Chapter 691-692
Chapter 691: Why Curse Though?
“This… what is this…!?”
“Magic?”
“S-Such powerful Binding Magic…!”
The demons exclaimed, feeling the oppressive magic power that immobilized them, their gazes towards Shien changing.
“You…” Even Sheen, the Legendary-level Heterogeneous Spirit, changed his expression, looking at Shien with shock.
Shien ignored them, focusing on the cloaked demon leader.
“Aaaaaaaaaaah…!” The leader screamed, tortured by unimaginable pain.
The other cloaked demons looked on in terror.
Shien watched coldly. He wouldn’t be polite to those who wanted to harm him.
“This is just a small demonstration. I have even more painful Bestowal Magic,” Shien said to the leader, a chilling smile on his face, “If you don’t want to talk, I can make you scream until your throat bleeds dry.”
“So, you can choose, scream or tell the truth.”
“Choose.”
Shien pressed his finger against the leader again, injecting more magic power, intensifying the pain and making the leader scream even louder, terrifying the onlookers.
After a few minutes, the cloaked leader finally reacted.
“Fuck…” he cursed.
Shien raised an eyebrow.
“Slash!”
In the next second, the cloaked leader’s head was severed, blood splattering everywhere.
“Murder!”
“Murder!”
The onlookers gasped, seeing Shien cut down the leader’s head. Fighting was forbidden in Succubus City, and now, with a life taken, this matter wouldn’t end easily. Even Sheen’s face changed slightly, and he fell silent.
Shien flicked the blood off his sword and muttered,
“I gave you a chance, and you cursed at me. You were asking for it.”
Then, he turned his gaze to the other cloaked demons.
They trembled.
Soon, they were also lying in pools of blood, dead.
Their only crime?
Like their leader, they cursed at Shien without hesitation.
“Fuck you all,” Shien cursed back. Did they really think they were loyal martyrs? If they didn’t want to talk, he would have given them a quick death. Why curse?
After Shien dealt with all the cloaked demons, someone finally arrived.
“What are you doing here?”
Liel, accompanied by a group of beautiful female demons, barged in, looking at the bloody scene and Shien standing amidst the corpses, her eyes narrowing.
“Clan Chief Liel!” Sheen called out, as if seeing his savior.
“It’s you?” Liel frowned, “Why are you here?”
Liel clearly knew Sheen. As a Legendary-level expert, although there were many such experts in the Demon Realm, there were only about twenty in Succubus City. It wasn’t difficult for Liel to remember them all.
However, Sheen clearly wasn’t in her good graces.
Sheen, seemingly oblivious to this, said hurriedly,
“Something terrible happened, Clan Chief Liel! Someone defied the rules of Succubus City!” He pointed at Shien, “Capture him quickly!”
The female demons Liel brought with her moved, seemingly ready to capture Shien.
However, Liel stopped them.
“Stand down,” she said, ignoring Sheen’s request, then walked towards Shien.
“What happened?” she asked.
“They tried to harm me,” Shien replied simply, not explaining further.
Liel’s frown deepened. Looking at the dead cloaked demons, she kicked over the leader’s body, revealing his scarred and grim face.
A fierce glint flashed in Liel’s eyes.
“What?” Shien noticed this, “Do you know him?”
“No,” Liel said coldly, “But I can guess his background.”
“Really?” Shien asked, “Then what’s his background?”
Liel didn’t answer immediately, instead turning to everyone present.
“This is none of your business. Disperse.”
With a wave of her hand, Liel dispelled the Binding Magic on everyone.
The demons felt a sense of relief as they regained their freedom, then quickly dispersed, not daring to disobey Liel.
Even Sheen, after regaining his freedom, chuckled awkwardly.
“I helped stop this incident today, Clan Chief Liel. Don’t forget to put in a good word for me with Master Shafney.”
Leaving these words, Sheen quickly retreated, seemingly afraid of Liel’s refusal.
The area was cleared, leaving only Shien, Liel, the female demons, and the corpses of the cloaked demons.
Shien was about to ask again.
But before he could, Liel spoke, her words shocking him.
“They are from the Old Demon Faction,” she said coldly.
These words made the surrounding female demons gasp.
