The Devil Does Not Need to Be Defeated

Chapter 828-829

Chapter 828: Thus, the Entire Army Was Defeated

“Whoosh!”

With a faint whooshing sound, Shien’s fist shot towards Josef like a bullet, carrying enough force to crush his skull and making Josef’s face pale.

A closer look revealed a faint layer of magic power coating Shien’s fist, amplifying the power of that seemingly ordinary punch. This was one of the effects of [Outer Manifestation of Heaven’s Decree]: “When unarmed, depending on the user’s current physical condition, their physical strength will be amplified by 3 to 10 times, and they will possess perfect technique.” Currently, Shien was in peak condition, so his physical strength was amplified tenfold. Combined with the strength gained from reaching Limit Level, the power of this punch was terrifying.

At least, Josef didn’t dare to take it head-on.

“Swoosh!” Riding the wind, Josef retreated explosively, turning into a blur.

However…

“Swoosh!” Shien’s figure also flickered, instantly appearing before the retreating Josef.

“Bang!” His fist landed squarely on Josef’s chest.

“Pfft!” Josef spat out a mouthful of blood, his body flying backwards like a cannonball, creating a sharp whistling sound as he crashed into a distant building, his figure buried beneath the rubble and dust.

“Josef!” Misji cried out.

The onlookers were also in an uproar. The renowned Wind Sword Saint, defeated in one move? How… how was this possible!?

“Roar!” Nobu, who had been waiting for an opportunity, roared like a beast, his body swelling, his muscles bulging, his height increasing, his back rippling as he transformed from a two-meter tiger-man into a three-meter giant.

“Hero—!” he roared, shattering the ground beneath his feet and charging towards Shien. This level ninety-seven chieftain of the second largest beastmen tribe, commanding hundreds of thousands of warriors, lunged at Shien like a beast, his giant fist aimed at Shien’s back.

He was met with a much smaller, yet incredibly powerful fist, coated in a faint layer of magic power.

“Bang—!” The two fists collided, creating a loud crash and a shockwave, but neither yielded.

Shien stopped the Tigerman warrior’s attack with just his fist, raised an eyebrow, and said, his tone a mix of mockery and surprise,

“I didn’t expect you beastmen to join in the fun as well.”

Nobu, feeling the immense power from Shien’s fist, his heart pounding, glared at him.

“Others might fear you, but I don’t, Hero!” he shouted, “There are no cowards in my Tiger Tribe! Even if you’re a Limit Level expert, I, Nobu, will defeat you!” His voice was deafening, making everyone’s hearts race.

Shien, however, wasn’t intimidated, but smiled strangely.

“What if I’m more than just Limit Level?” he asked playfully, his words meaningful.

“Ga…?” Nobu’s voice abruptly stopped.

Shien suddenly attacked, his other fist slamming into Nobu’s abdomen.

“Roar!” Nobu reacted, raising his fist to counter.

“Bang—!” Their fists collided again, creating another shockwave. Shien and Nobu, like two barbarians, one large, one small, completely disregarding technique, began exchanging blows with pure brute force.

“Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!” … Their fists clashed repeatedly, creating thunderous booms, gusts of wind, and shockwaves, a terrifying sight.

Misji, Yuler, and the others watched.

“He can even match Chief Nobu in strength?” Yuler was repeatedly shocked.

“Is that Hero even human?” Misji was even more apprehensive. Nobu’s Unique Skill, [Giant Strength], simply and crudely amplified his strength immensely. With this skill, he was considered the strongest being in the Human Realm, even capable of moving mountains with enough preparation. Facing such immense strength, not to mention humans, even gods and demons wouldn’t dare to take a direct hit. But Shien did just that. Not only because of the tenfold amplification from [Outer Manifestation of Heaven’s Decree], but also because of the protection of [Inner Manifestation of Heaven’s Decree], which prevented him from being injured by the impact.

Therefore, he dared to exchange blows with Nobu like this.

The others also gradually realized something.

“Against Meldo, he used magic.”

“Against Josef, he used teleportation-like speed.”

“And against Chief Nobu, he used brute force.”

“Is he… is he planning to defeat everyone at their own game?” Misji was so shocked that he almost bit his tongue.

Even Yuler’s expression turned grim. If this were true, then Shien was far stronger than they thought, still holding back, even toying with them.

Not just Misji and Yuler, but almost everyone present, all experts and leaders of various factions, noticed this, and they became terrified.

“How can we fight such a strong Hero?”

“We can’t possibly win!”

“Even Laraby’s strongest magician and the Wind Sword Saint lost!”

“We… we can’t defeat him!” Those Legendary experts and faction leaders who were with Misji and the others despaired.

Until…

“No, wait, the Hero’s condition was to cross that line, not defeat him…!” A Legendary expert suddenly shouted, making everyone turn their heads instinctively towards the Buztout residence’s gate. There, Shien’s guards were gone. He, exchanging blows with Nobu, had already moved away from the gate. Only the line remained, clearly visible.

