The Epic Tale of Chaos vs Order

Chapter 1917: Dark Sky?

Chapter 1917: Dark Sky?

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

Azan could not help but scream in pure agony as blood poured like crimson rain from his wounds. The cuts inflicted upon his enormous body were so deep and brutal that they seemed capable of cleaving him apart completely.

Yet, it wasn’t just flesh that Cain’s attack sliced through; the invisible blades of energy penetrated even deeper, tearing through spiritual energy, fracturing his essence, and embedding themselves deep into Azan’s bloodline. His very bloodline began to disintegrate, forcibly unraveling as the destructive energy grew within him, consuming him from the inside out.

Cain prepared to deliver the final strike, poised to erase the powerful warrior of the Legio Eldritch Race once and for all. However, his eyes abruptly narrowed, and his attention diverted to the side. In that split second, a colossal gravitational spear—larger than a small continent—hurtled through the air, aimed straight at the gathered Primarch Deities and Divine Cultivators of the Scarlet Path below him.

The one responsible for this desperate assault was obviously Divine Calamity. In an act true to his cowardly nature, Divine Calamity had launched the spear not out of bravery but as a distraction, simultaneously turning around and frantically fleeing the scene. Once again faced with mortal peril, his true colors emerged, choosing deception and retreat over courage and dignity.

"Hmph!" Cain sneered disdainfully. With a dismissive wave of his hand, he unleashed a powerful shockwave, hurling the severely wounded Azan crashing far into the horizon. Then, with a flicker of his form, Cain vanished, instantly appearing directly before the massive gravitational spear. His golden eyes glowed brilliantly, radiating unmatched confidence and dominance.

Without hesitation, Cain delivered a swift, powerful kick to the spear’s pointed tip, causing the gigantic weapon to spin uncontrollably mid-air. Yet, this was merely the beginning. A second kick followed immediately, infused with all the immense physical strength Cain could muster. This strike hit the base of the spear, reversing its momentum and sending it flying straight back toward its cowardly creator.

Divine Calamity, fully occupied with escaping, was entirely oblivious to Cain’s effortless counterattack. Only when agonizing pain erupted from his back, and he looked down in horror to see his own weapon protruding through his abdomen, did he realize his strategy had catastrophically failed.

"ARRGHHHH!" Divine Calamity roared, his voice inhuman with anguish and desperation. Yet, even then, he refused to succumb to despair entirely. Driven by sheer primal instinct, he continued to flee, determined to escape the Everlife Continent at any cost. After all, this continent was the very source empowering the Scarlet King. Perhaps, he reasoned desperately, if he could just break free of its boundaries, he might survive.

Cain easily perceived the man’s frantic thoughts. Though flawed and born from desperation, the logic was clear enough. Yet Cain cared nothing for Divine Calamity’s reasoning; escape was impossible.

With a calm but commanding gesture, Cain raised his hand toward the sky.

"RUMBLE!"

The entire Everlife Continent trembled violently, shuddering as if in fear, and the disturbance quickly extended outward into the void itself. A terrifying suction force emerged from Cain’s palm, greedily devouring every shred of energy within range. All the devoured power rapidly condensed into Cain’s hand, forming an ominous black star-like aura, dense and growing increasingly powerful.

Cain’s voice resonated with cosmic authority: "Resurrection Innate Ability—Blast Variant."

All at once, the energy of gluttony, evolution, and entropy merged chaotically within his grasp, transforming into a black hole encircled by a blazing white event horizon.

"Great Conqueror Cannon."

Cain pointed his hand toward the fleeing Divine Calamity, and instantly, the black hole erupted, releasing a devastating beam of energy moving faster than the speed of light itself. Space itself warped around its path, further accelerating its speed and potency. Anything unfortunate enough to obstruct this unstoppable force—physical or ethereal—was instantly reduced to absolute nothingness, leaving behind a corridor of perfect annihilation.

"NOOOO!" Divine Calamity’s agonized roar echoed in terror as the beam inevitably reached him, engulfing his gigantic Saturn-like form entirely.

Cain had unleashed the pinnacle of his Resurrection Innate Abilities—a devastating cannon capable of irreversible destruction, strong enough to obliterate an entire continent. Fortunately, his precise control ensured that the World Will of the Everstreif Empyrean World did not see it as a threat; otherwise, the consequences would have been dire.

A satisfied smile appeared on Cain’s face as he finally felt sure that Divine Calamity had been thoroughly annihilated.

Yet, just as he began to relax, an unexpected phenomenon occurred from within the heart of the destructive beam. A powerful, unknown psychic force surged violently upward, escaping the destructive energies with unsettling ease.

Cain’s expression immediately shifted from satisfaction to disbelief as he clearly saw Divine Calamity’s soul enveloped protectively within a sphere of dark psychic energy. He had assimilated the man’s memories earlier, and there was no trace or indication of such a strange trump card existing within them. It became instantly clear to Cain that even Divine Calamity himself was unaware of this hidden safeguard.

All other thoughts quickly vanished from Cain’s mind when he sensed something within that dark sphere—a power signature that filled his heart with an intense, murderous intent.

"Dark Sky," Cain murmured, rage boiling inside him.

The sinister power protecting Divine Calamity’s soul matched precisely the power he had encountered before—the unmistakable essence of the Depravita known as Dark Sky, and the force of the world he saw when he connected with the Rank 12 Depravita Astral Supremacy Star.

This dark psychic energy seemed alive, intelligently perceiving Cain’s fierce hostility. Immediately sensing danger, it fled at a speed that defied comprehension, swiftly distancing itself from the Scarlet King.

Cain quickly raised his hand to pursue. Divine Calamity was no longer just an irritating nuisance to be eliminated—he was now critically valuable. Capturing him meant an opportunity to dissect his soul, trace back the mysterious energy to its origin, and potentially uncover the hidden masterminds behind Dark Sky.

But, just as Cain prepared to launch himself after the escaping sphere, a sudden, violent tremor wracked his entire body. Blood streamed from his eyes, ears, and mouth, and his vision blurred dangerously. A sharp, crippling pain surged through him, forcing him to pause mid-action.