“Old Demon Faction?” Shien’s eyes flickered, “No wonder they used such methods against me.”
If they were demons from Succubus City, even if they disliked Shien, they wouldn’t force the Shajin Clan to poison him, resorting to such underhanded tactics. Not because demons were noble, but because the tribes in Succubus City were powerful, and as a race that respected strength, they wouldn’t use such insidious methods before witnessing his power.
Only the Old Demon Faction, knowing he was the Hero, would resort to such tactics.
“Since the news of the Hero’s appearance spread throughout the Demon Realm, the Old Demon Faction has been inciting unrest, hoping for a war between the Demon Race and the God and Human Races,” Liel said, her gaze towards the cloaked demons filled with disgust.
“After all, they can’t stand the peace between the Demon Race and the God and Human Races, believing that the current Demon Race is groveling before them, seeing it as a disgrace, which is why they call themselves the Old Demon Faction, those pieces of trash.”
For these people, the Hero’s existence was an eyesore, and they wouldn’t miss the chance to incite chaos and disrupt the peace.
“The Demon Lords have been paying attention to these troublemakers, and I, under Master Shafney’s instructions, have also tightened security in Succubus City, so I noticed these guys,” Liel said hatefully, “Since entering Succubus City, they’ve been trying to contact the powerful tribes, and they became even more active after you appeared. I’ve been suspicious of them for a while now.”
Now that they had directly attacked Shien, it proved they were either incited by the Old Demon Faction or were members themselves. Otherwise, with the upcoming marriage between the Demon Race and the Hero, ordinary demons wouldn’t defy the Demon Lords’ orders and try to kill the Hero.
Whether they were incited or were members of the Old Demon Faction didn’t matter. They were connected to the Old Demon Faction, so Liel treated them as such.
“I killed them all. You don’t mind, right?” Shien asked bluntly.
“Even if you didn’t, I would have killed them all later,” Liel said, “The Old Demon Faction are just trash hindering the Demon Lords’ rule. Anyone who dares to defy Master Shafney, I, Liel… no, the entire Stone Woman Clan, will crush them.”
Upon hearing this, the surrounding female demons voiced their agreement. They were clearly the elites of the Stone Woman Clan.
Shien then noticed that these female demons were all Higher Demons above level seventy.
As expected of the strongest tribe in the Succubus Territory, the strongest demon race in Omnipotence.
The Stone Woman Clan’s high-end combat power alone was probably no less than the Royal Knights.
No, perhaps the Stone Woman Clan could even rival the entire Mitra Kingdom.
After all, they had three Legendary-level experts, and Liel herself was a super expert at level ninety-nine, perhaps even stronger than Aldia.
“We’ll handle this. You can go meet your acquaintances,” Liel said, dismissing him.
Shien didn’t intend to stay either, but he suddenly asked,
“That guy called Sheen…” He stopped mid-sentence.
“Forget it.”
Under Liel’s puzzled gaze, Shien shrugged and left.
“How strange,” Liel muttered, then instructed her clansmen to clean up the aftermath. She still needed to purge the suspicious individuals within Succubus City.
Chapter 692: [Sun]
Meanwhile, Sheen of the Heterogeneous Spirit Clan wiped nonexistent sweat from his brow as he walked down the street, some distance from the inn.
“That was scary. I almost died,” he said, patting his chest, still shaken by the memory of being immobilized by the magic power, “A Hero is indeed a Hero. No wonder that person warned us to be careful.”
Leaping into the air, Sheen flew at an astonishing speed towards the Heterogeneous Spirit Clan’s territory.
As the fourth-ranked tribe in Succubus City, their territory was vast and located near the central area, not small or shabby. They were practically nobles of the city.
Powerful auras occasionally emanated from the territory.
As Sheen flew in, several imposing auras locked onto him, then receded upon recognizing his identity. He went directly to the Clan Chief, a slightly older demon standing with his back to him.
“Big brother!” Sheen called out, landing behind him. It was Ses, the Clan Chief and one of the Succubus’s executives.
“You’re back?” Ses asked without turning around.
“Yes,” Sheen replied, still shaken, “I almost didn’t make it back.” He exaggerated the situation.
“What? Were you in danger?” Ses asked, puzzled.
