The Devil Does Not Need to Be Defeated

Chapter 325: “Going To Have To Be a Beast Then.”

Chapter 325: “Going To Have To Be a Beast Then.”

It became completely dark soon.

If this was the Capital, then at this point in time, all kinds of buildings will turn on their magic lights. The magic lights lining the sides of the streets will also begin operating, brightly lighting up the entire city and denying any hint of darkness.

However Jiltry isn’t the prosperous Capital. Each and every house all uses normal oil lamps. The streets also won’t have the costly magic lights to light up the area. That yearly costs of switching in new magic crystals to provide magical power for the magic lights is no small expense, so here, the nights tend to be quite dark. In fact, likely no one would even dare to go out into the streets if not for the knights patrolling, right?

This made Shien fell kind of like he had returned to Lamdrion.

It’s because Lamdrion’s nights were basically the same: Dark and lonely.

Looking at it from this angle, the Capital really does deserve to be called the center of the world. Every single home is able to afford magic lights, and they wouldn’t hold back from using them every single night either. This just shows how wealthy the people of the Capital are.

On the other hand, baring those capitals of major territories where the lords live in, all other cities will all likely be like this one. They won’t have magic lights installed by the roads to fill the city at night with light.

At around this time, likely only a few places that do certain businesses at night would likely have magic lights operating to draw in customers.

Shien’s group had managed to find an inn and successfully check in before the sun had completely set.

Of course, the one who actually found the inn was Lasha, not Shien or Airi.

While Shien and Airi were playing around, the maid in question had disappeared for a while without anyone noticing. After Shien and Airi finally had enough of fooling around with each other and finally decided to find a place to stay, Lasha returned without anyone noticing and told Shien that she had already found them an inn.

It was probably the best inn in the entirety of Jiltry, right?

After all, this particular inn even had a stable for tamed demonic beasts. What ordinary inn could possibly have something like that?

Thanks to that, Yulin got a nice thick injection of magic power from Shien before she also comfortably moved into the stables without needing to worry about sleeping out in the streets.

Shien, Airi, and Lasha moved into the best suite in the inn. Said suite was one that specifically caters to nobles. Not only is it magnificently decorated, it’s also set up in a full apartment style, with multiple bedrooms within it. It’s basically comparable to presidential suits from Shien’s past life.

That said, a place like that is also terrifyingly costly for even a single night.

A normal inn would only cost around a few silver coins for a night’s stay, but here, it had cost 10 full gold coins! It’s basically comparable to a normal family’s earnings for several years.

It it was before, then there’s no way that Shien could have spent so much so freely.

But now, Shien had no problems anymore.

What was that, one might ask?

“It’s because my mount isn’t some kind of pet that only knows how to eat without providing any help back to her owner.”

It had been mentioned before, but a dragon is basically completely made of treasures.

Even putting aside a dragon’s fangs and claws, just the dragon’s blood could be used to make the highest grade of magic potions.

Back in the Capital, there were even magic potions workshops that attempted to contract Shien in the hopes of getting a few drops of dragon tears. They even started with an opening offer of 100 gold.

It’s because dragon tears are also one of the materials required to make several high grade potions. In the past, they could only use wyvern tears to make due, so the quality of their magic potions tended to be fairly low. Thus, now that a true dragon had finally appeared, they would obviously jump at the chance to purchase those kind of rare materials.

Besides them, there were also several famous magic weapon and magic item workshops that attempted to contact Shien in the hopes of getting materials such as dragon scales or dragon saliva from him.

All of those are materials for crafting high grade magic weapons or magic items. Those are extremely valuable materials that many workshops can only dream of.

Ever since that day, Shien had realized that no only did he now have a powerful fighting capable dragon, he also got an unbelievably wealthy money tree.

Airi had even given Shien a disdainful look when Shien finally realized that point.

“You only realized it now of all time? Let’s see if you dare to leave this baby to stay elsewhere anymore!”

Airi had told Shien that during the period when Yuli had been staying in the northern district’s stables, there had been a bunch of fools who attempted to try to pull some scales off of Yulin as a get rich quick scheme.

In the end, all of those fools ended up vaporized by Yulin’s dragon breath. It even ended up causing quite a commotion.

In the end, the stable ended up suppressing the matter entirely. It was because Lucy was the one who ordered that Yulin be taken care of here, and thus, no one in the Capital dared to snub such directions, and they were even terrified that Lucy might blame them for failing to properly take care of Yulin if the matter got out. Otherwise, something like this that ended up resulting in actual deaths would definitely have ended up forcing Shien to get involved.

“Alright, fine. This was indeed my own lack of thought here.”

Shien had personally reflected on the matter quite a few times.

It’s also for that reason that Shien tried to find an inn with stables. He did not want Yulin to be out and exposed.

Lasha had perfectly considered this point and had resolved this issue without anyone noticing. It had to be said, she’s as invincible as always.

Just as described then, the formerly dirt poor Shien had, due to Yulin, suddenly become extremely rich.