Seeing this, everyone fell silent.

Then, a surge of impulsiveness arose within them.

“Charge!” A Legendary expert couldn’t hold back any longer and rushed towards the Buztout residence’s gate.

This action ignited the others’ impulses.

“Charge—!” In the next second, many shouted, their magic power surging as they rushed towards the gate like hounds smelling blood.

“This is bad!” Misji and Yuler’s expressions changed. They didn’t want to be left behind. But those were all Legendary experts, or at least close to it, their levels above eighty. They couldn’t stop them in such a short time.

Just as they were about to watch those people cross the line drawn by Shien, a figure descended from the sky.

“Didn’t I already say?” a childish voice echoed throughout the plaza.

“None of you are going in.”

As her words fell, a scorching dragon breath erupted from the girl who had landed before the Buztout residence’s gate. Puffing out her cheeks like a child about to blow, she unleashed a terrifying torrent of flames.

“Boom—!” The dragon breath landed precisely on the ground, creating a massive explosion.

“Aaaaaaaaaaah—!” The Legendary experts and faction leaders charging towards the gate were sent flying, rolling through the flames and crashing to the ground like garbage.

“Hmph!” Yulin, her mouth still emitting faint traces of dragon fire, put her hands on her hips, looking smug.

“Y-You…”

“Sneak attack… interference…”

“Despicable…!”

The fallen experts and leaders, lying on the ground, groaning, condemned her.

Unfortunately…

“Didn’t you hear what my master said?” Yulin sneered, “He said you could cross that line within an hour, then you win. But he never said he was the only one stopping you.” She curled her lip, adding, “Although, even if it were just Master, you wouldn’t be able to get through.”

Just as she finished speaking, a loud thud echoed from the distance.

“Bang—!” Shien, who had been exchanging blows with Nobu, landed a powerful blow on the unprepared Nobu, sending him flying like a ball, creating a gust of wind.

“Roar!” Nobu could only let out a pained cry as he crashed to the ground like a giant rock, kicking up a cloud of dust that obscured his figure.

Thus, Nobu was also defeated.

“That oaf’s strength is truly terrifying,” Shien said, shaking his fist and wincing slightly. Nobu’s strength was indeed monstrous, even his tenfold amplified physical strength couldn’t match it. If it weren’t for his level being higher than Nobu’s, his maximum growth in strength at each level, his perfect technique, and [Inner Manifestation of Heaven’s Decree] negating the impact, he wouldn’t have been able to exchange blows with Nobu like that.

Shien looked around. Nobu and Josef were buried under the rubble. Meldo was still clutching his stomach, unable to stand. The other Legendary experts and faction leaders were all lying on the ground after Yulin’s dragon breath.

Only…

“The two of you are left, right?”

Shien looked at Yuler and Misji.

“Gulp…” Misji swallowed nervously.

“…” Yuler remained silent.

“Want to fight?” Shien even asked kindly.

Misji’s face was filled with bitterness, and Yuler sighed.

Then, they both raised their hands in surrender.

Thus, the entire army was defeated.

Chapter 829: Shafney! Enters the Stage!

A few minutes had passed since Shien’s one-hour declaration.

In just those few minutes, not only the top-tier Legendary experts like Meldo, Josef, and Nobu, but even the other Legendary figures and faction leaders had fallen to the ground, groaning in pain.

Shien stood amidst the fallen, like a king surveying a battlefield, his figure not particularly imposing, yet radiating dominance. The onlookers stared, their shock turning into numbness, unable to tear their gazes away. Even those hidden in the shadows, drawn by the commotion, were stunned.

“Is this the Hero?”

“Is this Shien Buztout’s true strength?”

“He didn’t even draw his Holy Sword.”

“Having only been here for half a year, how did he become so strong?”

Such thoughts filled their minds, confused and frustrated, unable to find an answer.

But one thing was clear:

Although young and new to this world, Shien wasn’t a pushover. Not only that, but this Hero was fundamentally different from those of the past, not to be judged by conventional standards. No Hero in history had been so domineering, so ruthless towards his fellow humans.

This Hero is not to be trifled with.

This was the thought of everyone present, both open and hidden.

Shien proved with his actions that he wasn’t a rigid, rule-abiding hero. On the contrary, he was short-tempered, his emotions volatile, unwilling to suffer any loss.

As he himself put it,

“Reincarnating into another world and still being a pushover would be a disgrace.”

Therefore, even towards Yuler, with whom he had a decent relationship, his attitude was firm. And now, it was the same.

“Since no one can cross this line, I’ll have to ask you to leave,” he said, his tone brooking no argument. These words made many hearts sink.

“…We just want to see Her Highness, the Succubus. Can’t you make an exception?” Misji pleaded, his face a mix of disappointment and frustration.

He was truly unwilling to give up. For over twenty years, Shafney’s image had appeared countless times in his dreams, leaving him feeling empty upon waking. As the king of one of the most powerful nations in the Human Realm, he had enjoyed a life of luxury and power, obtaining everything he desired, yet Shafney remained unattainable.

