Chapter 2148: Meylin vs the Overseer
Chapter 2148: Meylin vs the Overseer
Cain, Meylin, Ana, the Enlightened One, Braldy, and Tiramisu could not tear their eyes from the battlefield. The clash unfolding before them was breathtaking in scope and power, expanding their understanding of what was possible for ArchDeities..
Both the Crimson Exarch and the Overseer fought with cultivation bases only at the Middle ArchDeity Rank, yet their mastery over The Flow elevated the battle far beyond that level. The battle they performed was so incredible that even Overgods would have struggled to match them.
It wasn’t just their destructive power that stunned the Neo-Demon and the others, but the artistry with which they commanded the Flow and its Aspects. Their movements were unpredictable, their attacks transcendent, their skill beyond what could be considered divine.
The duel grew more violent with each passing second, the air thick with clashing energy. Wounds appeared on both sides, but while the Crimson Exarch held his ground with incredible resolve, the Overseer’s sheer strength, erratic rhythm, and unique mastery of The Flow gave him the upper hand.
Little by little, the Crimson Exarch’s body accumulated injuries. He used the Flow to mend his wounds, but not quickly enough, and his battle strength was weakening due to the damage.
Finally, an explosion split the sky as the Overseer forged an opening and his blade carved through the left side of the Crimson Exarch’s chest, sending a stream of blood spiraling through the air. The impact hurled his body downward, crashing into the metallic ground with cataclysmic force.
The Crimson Exarch spat blood as he rolled to a stop. He felt his left lung burning and filling up with blood. Unfortunately, there was no time to register pain as the Overseer was already upon him, weapon raised for the killing blow.
Snarling through bloodied teeth, the Crimson Exarch aimed both guns and fired simultaneously. The recoil blasted him backward, propelling him through the air just as the Overseer’s strike obliterated the spot where he had stood.
The Overseer did not stop and continued to chase after the Crimson Exarch, determined to end the life of the young man. The Crimson Exarch, on the other hand, just continued to shoot across the arena until finally slamming through the force wall.
Instantly, the killing intent radiating from the Overseer vanished as the battle was over. The barrier dissolved, and the Overseer’s wounds faded as if they had never existed. His power surged back to its unfathomable peak, a level that none of the present could match, even if they were working together.
The Crimson Exarch was not so fortunate. The gash across his chest still burned, his breathing ragged as pain and exhaustion washed over him. Yet his will did not waver. He steadied himself, sat cross-legged, and entered meditation, guiding energy through his body to heal.
Cain, Meylin, Tiramisu, and the Enlightened One exchanged solemn glances before turning their eyes to the Overseer.
It was now their turn.
And none of them believed they could win.
This was not cowardice; it was a clear, objective understanding of reality. The Overseer’s power existed beyond reason. Among them, Cain had the highest chance due to his low cultivation base and mastery of the Flow, but he was meant to face the Overseer last. That left the next challenger to be decided among the remaining three.
"I’ll go."
The voice came from the True Depravita of Original Sin, Meylin. Her expression was calm, her eyes sharp with determination. In terms of Flow mastery, the Enlightened One was second only to Cain, but Meylin’s immortal constitution gave her greater endurance, and perhaps, a chance to last longer.
Cain, the Enlightened One, and Tiramisu nodded silently as Meylin stepped forward.
Cain’s crimson eyes glowed faintly. He shut out everything else, focusing solely on observing the battle to come. Every moment, every movement of the Overseer could yield vital insight. He would need all of it, for that entity’s strength was beyond comprehension, and the only way he could face it was if he knew every move in his arsenal.
When Meylin crossed within a thousand meters, the translucent force wall appeared once more.
"Challenger cultivation base: Middle Archdeity," the Overseer intoned.
A moment later, his own energy shifted to perfectly mirror hers.
"Defeat me, and you will advance to the Eighth Ring.
The battle will not end until you defeat me, retreat behind the force wall, or perish.
The duel will begin in one minute... or upon your first strike."
It was the same process as before.
Meylin didn’t waste a heartbeat. The Sinful Lotus manifested behind her, and her energy erupted. The Heartseer eye on her forehead blazed gold, spinning faster and faster as her command over Resonance deepened.
She tightened her grip on both swords, pouring her full strength into them. The air around her shimmered as raw power condensed, bending the Flow to her will.
Each second of the countdown she used to its fullest, breathing, gathering, aligning.
Then, as the fifty-ninth second arrived, Meylin moved.
She swung both blades in a seamless motion.
Two arcs of energy tore forward, the second following the first like its shadow. The first arc blazed with incredible might, fast enough to severely wound a Peak Archdeity.
But none of them expected the Overseer to be troubled.
With effortless grace, he swung his weapon and diverted the first arc aside. Then he turned to intercept the second.
And failed.
His weapon passed straight through it.
Shock flickered across his otherwise stoic face. The second arc didn’t behave like energy at all; it phased through matter, untouchable.
The others didn’t understand what had happened, but Tiramisu’s eyes burned with realization. As the True Depravita of Primal Fury, she could perceive the hidden essence of the second arc.
"It’s not energy," she murmured. "It’s pure psychic essence, intangible and flawless."
Before the Overseer could react, the arc of psychic essence reached him. It didn’t cut his flesh or leave a visible wound. It simply passed through him, entering his chest.
