Chapter 1970: Cain, Amon, and Bael vs Legion (I)

The liquid inside the Coffin of Life and Death was meant to bathe both body and soul, to flow gently and gradually through them, repairing and revitalizing. Yet there was no time for patience or caution. An Alpha-Omega Overgod abomination was bearing down upon him with murderous intent, and hesitation meant certain death.

Cain opened his mouth and forced the liquid inside, allowing it to surge not just into his stomach but into his lungs, internal organs, and even his very blood vessels. The essence spread like fire, flooding every channel of his body. Yet it did not stop there. His eyes glowed, becoming luminous whirlpools that drew the liquid further inward, guiding it beyond flesh, into the depths of his Soul Dimension, where it raged like a storm and flooded every crack.

Immediately, the intertwined power of life and death spread through him. His body and soul pulsed with radiance as the cracks marring his Soul Dimension began to mend, while the countless wounds across his flesh knitted themselves together. His essence was being restored.

But such power came at a cost.

Cain’s body began to bulge, his Soul Dimension trembling as if it could collapse at any moment. A second later, he fell violently to the ground, convulsing in agony. Blood poured from his nose, mouth, and eyes, while sweat drenched him from every pore. The energy contained in the liquid was far too overwhelming for an ArchDeity to bear directly. After all, this was the treasure of an Alpha-Omega Overgod. If Cain failed to find a way to release the overwhelming force building within him, his body would detonate into fragments.

“Goddammit! Out of the frying pan, into the fire!”

Though his body writhed and his mouth could form no words, Cain’s mind still cursed bitterly. Yet amidst the despair, clarity shone in his gaze. He forced himself to think, to search for a path of survival, even as explosions thundered above, rocking the sky with fire and destruction.

While Cain convulsed upon the ground, the battle in the sky grew ever fiercer.

The Ouroboros Cult’s defensive mechanisms unleashed their full might. Weapons fired without pause, formations glowed like stars, and energy cannons rained ceaseless destruction upon the colossal monstrosity. Every inch of the Sect’s sacred dimension trembled under the clash.

Bael and Amon, too, pushed their powers to their absolute limits. Their colossal forms radiated fury and strength as they struck against the vast pillar of teeth, claws, and writhing maws that Legion sent plunging toward the Sacred Sanctum. The brothers’ strength had grown tremendously after their passage through the Fourth and Fifth Rings, pushing them to the very border of Late Arch-Deity battle power. Even so, their bodies were being shredded with wounds as they fought, for Legion’s might was vast beyond measure.

Legion’s hatred only deepened. Its rage grew with every passing moment, as more of its essence was burned away by the Ouroboros formation and as the brothers continued to block its advance.

“Damn ants! Get out of the way!”

The roar shook the skies. Legion’s vast body revolved with terrible force as its power surged, skyrocketing beyond anything before. Before Bael or Amon could react, countless monstrous tentacles, jagged claws, and gaping maws interweaved and dove downward. The brothers were struck and hurled aside, sent flying into the distance as the abomination continued its dive, descending directly upon Cain. The sheer weight of its strike carried power enough to pulverize bones and erase all life in its path.

“BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!”

The Sacred Sanctum shook violently as the colossal tentacle crashed down upon it. The force sent shockwaves tearing across the entire Ouroboros stronghold. A gleam of savage satisfaction flickered in Legion’s countless eyes. At last, its prey would be obliterated.

But that triumph lasted only an instant.

The massive tentacle shuddered, then suddenly split into billions of fragments, as though sundered by countless invisible blades.

“AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!”

A scream of agony thundered from Legion as part of its vast body was shredded apart.

Amon and Bael, dazed and bloodied from the impact, stared in shock and awe at what emerged from the Sacred Sanctum.

A figure was rising.

“Resurrección.”

The single word echoed across the Sacred Dimension.

Cain rose into the air, his aura blazing like an unquenchable flame. Every Path of Power, bloodline, inheritance, and faculty he possessed fused together into a singular form, radiating overwhelming might. The energy contained in the liquid of the Coffin of Life and Death was so immense that it threatened to destroy him. There was no way to expel it, no vessel strong enough to contain it. Thus, Cain had chosen the only path left—he would burn it. He would use it as fuel to trigger his ultimate transformation.

“Attack with everything you have in the next minute! Burn your soul, your life, in order to reach your maximum power!”

Cain’s roar shook the skies as he ascended higher, his eyes gleaming with determination and killing intent.

To burn one’s life, soul, and will was the greatest sacrifice any warrior could make, a command Bael and Amon had never imagined they would obey. Yet as they heard the voice of the Scarlet King and looked into his blazing eyes, a flame ignited within them. A flash of crimson lit their vision, and without hesitation, they followed.

“ARGHHHHHHHHHHH!”

The two brothers roared, their powers erupting like never before as they ascended alongside Cain.

“Imperial Apex Smash!”

Cain did not lag behind them. His aura burst outward as he struck with a fist that carried all his might, connecting with Legion’s vast body.

“BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!”

The impact triggered an explosion so immense that Legion’s galactic-sized form trembled. The abomination endured, but Cain was not finished. At the point of impact, the energy reignited. Ancient runes surfaced, instantly birthing another explosion.

“BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!”

“BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!”

“BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!”

Blast after blast detonated in rapid succession, echoing like the drums of judgment. The sky shook, the dimension roared, and at last—

“AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!”

Legion howled in torment as a massive hole was blasted through the center of its titanic form. Through that wound, Cain ascended higher, rising into the highest sky.

“You damned ant!”

Legion roared with unending fury, its countless eyes blazing with hatred as it focused entirely on Cain. But before it could strike back, a massive sword ascended from below, carrying the vitality and strength of worlds, while a bombardment of fire and darkness, infused with the essence of death itself, struck in unison.
