" Pandora stops opening portals as we come to a halt in a strange world.
’Cars, buildings... airplanes... looks like a world similar to the heroes’ world...’ I don’t know what universe this is because Pandora moves too fast through space. All I know is that we’ve gotten very far from the universe we were in before.
"..." I look around and see we’re drawing a lot of attention while Pandora just casually walks among the people.
"You’re seriously crazy," I tell her as she creates counterfeit money with magic.
"I’m just taking a break. If some divinity shows up, I’ll split her in half. This magic is exhausting. I don’t have infinite power — each portal costs way more energy than thousands of galaxies combined, and I have to open hundreds of them in seconds for the connection between universes," she says casually, unintentionally teaching me her magic.
"You created this. Cool. But how did you come from another timeline? I don’t get that."
"...Omnipotent Pandora is the cause. I caught a glimpse of her and learned a lot from her remnants... or rather, when Pandora became Omnipotent and connected all her versions, it ended up opening gaps so we could observe each other, though most didn’t even see those gaps."
"Hmmm... do you really believe you can become an absolute death goddess?"
"Of course I do," she says while pulling me toward a hotel. She talks to the receptionist, a human woman with brown hair who looks at us like we’re strange, which makes sense — we have very unique appearances.
"Uh... what are you doing? I’m sorry to be intrusive, it’s just... very unusual. I’ve never had anyone dressed... like that," she asks, confused, looking at both of us.
"Oh, we’re two cosplayers and I’m taking my little friend here to rape her in the room, so you might hear some screams and sounds of things breaking, just ignore it hehehe," Pandora says, grabbing the key and tossing money on the counter. The receptionist stares at Pandora with pure confusion at her ’joke’ while she leads me to the room.
"..." I look at the woman and use magic on her brain, stopping her — she was already making a call. I move on with Pandora, who takes me to the designated room. The moment we enter, she just stops walking and faceplants straight onto the floor.
"Would it have killed you to walk a few more steps to the bed? And don’t make jokes like that. Just because your sensitivity and social skills are terrible doesn’t mean people will get it. You trivialize rape, but to humans that’s something serious and disgusting. That woman was about to call the police, just to be safe."
"I’m tired, don’t complain! And between the bed and the floor, both are equally bad. Nothing made by humans could ever have the comfort of the bed I built for myself in my universe. Besides, would it have changed anything if she called the police?" She brings up her universe. I wonder what other differences it had.
"You seem pretty sad when you mention your universe. Losing everything is hard — I get it, since I lost my universe too, though kidnapping someone isn’t on my list of things to do after losing my universe."
"Ha, ha, ha, very funny," she says with pure sarcasm, rolling on the floor until she hits the leg of a table and stops in that corner.
"Are you envious of something?" I ask her, sitting on the bed to wait. This kind of question is all I can do to distract her mind and keep her from trying to torture me for fun — a complicated exercise in risk management.
"...I am... I saw the perfect life. I caught a glimpse of the best Pandora... and I’m deeply envious of that Pandora! The one from the original timeline is the strongest Pandora — omnipotent, she accomplished everything she wanted — but she’s not the happiest, the most satisfied, or the most hopeful."
"...The Pandora who came out best in life is another one, and I’m deeply envious of her. So envious I’ve already considered going to that timeline just to kill everyone she loved so she’d suffer a little. But she is me — making her suffer is pointless when we’re all Pandoras."
"Oh, really?"
"Yes!! So unfair! Everything goes right for her. It’s a timeline where everything was so perfect that she never even suffered what I suffered in the abyss! She never got raped even once in the abyss — she passed through the abyss smoothly."
"She never had Tiny Pandora, Yandere Pandora, and Monster Pandora!! And she didn’t get hurt at all while fighting the heroes and getting her revenge," Pandora vents about things I don’t understand at all. I don’t even know what she’s talking about.
"Sounds nice," I just agree with her.
"Very!! The permanent wound we got in the battle against the heroes was one of the reasons we struggled in the abyss! Without it, the abyss would be WAY easier, because the only goal would be finding Mommy Echidna, and in fights we’d have 100% of our combat potential," she says, outraged over things I obviously don’t know, but which I pretend to know just to let her waste our time.
