Chapter 1186 Biggest Target

"Screeeeeeech"

A long, dragging screech sounded at the back of Hao Xuan's mind along with a mixture of incoherent sounds and images all superimposed over one another.

The base image was that of a bubbling black liquid and the others mixed within it were of different places and people, several of which he recognized.

"GO! I'LL STOP THEM!" Burak was shouting at him.

"TAKE CAR- CHILDRE-"

"AAAAH!"

It was a jumbled mess but Hao Xuan could clearly feel the panic and fear that was spreading throughout.

*Beep*

"Intense psychic waves detected."

[Running Scan]

[Tracing...]

[Scan Complete]

"Possible location discovered, 78% accuracy rate."

Hao Xuan focused his spiritual sense on the spot on his brain that was hurting and forcefully cut off the connection.

"Jarek! That was Jarek!" he yelled. (Jarek was the barbarian that was overtaken by the black goo from the abyss that was within the pyramid.)

"Confirmed. Psychic energy wavelengths show a 97% match."

A small map popped up at the edge of Hao Xuan's line of sight showing the rough location of the psychic call.

It was in the SE (southeast) direction, much different from where all the barbarians had run off to.

"They went the wrong way!"

He looked at the map again to see exactly how far it was from his location.

"Even if they find the traces and go after them it will be too late by then, I could feel they were in great danger. I...have to go."

"Long-range sensors show signs of surroundings energies congregating in the area. The battle is almost over. It would be unwise to go now."

But Hao Xuan shook his head, "You didn't feel what I felt. He was scared to death, they all were. How can I just look the other way knowing full well that I could have helped? I'm not going to just leave them to die. That...is a terrible feeling."

He was sprinting towards the treeline before even the last word left his mouth. Within seconds he reached Grey who was patiently waiting for him in the same spot.

"Go!" Hao Xuan ordered jumping on top of him while pointing in the right direction.

Grey could feel the gravity of the situation and immediately let himself loose on the world.

All the air within 30 meters of him came pouring in and carried them forward. They turned into a flash before shooting forward at breakneck speed.

Every time one of Grey's hooves touched the ground his speed would double and since he wasn't trying to hide his presence anymore the thundering sound carried on for countless miles in all directions.

It truly did sound like thunder.

Hao Xuan even channeled some of his own Qi into Grey which made him neigh loudly just before they broke the sound barrier and then exceeded it several times.

The dark forest was woken up by the commotion. Trees that had been there for hundreds of years were uprooted and thrown about in his wake.

The air hummed and the temperature began to rise. They had cut a straight line through the forest that was visible even from the air.

Hao Xuan who had been holding himself back because of Dai Zhi finally had an outlet. His senses kicked into high gear as Chaos Qi surrounded him from all sides.

They covered 18 kilometers in less than seven seconds. The world had stopped moving around them when Grey came to an abrupt halt.

But when Hao Xuan's gaze fell upon the picture of absolute terror that lay before him, for a moment he did not know what to do.

It was a scene out of a nightmare. Rows upon rows of monstrous creatures that he could not even imagine were standing before him.

Multi-limbed multi-eyed hairy beasts that looked like they were created by combining every creepy crawling creature found within the mortal realms. (Reference Image posted in Authors noted and Discord)

There was an army of them numbering at least in the thousands if not more. They were chasing after a much smaller group composed of just a few hundred people, barely over a thousand at the most.

This group was mostly made up of women and children along with a few elderly individuals that could walk on their own. At the back were close to eighty or so Barbarians trying to hold off the entire might of the incoming foes.

It was like a flashback to the many days they had spent roaming the other worlds because just as Hao Xuan remembered, Burak was standing at the very forefront, purposefully putting himself in front of the rampaging enemy.

It was a sight to behold. He was loud and proud, every time he struck he would scream at the top of his lungs.

"COME AT ME!"

Hao Xuan had figured out a long time ago that he did that with the intention of becoming the biggest target on the battlefield. He wanted to take on any new enemy before anyone else so there would be less pressure on the rest.

"I'M NOT DONE YET! COME HERE!" he screamed through blood and bone, swinging his arms around in a frenzy.
