Chapter 1997: Taking care of Dionisio
Chapter 1997: Taking care of Dionisio
By the time Azazel’s mind and body reacted to Cain, it was already too late.
The Scarlet King’s fist had landed squarely on his chest.
The sound was hideous—like metal twisting, like bones cracking under the weight of a collapsing world, and organs trembled under the gravitational twist that could turn soons into tornadoes. Cain’s blow carried every ounce of power his body, soul, and mind could summon, and in the next instant, Azazel’s form was blasted upward, smashing through the walls of the dimension itself and hurled high into the sky.
Dionisio’s eyes widened, his arrogance shattering into raw disbelief as he saw the horrifying power of the Scarlet King. That strike—the speed, the precision, the sheer brutality—was absolute. It was not merely strength. It was will, a ferocity that someone like him could never hope to match.
His horror reached a whole new level when Cain’s gaze turned toward him. Those cold, golden eyes, flowing with red flames, locked on his soul, and terror bloomed inside Dionisio like poison.
"Libera—"
He barely began the invocation to fuse with his Alter-Ego when Cain was already there. The Scarlet King’s leg rose high, then fell like the hammer of the cosmos. His heel struck Dionisio’s skull with such catastrophic force that the Archdeity was driven downward, plummeting through layer after layer of earth, shattering the very bedrock of the island. He was crushed so far beneath the surface that no sign of him remained.
So much happened in so little time. Described, it seemed long. In reality, it all unfolded in less than a nanosecond.
After taking care of the duo, Cain felt the world freeze. He could perceive every detail—the RainbowSky cultivators frozen mid-scream, the island trembling as Dionisio’s body carved its crater, the shockwaves spidering through the dimension. Of course, reality was still moving at normal speed, but his mind and body had accelerated so far that he stood apart from the flow of time itself.
And then he trembled. His heart thrashed violently, threatening to burst.
Tenth Gear. The state was beyond powerful, but it forced a strain upon his body that even with all his upgrades and enhancements could scarcely endure. Another second at this intensity would have killed him outright. If not for the full might of NecroSkin surrounding his heart, reinfocing the muscles and tissues, it would have already exploded before he could have even landed a blow.
NecroSkin gave him a second, but it had already passed. He could no longer sustain it.
Cain slowed his heart back to Ninth Gear, the power dimming, though his body still radiated volcanic pressure. He raised his eyes to the sky, fixing on Azazel. He would have loved nothing more than to capitalize on that first devastating strike against the True Depravita, but he first needed to stabilize his condition. Luckily, he had powerful allies.
And indeed, they were already moving.
Azazel was fighting to reclaim control of his body, the earlier blow having caught him entirely by surprise. The force had been devastating. His chest felt as though it had been caved in, his organs rattled, his psychic blood searing. Just as he steadied himself, the sky split apart.
Three colossal figures descended, each world-sized and radiant with annihilation.
The first was an entity of fire and darkness, its skull aflame as it clutched a tome that pulsed with the power of death itself—Amon, the Godslayer Human.
The second was a warrior of life and strength incarnate. Two heartbeats thundered inside his chest, each one doubling his power, his massive sword radiating white light—Bael, the Inferno Daemon
And then came the strongest of all.
A being of living flame and shadow, a towering infernal knight who embodied destruction itself. His body was a furnace of black fire, his silhouette veined with molten cracks of crimson and orange, as though he had been forged from volcanic wrath. The flames around him never ceased to grow, always breaking limits, always hungering for higher peaks. In his grip was a colossal blade, a weapon that pulsed like a world on the verge of eruption. Leonidas, the master of Doomslayer Heaven.
The trio had prepared for this moment. Their lives, souls, and wills ignited together through the Samsara Seal, burning existence itself in order to force their battle strength beyond its natural peak. And then they struck.
"Damn it!"
For the first time, the always-composed Azazel cursed aloud. The three titans slammed into him simultaneously. Their combined might detonated like the collision of suns. Light brighter than stars engulfed him, flames scorching one half of his body while crushing force shattered the other.
Blood spewed from his mouth as he was hurled like a broken doll across the sky. His frame was battered, half-charred, half-shattered. The damage was catastrophic. If not for the unnatural resilience of his Depravita Constitution, he would have been left crippled.
Yet Azazel endured.
He forced his essence to burn, feeding on his life force to stabilize his injuries. His power roared back into motion. His body halted mid-flight. His eyes sharpened with murderous intent as his power erupted once more.
And then it came.
Eternity Breaker.
Reality itself shifted.
The world turned grey.
Time froze. Leonidas, Bael, and Amon were locked in place, their bodies still glowing with power, but utterly paralyzed. This was Azazel’s realm—a dominion where only he could move, where he could slaughter foes before they even perceived what was happening.
At least, that was how it should have been.
Azazel began to step toward the frozen trio, intent on ending them, when movement drew his eyes. His pupils constricted.
A figure was still moving.
Cain.
The Scarlet King marched through the grey world, rising from the shattered island below. Red vapor streamed from his body, his heart steady now at Ninth Gear. His golden eyes blazed with fury and exhilaration.
A ferocious smile stretched across his lips as he locked onto Azazel.
With that same terrifying speed that had already humbled gods, he flashed forward.
