Chapter 2350: Bahamut, The Lord of Thunder

Chapter 2350: Bahamut, The Lord of Thunder

The Avatar stood still. This wasn’t the first time he had fought Bahamut, and it shouldn’t be the last. He might be old, but dragons get stronger the older they get, and this geezer here... is special.

As Bahamut looked at the Avatar, the ground around them started smoking as the air became dry and stale. The moment he lifted his cane, the Avatar jumped back at blinding speed.

[Judgement] The entire area evaporated into nothing as a thunderclap shattered everything around. And when the Avatar landed, he saw a titanic wall of fire and ice rushing toward him like it was the end of the world, and the moment he tried to dodge, he got hit by Bahamut’s first strike right to the head.

Feeling the cane crushing his skull down to the ground, the Avatar swung a tentacle up and deflected the cane to the side before kicking the fabric of time back into place. Sadly, he was a moment too early for that, because Bahamut had flipped time upside down, and now the wall of ice and fire hit first before [Judgement]’s thunderclap.

Before the abomination army could notice it, Bahamut was already crushing the Avatar’s chest to the ground with a punch, and time itself cracked around them like glass. "You think I care about this foolish war?" Bahamut smiled as his entire body turned into a blur, moving through shattered time to every single abomination in the army facing him and appearing behind them like a ghost.

With a single stab with his clawed fist, he killed them all before grabbing the Avatar by the head and shifting through time with him, appearing right back at the moment when Amaterasu was about to chase Nyar’s true body. So instead of staying to fight, Bahamut killed half of the abomination army in the future and then teleported back to the near past, leaving the fight to Chad while he chased Amaterasu.

He was a titanic dragon, far bigger than many words and boasting six platinum wings, a massive bulk, and enough flashing divine power that it easily evaporated any abomination that dared look anywhere in his direction.

Amaterasu didn’t even need to look back, as thanks to the Eyes of the Lord, she could easily see both the past and future, and easily see behind her where Bahamut chased her. This old man was keen on protecting her, as he saw her as akin to his grandma, as many consider her to be like an older sister to the progenitors.

"Grandma! Wait!" Bahamut roared behind her, and she shouted back. "Shut up! I don’t want the oldest dragon to call me Grandma! Do you know how old that makes me feel?"

Hearing that, he flapped his wings harder and reached her. "You’re one of the few older than me who still live." He then looked forward. "We got company!"

"I know. Can you burn them?" She replied. Since using the Eyes of the Lord was draining her mentally enough that she didn’t want to waste her energy here. She needed to shove every last drop of power she got down Nyar’s throat when they reach him. If she could safely end the war here, it’ll be a glorious day.

A fraction of a second later, four Avatars burst out of the darkness, aiming to slow them down. Clearly, Nyar was trying to flee or move his true body, and so he sent them here to slow Amaterasu and Bahamut down. But he failed to account for one thing.

Bahamut, the oldest living dragon and the first to crack the secrets of twilight. He might be old, he might be nice most of the time, and he might even look calm. But out of them all, he was probably the most aggressive of them all.

Before the four Avatars could even think for a fraction of a second, Bahamut’s titanic jaw was already open, and from it, a cone of time-sundering energy exploded forward, aging and de-aging them at the same time for billions of years. And at the same time, multiple versions of Bahamut from the past and future shredded the Avatars with their claws in the sundered time like soft-cooked pork.

This could be their last stand; this could be the moment Amaterasu brings victory to the universe, and so, even if it kills him, even if it’s impossible, Bahamut would put out his all and make sure she safely reaches her destination. He didn’t care who the Hells showed up now to stop them; it could be ten of Nyar’s true bodies for all he cares, he’ll violently shred them to pieces all the same.

Across their journey, more than twenty avatars attacked to stop Amaterasu, but all of them were violently torn apart and eaten by Bahamut. The old dragon was on a rabid kill-streak, blasting through anything that Nyar sent to them; even the Avatars who were made specifically to counter him didn’t last a fraction of a second against him.

And soon, they reached it indeed. What looked like a massive, writhing tumor of flesh and blood half as big as the universe and festering with abominations. Seeing it, Amaterasu growled. This wasn’t just Nyar’s true body, but the universe he and his kind consumed last; it was a rotting carcass of disease and parasites.

But what they found wasn’t just this rotten carcass of a universe, but Vorvadoss and his brother Yaggdytha, and the two seemed to be the last line of defense. "The Lord of Space and the Lord of Time. I guess the bastard didn’t die last time."

Bahamut shifted to his humanoid form so he wouldn’t be an easy target and looked back at Amaterasu. "I’ll hold them back. Charge a big one and shove it into that thing down there." He cracked his shoulders and floated toward the two primordial abominations.

"You can’t take on those two alone." She growled at him, and Bahamut laughed. "As if we have a choice. You focus on ending this war. I’ll rip those two a new one." And he flashed toward them. Vorvadoss tried to dodge, but Bahamut grabbed him by the head tail and threw him toward the rotten universe.

Yaggdytha flew in and kicked Bahamut in the back, trying to stop him, but instead of freezing his time and killing him, Yaggdytha felt as if he was hit by a car as Bahamut’s time control was going out of control. In the next fraction of a second, he was grabbed by the neck and punched in the face hard enough that his skull shattered.

Vorvadoss rushed in to save his brother, and he managed to do that by smacking Bahamut aside and trying to force-teleport him away. But the moment Bahamut was sent back, he flew right at them, and the two didn’t waste a second and started swinging at him.

But something was off about Bahamut. He wasn’t slow, he didn’t look weak, and he was nothing like how they remembered fighting him before. He felt like a completely different person. He dodged, blocked, and deflected their attacks at blinding speed, and exchanged punches like they owed him money, fighting with enough aggression that it looked as if the fate of all existence rested on him tearing them apart, and it, in fact, did depend on that.

Bahamut, the Lord of Thunder... The magnanimous god of Metallic dragons, many seemed to forget that to show kindness to your enemy, you need to be powerful enough to absolutely dominate them in battle. That’s how he gained his title, which his late sister Tiamat bestowed on him: the Juggernaut God Father of Obliteration.