Back when they were still in the Capital, Shien had sold some dragon scales, tears, saliva, and blood for quite a lot of income. Even after he became a viscount and thus had to take out money to fix up the Bayztrot residences as well as hiring all the maids and other servant, he still had quite a lot let, so Shien basically has zero money worries now.

“I can just find Lucy if I really end up short on money anyways.”

Shien thought such a thing without any self-awareness of being a sponger.

After all, that Princess was born with all the fortunes of the world. She lacked for nothing beyond men, so why hold back?

Hmm. Now she doesn’t even lack for men anymore.

Although, technically speaking, she only has just the one man, but what did that matter?

At the very least, Shien felt like he could fully satisfy all the desires that Princess might have. In fact, he can even end up making her beg for forgiveness. (Grin)

Thus, just like that, Shien’s group of three entered the inn.

Then, Lasha spent merely three minutes and cleaned the room to a polish, with not a speck of dust to be seen.”

Then, Airi directly headed into her bedroom without even bothering to take a bath. She simply slammed the door shut and started snoring away.

After that… Well, Shien got lonely.

While he’s bathing, he felt like he was missing Diere.

When he went to bed, he felt like he was missing Lucy.

Habits are terrifying things. After Shien no longer had those pleasures that he had gotten accustomed to, he suddenly felt uncomfortable no matter how much he shifted around in his bed. He couldn’t sleep either. In fact, he even felt like just collapsing, dead to the world.

“Am I no longer able to stay away from women anymore?”

Shien started worrying over his life.

So sleeping by oneself is actually this uncomfortable. In that case, just how did he manage to get through his previous 20 years of life?

Was he just visiting “Miss Rosie Palms” every day?

It’s one thing if it was before, but is he going to have to continue to depend on “Ms. Palms” even now?

“No way!”

Shien forcefully restrained the irritation in his heart as he suddenly sat up on his bed.

In the past, he did feel that no woman could compare to the two hands that has accompanied him for 20 years now.

But now, Shien can’t think the same way anymore.

There’s one reason for that.

“Can Lucy eve be considered some average woman?”

She’s the princess of a country, one whose beauty is unmatched across the world, to the point that even goddesses are said to pale before her. She’s the person known as the greatest beauty of all humanity!

Now, he had completely eaten up said unmatched beauty. Does the taste of that even need to be repeated anymore?

Now, after having known the taste of humanity’s number one beauty, can Shien really go back to his past and return to depending on Rosie Palms?

There’s no way that he can stand that!

“It can’t be that, at this point, I’m going to have to instead toss away my basic dignity and instead go out to find one of those special shops?”

Shien was conflicted.

“No way!”

In the end, Shien couldn’t hold it in anymore.

To repeat the words from earlier, after he had already tasted the most delicious thing in the world, can he really go and try to eat what had already passed through the mouths of countless others? Shien simply could not do it.

With no other options left…

“I’m going to have to be a beast then, Miss Lasha.”

Shien could only offer his sincerest apology to a certain young lady who had disappeared off to who knows where.

Thus, Shien got up and got ready to go find Lasha for a little chat.

Yeah, just a chat.

He won’t do anything, okay?

While Shien was trying to make such excuses to himself while heading toward the bedroom with a rather indescribable smile on his face.

Just as he did so, Shien suddenly stopped moving.

“Huh?”

Shien narrowed his eyes as the indescribable smile on his face vanished.

“So some brainless person really did come?”

After muttering that, Shien reached out and opened up the door to his room.

“…!”

At nearly the exact same time, right outside his room, out in the living room, several figures suddenly reacted. They all drew their weapons as they turned to face Shien.

Those were a bunch of people all in black, who had even covered up their faces.

“Good evening.”

Shien came out from his bedroom without the slightest hint of surprise on his face as he smiled at those people in black.

Those black clad people were silent for a moment before they exchanged a glance.

The next second…

“Run!”

The black clad person at leading them let out a dry voice. He sounded like an aged old man.

The other three people in black all immediately reacted to the old man in black’s order and all leaped for the windows.

Unfortunately for them…

“[Enchant – Stop].”

With those words, a wave of magic power rose burst from the floor.

Just as those black clad people attempted to jump out the window, but their feet were instead utterly stuck to the ground, not able to be pulled up at all.

This made all the black clad people’s pupils contract in shock.

Shien didn’t even move just then. He simply opened his mouth to speak.

“Since you’ve already come, why don’t you first have a nice chat with me.”

Shien’s voice was filled with amusement. It was obvious that he had no plans of letting the four of them go.

The four of them then exchanged another glance. All of them saw the determination in each others’ eyes.

Right after that, something that Shien didn’t expect at all happened.

“Stab!”

Right before his eyes, the old man in black acting as the leader aimed his weapon right at his own chest and stabbed down.

Fresh blood sprayed out.

“Stab!” “Stab!” “Stab!”

The other three in place also stabbed their own weapons through themselves without hesitation, dying right there on the spot.
