The Devil Does Not Need to Be Defeated

Chapter 705-706

Chapter 705: “I’ll Accept It.”

Happy times always fly by.

Like the past three days, the night passed quickly.

For the past three days, Shien usually woke up after sunrise.

But this time, he woke up before dawn.

No, he hadn’t slept at all last night.

And he was mercilessly beaten by a certain Succubus.

“I’m going to kill you, you bastard!”

Shafney, her face filled with exhaustion, yet fueled by rage, grabbed a pillow and hit Shien with all her might, despite her lack of strength.

“Are… are you trying to murder your husband…!?”

Shien, also exhausted, barely managed to block the incoming pillows, almost throwing out his back.

Seeing him like this, Shafney’s anger intensified.

“You said you were awake! You said you’d be gentle!” she shouted, feeling her exhaustion again, wanting to bite him.

“I… I couldn’t help myself,” Shien said, embarrassed, wincing from the soreness in his body.

He was drained again.

The reason was simple: he went too far.

“I finally understand why I was so exhausted these past few days, even unconsciously,” Shien complained, “It’s not that I didn’t want to stop, but I couldn’t.”

After all, his opponent was the most beautiful woman in the three realms, the Succubus.

Not just her appearance, but her figure, the smoothness of her skin, the softness of her body, and her mature and seductive aura were all incredibly alluring. She was a true enchantress, capable of driving men to their deaths willingly.

That extreme pleasure, even now, made Shien feel a surge of desire, wanting to continue until he was completely drained.

But Shafney didn’t take this as a compliment.

“You… get out!” Trembling, she pointed at the door, her voice filled with fury, “From now on, you’re not allowed to touch me!”

She was clearly enraged.

“Are you really angry?” Shien blinked, forcing a smile, “Alright, alright, I know I was wrong.”

He hadn’t expected such a strong reaction from her. When he was aroused and wanted to indulge his desires, she didn’t seem to resist much, so he thought she didn’t mind.

Shien didn’t know that most of Shafney’s anger stemmed from helplessness. She couldn’t resist him, even though she wasn’t powerless this time. She could have stopped him, but she didn’t resist at all when he pounced. This was what truly angered her.

In other words, she was angry at herself, not at Shien. Although she knew she wasn’t unwilling to resist, but truly couldn’t.

Just as mentioned before, after their intimate encounter, Shien couldn’t avoid being influenced by Shafney’s power, and neither could she resist his advances.

This was the limitation of her Unique Skill, making her unable to resist him.

This was why Shafney couldn’t refuse him.

Knowing this, she could only sulk and vent her frustration.

Shien, unaware of this, thought she was angry because he went too far.

Shafney wouldn’t explain, simply gritting her teeth.

“I’m not joking,” she said furiously, “From now on, you’re not allowed to force yourself on me, understand?” She was truly afraid of that feeling of helplessness, being manipulated without being able to resist.

“Seriously?” Shien asked, seeing her genuine resistance, feeling a pang of reluctance.

“Of course,” Shafney said seriously, looking at Shien, “I hope you understand that what happened between us was an accident, not something consensual.”

Shien frowned and fell silent.

Seeing him like this, Shafney’s attitude softened.

“I know you just couldn’t help yourself last night, and it wasn’t because you have strong feelings for me, right?” she said, “You’re a man, I understand your impulses, but you should think about why you avoided me so much before.”

Shafney’s words made Shien reflect.

“I didn’t want to be like others, completely captivated by your charm, forgetting my stance, my duties, even the people around me, only seeing you and becoming a pathetic simp. That’s why I avoided you,” he said, understanding what she was trying to say.

What Shafney wanted to say was simple.

“Honestly, I admire that about you,” she said, being truthful with him for the first time.

“I hate those who fawn over me, offer me everything, and cling to me relentlessly. Such people are the most boring in the world to me.”

Not all women liked being easily pursued and unconditionally adored.

Shafney was such a woman, finding those who were instantly captivated by her to be spineless and lacking in willpower, focusing all their attention on a single woman, disregarding themselves and others, just obedient puppets.

That’s why she gave Shien such a high score, since he had his own thoughts and principles, even actively avoiding her.

But last night, Shien had lost control. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have pounced on her so suddenly. Although Shafney also bore some responsibility, having said those suggestive words in that situation, weakening his self-control, his subsequent actions were proof of him succumbing to his impulses.

“You’ve already had me. I’m your first, and probably also your last, so I don’t want you to become the kind of boring person I hate the most. Do you understand?” Shafney was truly worried about this. What happened between them was an accident, but fortunately, it was with Shien, someone she admired. Coupled with other factors, she eventually accepted it. But if Shien became like those boring people, she wouldn’t know what to do.