He didn’t have any delusional fantasies of being with her.

He knew that although he was at the apex of the Human Race, he was still far inferior to her.

Therefore, he only wanted to see her again, to have her look at him, to exchange a few words with her. That would be enough.

Not just Misji, but everyone present felt the same.

They didn’t dare to dream of anything more than easing their lovesickness.

Shafney truly was a disaster in every sense of the word, unintentionally becoming the object of countless people’s desires, a truly exaggerated phenomenon. And this charm was her own, not some mysterious power. She simply captivated countless hearts with her beauty, her demeanor, her every move, her every smile, her natural and genuine self.

Even though she herself disdained everyone, showing no interest, not even bothering to have a proper conversation or acknowledge them, those who saw her were still completely enthralled. This was why she was called the “Succubus.”

The other Demon Lords’ titles were related to their powers, but Shafney’s title had nothing to do with her abilities, solely based on her charm, showing her uniqueness.

Shien understood their feelings. After all, even he struggled to resist her allure, having to endure it many times. Others were naturally even more susceptible.

However…

“Why bother?” he asked bluntly, before everyone present, “Don’t you know that Shafney doesn’t want to see you, that she’s never even paid attention to you? Why are you so stubbornly obsessed with her?”

These words silenced everyone. Even Misji and Yuler’s faces were grim, filled with bitterness, falling silent.

Even Josef, returning from afar, limping, stopped and said nothing. Nobu, pushing aside the rubble, clutching his abdomen and covered in wounds, also remained silent. Those present either hung their heads or shed tears of pain, a faint sadness filling the air.

Shien’s blunt words had exposed the truth they were most unwilling to face.

They knew he was right.

Shafney had never truly looked at them, nor did she want to see them.

Twenty years ago, those present were just insignificant members of the countless people captivated by her mere presence, small, insignificant, distant, and unattainable. They were like ordinary people watching a celebrity, no matter how much they shouted and cheered, they couldn’t even catch a single glance from that dazzling figure in the spotlight. In the end, they could only watch her leave, heartbroken and lost.

Even now, having come here, what could they do?

For the Succubus, they were still just insignificant admirers.

Their status, their strength, their position, their power, might seem impressive to others, but in her eyes, they were nothing.

Then, what right did they have to demand her attention?

“There’s really no need for this,” Shien said, stating his thoughts frankly.

“With your status and power, you can have anything you want in the Human Realm. Why lower yourselves for a Succubus who doesn’t even care about you, living such pathetic lives?”

This was the only difference between Shien and those present.

He also struggled to resist Shafney’s allure, but he wouldn’t demean himself because of it.

Chasing after someone who didn’t care about him?

Trying to please someone who treated him coldly?

He wouldn’t do such a thing.

Moreover, although Shafney was, in many ways, the “best” woman, weren’t the women around him also good?

Wasn’t the most beautiful woman in the Human Race, whom he could do as he pleased with, good enough?

Wasn’t his straightforward and proactive “little wife,” who constantly offered him “benefits,” bathed with him, and always asked him to “play with her,” good enough?

Wasn’t the obedient, docile, and devoted elf girl, who secretly loved him and worried about him, blushing and shy, good enough?

Now, he even had a Dragon Demon as his fiancée, and a goddess who constantly fawned over him, practically throwing herself at him.

He was a winner in life, even having a “daughter” (Lilith) and a “pet” (Yulin).

Weren’t these women exceptional?

Weren’t they beautiful?

Why give up an entire forest for a single tree, a tree that was so aloof and didn’t even care about him?

How foolish could they be?

Because of this, although repeatedly tempted by Shafney, Shien never allowed himself to be captivated, always maintaining his distance.

It wasn’t that he wanted to be a gentleman, but his male ego wouldn’t allow him to be so demeaned. If she didn’t care about him, then he wouldn’t care about her either.

Of course, not everyone could understand his thoughts.

Meldo, perhaps the only one present who hadn’t met Shafney and wasn’t captivated by her, struggled to his feet and sneered.

“That sounds nice, but who knows if you’re just trying to monopolize the Succubus and prevent others from approaching her?” he said sarcastically.

Shien’s face turned cold.

However, before he could react, something unexpected happened.

“Boom!” A surge of magic power, like a cannonball, erupted from the Buztout residence, striking Meldo before he could even react and exploding.

“Pfft!” Meldo coughed up a mouthful of blood, his body flying backwards and crashing to the ground, rolling several times before stopping. He lay motionless, a pool of blood gradually forming beneath him.

“Meldo!” Misji’s face paled.

Before he could express his anger, a pleasant voice, like a celestial melody, echoed, reaching everyone’s ears.

“Truly overestimating yourself.”

That beautiful voice stunned everyone, their faces lighting up. They all turned their gazes towards the Buztout residence’s gate.

There, a figure that made the world pale in comparison slowly walked out.