“Sort of,” Sheen sighed, “Not directly, but if that person had wanted to harm me, I wouldn’t have returned.”
Ses understood. “It seems that Hero isn’t to be trifled with.” He pondered, then asked, “What happened to those guys?”
Sheen understood and replied bluntly, “They’re all dead. Just as you said, those petty tricks wouldn’t work against the Hero. They couldn’t even force the Shajin Clan to comply. Useless idiots.”
“That’s normal,” Ses said calmly, “They were just expendable pawns to test the Hero. Did you expect them to achieve anything?”
“That’s true,” Sheen agreed, slightly regretful, “It’s a pity they couldn’t provoke a conflict between the Succubus Fortress and the Hero.”
“Unrealistic, brother,” Ses said dismissively, “The no-fighting rule was established by the Succubus. Since she favors the Hero, she wouldn’t punish him even if he broke the rules.”
“But I thought those in the fortress would be unhappy about the Succubus’s favoritism and try to hinder him,” Sheen said.
“You’re overthinking it,” Ses said calmly, “Their loyalty to the Succubus is absolute. They won’t do anything she dislikes.” As an executive, Ses knew this.
“Is that also true for you, my dear Ses?”
A voice suddenly appeared, making both Ses and Sheen tremble. They knelt towards the source.
A gust of wind, smelling of blood and decay, filled the room.
An elderly, bald man with a long beard and mustache, holding a cane and wearing simple clothes, emerged.
“Greetings, Master Parion,” Ses and Sheen said respectfully.
“Good,” Parion said with a kind smile, but they didn’t dare raise their heads, their eyes filled with fear.
Behind Parion were two middle-aged demons, a man and a woman, their auras no weaker than Ses and Sheen’s, yet they followed like attendants.
Parion walked towards them.
“It seems you’ve met Shien Buztout,” he said kindly, “How is that Hero?”
Sheen looked at his brother, seemingly afraid to speak. Ses hesitated, then said,
“As that person said, this Hero is troublesome. The people Master Parion sent were discovered and eliminated.”
“Is that so?” Parion chuckled, seemingly unconcerned, “As Star said, he’s quite the variable.”
“If Master Parion orders it, we’ll bring the Hero’s head back now,” the male attendant said.
“Even if he’s the Hero, the four of us can take him down,” the female attendant added.
Ses and Sheen exchanged glances, but didn’t speak. Unlike their foolish attendants, they knew the danger. They believed Parion understood this as well. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have followed his instructions, relocating their clan to Succubus City, developing under the Succubus’s banner, and acting as undercover agents.
“Don’t underestimate Heroes,” Parion said slowly, “They are the most unbelievable miracles, even capable of influencing the Demon King and the Supreme God.”
“The Supreme God was almost moved by the first Hero, only closing herself off after he was slain by the Demon King. And the Demon King was defeated by Mitra, proving the Hero’s Holy Sword is our nemesis.”
Parion tapped his cane. “Even if that Hero hasn’t transcended yet, with the Holy Sword, he’s not someone a few Legendary experts can easily defeat. Even I’m not confident. Remember, Star warned us to overestimate him.” He chuckled.
“Can we trust Star?” one attendant asked, “He seems to be plotting something. Even Moon is wary of him.”
“Don’t say that,” Parion said, “He can’t escape the leader’s control. He’s just a puppet. We should be merciful.” He looked at Ses and Sheen, “Don’t touch the Hero for now. We have other tasks. Leave the Hero to Moon, as the leader instructed. Our target is the Succubus.” He looked at them meaningfully, “You two can handle this, right?”
Ses and Sheen felt a tremor in their hearts.
“…We wouldn’t dare disobey,” Ses replied.
“Y… yes,” Sheen added quickly.
“Good,” Parion smiled, “I thought you might have been captivated by the Succubus.”
Ses and Sheen fell silent, their eyes filled with complex emotions. Parion had seen through them. No one could spend so much time with her and not be captivated. They knew they couldn’t disobey Parion’s orders.
Because they were…
“My beloved apostles,” Parion chuckled creepily.
Ses and Sheen lowered their heads and said in unison,
“Everything we have belongs to you, our great Sun Apostle, Master Parion.”
