Chapter 763: Two Goddesses Who Hate Each Other
Chapter 763: Two Goddesses Who Hate Each Other
"That was completely unnecessary... Echidna," Delphina says with blood on her lips. I punched her in the face the moment she showed up here, and she knows exactly why I did it — so much so that she doesn’t even try to fight back.
"No, Delphina, it wasn’t. That was one hundred percent necessary. Remember what I warned you before? I told you I’d punch you for stealing my daughter from me. I even said I’d do worse — be grateful all you got was a punch," I say, cracking my knuckles. I don’t do anything else, so it doesn’t turn into a fight.
But I still don’t like this stupid fish. The only reason I don’t do anything against her is because Pandora loves her, and because despite my grievances with her, I hated the others far more compared to Delphina.
"Besides, I only don’t kill you because Pandora loves you. You barely escaped. If Pandora didn’t care about you, you can be sure you’d be dead — and you know it." Her relationship with Pandora is the only reason she’s still alive.
"..." She dabs a handkerchief against her lips. We had avoided each other for many years, but today Pandora decided to surprise her, so she left the planet and ended up coming to the moon so she wouldn’t spoil the surprise.
But the moon is mine. Pandora gave it to me as my home. My castle is here, Evangeline is here, and I even put up a barrier around this place. The fact that she invaded this place would be the equivalent of me invading her palace in the sea.
"You really are just as insufferable as always," she says with a tone of anger directed at me, since she can’t return the punch. Between her and me, Pandora will always choose me, so Pandora would be angry if she tried to hurt me.
’Not that she could even land a hit on me anyway.’
"Mom!! Delphina! It’s so good to see you two together!" Pandora appears, stepping out of a portal with a big smile. She’s dressed in an elegant white dress with a black plaid pattern.
"Pandora, it’s been a while since you’ve come to visit me," I say, hugging Pandora, who’s quite voluptuous.
"Hahaha, I’ve been busy. Besides, you know..."
"Yes, I know you’re just an avatar," I tell her with a sigh. I know the real Pandora isn’t in this universe. I don’t even know where she is — she just vanished.
"And how’s Evangeline? Do you like her? Have you been getting along with her? Are you happy with her? Honestly, I almost killed her in the past! It was very close — I barely let her live," she says with concern for me. It’s kind of cute.
’I figured as much... good thing she didn’t do it...’ It’s good that she let Evangeline live. After all, she’s the reincarnation of my sister.
"Yes, I’m fine. Evangeline’s fine too, and we get along really well. She has great taste, and I love how impressed she gets with everything I say. Not to mention we haven’t even covered one percent of everything I know and want to tell her. It’s just a shame her mortal body explodes after a while." It’s unfortunate that she can’t handle it and I periodically have to give her new bodies.
"I’m glad you’re enjoying your time with her, Mom..."
"Delphina, sorry for the delay. I’m preparing a surprise for you, and you would’ve ended up noticing what it was if you were on the planet. I should’ve warned Mom you were coming here! That was my mistake..." Pandora glances at the blood on the handkerchief Delphina is holding.
"...Mom, you seem to really hate Delphina, but she’s always been a pretty evasive goddess. Why do you hate her so much?" Pandora asks me as she picks Delphina up in her arms and sets her sitting on her shoulders, taking the bloodied handkerchief and putting it in her mouth, eating it casually.
Delphina rests her hands on Pandora’s head, placing her face above her arms and giving me an arrogant look for being carried by Pandora.
"She disrupted my life a lot, but my hatred for her is more practical, same as my hatred for Elysia. The ones I truly detested were the Goddess of Nature and the Goddess of Elves. Those two were the ones I held a deep personal grudge against."
"With the others it was just normal hatred." It’s a different kind of hatred, which is why I don’t attack Delphina even with her right in front of me.
"I see... Mom, I have to go, but I’m going to invite you to the birthday party I’m throwing for my daughters!! I’ll hold it in about a month or so!! I hope to see you there, so all of them can have some time with you! Your cute little granddaughters will love it."
"Isn’t that tedious, Pandora?" Delphina, on top of Pandora, makes an offensive gesture at me when I ask Pandora that. Pandora looks up, but only sees Delphina’s smile.
"No, no!! Since we’re beings who live a long time, birthdays would obviously be tedious, but I decided to combine all the birthdays into one! So it’s one birthday for all my daughters! It’s not even their actual birthday."
"Besides, I want them to bond more. They’re sisters — they should love each other a little like sisters, instead of only loving each other incestuously or hating each other deeply."
"Hmm... I’ll go... just give me the date. I think Evangeline would like it."
"Hey, Pandora, why does she have to go? Isn’t it bad for everyone? Look at her — she leaks darkness. She’ll just kill everyone the moment she gets close," Delphina tries to push me out of the plan.
"I’ll handle that, Delphina! Don’t worry!! Focus on the surprise I’m making for you... but know that Mom is going if she wants to!!" I use magic, completely paralyzing Pandora.
"You hate me, I hate you, and nothing will ever change that — not even Pandora. But that doesn’t mean we have to attack each other. You stay quiet and I’ll stay quiet," I say to Delphina, who hugs Pandora’s head.
"...I won’t do anything."
"Neither will I," I say in response to what she said.
"...Then... I suppose that works. Do we have a deal? You know how agreements between goddesses work — you can’t break it," she says with an extremely serious expression.
"...Of course I know, Delphina. We can go see Aradia to make it official..." Neither of us is going to trust being near the other until we have a contract that ensures we won’t kill each other in a casual scenario.
"..." We take each other’s hands. The touch is strange, as if both of us want to pull our hands away from each other. I release Pandora from the magic while it seems like nothing happened.
"Then it’s up to Mom whether she goes or not," Pandora says as if nothing had happened, while we listen to her talking.
Delphina and I keep staring at each other while Pandora, not entirely oblivious to it, just keeps talking.