Therefore, her anger was partly a warning.

Shien, sensing her feelings, relaxed his furrowed brow.

“Alright,” he sighed, saying sincerely this time, “I was indeed impulsive.”

“I’m glad you understand,” Shafney’s expression softened.

However, Shien changed the subject.

“That being said, I can’t agree with you forbidding me from touching you in the future.”

His words stunned Shafney.

Shien sat up and looked directly at her, asking,

“Do you want to end things between us?”

This question, asked so seriously, left Shafney speechless.

Should she end it? It was an accident after all. Shouldn’t it end?

“If I say yes, what will you do?” she asked, feigning composure.

Shien’s answer was:

“If it were any other woman, I wouldn’t agree, as I don’t want to be a man who doesn’t take responsibility,” he said directly, “But if it’s you, I’ll accept it.”

Yes.

He would accept it.

“I don’t want you to think that I’m clinging to you just because of this accident,” Shien looked at Shafney and smiled faintly, “That’s what you hate the most, right?”

Hearing this, Shafney looked up at Shien.

Shien met her gaze, not backing down.

They stared at each other for a long time.

Then, Shafney smiled.

“Yes, that’s what I hate the most.”

The joyful smile from a few days ago reappeared on her face. She could tell that Shien was serious. If she chose to end things, he would accept it without hesitation.

But this reassured her. At least, he hadn’t become the kind of boring person she imagined, clinging to her after having her.

Shien also smiled, but didn’t continue the topic, getting up, wincing from his sore back, and getting dressed.

Shafney, watching this, pulled the blanket over her alluring body, only her bare shoulders exposed.

Then Shien said,

“I’m going back to lie down. Wake me up when it’s time to leave.”

Leaving these words, Shien, his body sore, left the room.

Shafney also felt that she needed more rest.

“What a handful,” she muttered, then lay down.

Before closing her eyes, she decided she needed to think about her future relationship with Shien.

“Perhaps, I can…”

With a vague thought in mind, a smile appeared on Shafney’s lips as she slowly drifted off to sleep.

Chapter 706: Would She Fancy a Mere Man?

Finally, dawn slowly broke.

As daylight arrived, the Succubus Fortress gradually became lively.

Liel appeared early in the morning and, as Shafney’s top executive, started giving orders, getting people to work.

Because today, Shafney would depart for Central City in the Moon Demon Territory.

Thanks to this, the Succubus Fortress became bustling.

Shien, still asleep, was forcibly woken up by Liel.

“We’re about to leave, and you’re still sleeping?” Liel’s tone was filled with dissatisfaction, not just with Shien’s behavior today, but also with his behavior in the past few days.

Seeing his usual tired appearance, she was irritated.

“You’ve consumed so many tonics, and you’re still not in good shape?” Clearly, Liel was angered by Shien’s “weakness.”

Before, Shien would have been hurt by her words.

However, today, he only looked at her with a strange mix of sympathy and pity.

“Why are you looking at me like that?” Liel asked, confused.

“Nothing, nothing,” Shien yawned casually, “Just wondering if you would explode if you knew who made me so exhausted.”

“Huh?” Liel didn’t understand.

Shien naturally wouldn’t tell everyone. “Don’t mind it, I was just joking,” he said, forcing himself to be energetic, “Are we leaving already?”

“Of course,” Liel said, although she was curious about his words, she didn’t pursue it, “Everyone is assembled, only you and Master Shafney are missing.”

“Everyone?” Shien paused mid-yawn and looked at Liel, “Aren’t only Shafney and I going?”

“How is that possible?” Liel looked at Shien with disdain, “How can Her Highness travel without her executives?”

Moreover, Liel wouldn’t allow Shien and Shafney to be alone, even if she had to force others to accompany them.

This poor Stone Woman Clan Chief didn’t know that Shien and Shafney had spent a long time alone last night, with Shien only leaving her room just before dawn. Even the previous nights, they were alone together.

Unaware of this, Liel continued,

“This time, three executives will accompany Master Shafney to Central City in the Moon Demon Territory: myself, Hart of the Bi’an Clan, and Ses of the Heterogeneous Spirit Clan.”

“Ses?” Shien pondered for a moment, then said, “Is that the older brother of that guy called Sheen, the Clan Chief of the Heterogeneous Spirit Clan, one of Shafney’s executives?”

“That’s right,” Liel nodded, “Ses is also bringing his younger brother this time, saying he wants to show him Central City. Hart is also bringing Graykveil, probably for Master Shafney, right?”

So, excluding Shien, five Legendary-level experts, including several top-tier ones, would be accompanying Shafney.

Liel was the strongest in the Succubus Territory, a Stone Woman Clan Chief only one step away from Limit Level, undoubtedly the leader among them.

Hart was the second strongest, at level ninety-seven.

Gray was even stronger than Hart, rivaling Liel. If he hadn’t left home and joined the Demon Race, Aldia’s title as the strongest human might have been threatened.

As for Ses and Sheen…

“They’re going too?” Shien’s tone sounded slightly concerned.

“What?” Liel noticed this, “Is there a problem?”

“No,” Shien said calmly, “I just want to ask about their strength.”

“They’re alright,” Liel said dismissively, “Although the Heterogeneous Spirit Clan is the fourth-ranked tribe in Succubus City, it’s mainly because they have two Legendary-level experts. In terms of individual strength, those two brothers are just average among Legendary-level beings.”

“Really?” Shien asked thoughtfully, “What are their levels?”

Liel didn’t hide it.

“Ses is level ninety-four, ranked fifth among Master Shafney’s eight executives, after the two Rock Giants guarding the gate and a foolish witch punished by Master Shafney. He’s someone the tribes in Succubus City can’t afford to offend, but among us executives, he’s not particularly active or outstanding, just average.”

Liel gave this assessment of a level ninety-four Legendary-level demon.

“As for that Sheen, I heard he’s only level ninety-one, always wanting to become one of Master Shafney’s executives, but he can’t even defeat those Rock Giants who are lower level than him. He’s far inferior to Ses, let alone the other executives. He’s just delusional. This time, he’s probably here not to broaden his horizons, but for Master Shafney, like Graykveil.”

Liel seemed quite displeased about this.

For her, those who had designs on her master were all overestimating themselves.

As she said…

“Master Shafney wouldn’t fancy a mere man. When will these fools understand?”

Liel’s tone was filled with disdain, even glancing at Shien, her words carrying a hidden meaning.

Shien raised an eyebrow, wanting to tell this Stone Woman, who clearly had feelings for her master, that the “mere man” she spoke of had already “had” Shafney several times.

But considering the consequences, he suppressed the urge.

However…

“Level ninety-one?” Shien murmured, “That’s interesting.”

“What?” Liel asked curiously.

“Nothing,” Shien replied, his tone playful, “You should pay more attention to that Sheen. He’s not as weak as you think.”

Saying that, Shien walked past Liel, yawning and heading towards the gathering point.

Liel frowned.

“What does he mean?” She felt there was a hidden meaning in his words.

“Trying to act mysterious,” she muttered, then ignored it, heading towards Shafney’s room.

Succubus Fortress, Plaza before the Gate.

Besides the two Rock Giants standing guard like statues, the people Liel mentioned were already gathered here.

Hart and Gray from the Bi’an Clan.

Ses and Sheen from the Heterogeneous Spirit Clan.

These four Legendary-level experts were chatting.

“I didn’t expect you to come too, Gray,” Ses said to the handsome man standing beside Hart, his tone a mix of surprise and apprehension.

“Even he came?” Sheen muttered, his expression changing slightly upon seeing Gray.

Gray simply smiled at the two brothers, not saying anything.

Hart, however, glanced at Sheen, then at Ses, and then spoke with a smirk,

“I didn’t expect it to be you, Ses. I thought besides me and Liel, only Wendy would be allowed to accompany Her Highness.”

Wendy, mentioned by Hart, was the third-ranked executive under the Succubus, second only to Liel and Hart in strength.

Usually, when Shafney went out, she would only bring Liel with her, the other executives staying in Succubus City to manage the territory. This time, because of the upcoming three-race meeting and the recent unrest in the Demon Realm, after Liel’s suggestion, Shafney decided to increase the number of accompanying executives from one to three.

Upon hearing this news, Hart immediately volunteered, even bringing Gray along as a “free bodyguard,” to secure a spot.

Of the remaining two spots, Liel would definitely take one, and Hart thought the other would go to Wendy, the third-ranked executive.

Unexpectedly, it went to Ses, who was usually quite reserved.

Ses, however, remained expressionless.

“I also paid quite a price to get this spot, even bringing my younger brother along. Otherwise, I might not have been able to compete with Wendy,” he said.

Sheen, standing beside him, chuckled.

“With the two of us, two Legendary-level experts, how could we lose to a single person?”

Even if she was the third-ranked executive, with Ses and Sheen combined, plus some additional “price,” it wasn’t impossible for them to secure a spot.

“The price you paid isn’t just this, is it?” Hart said to Ses, as if trying to scare him, “Wendy didn’t get the spot and knows you’re behind it. He’ll definitely come looking for trouble.”

“I know,” Ses said calmly, his expression unchanged, “But for this rare opportunity to serve Master Shafney, any price is worth it.”

“Well, that’s true,” Hart shrugged and stopped talking.

Until Shien appeared, yawning.
