Chapter 1347: Regenerate, Memories, and the Sub-world II
Chapter 1347: Regenerate, Memories, and the Sub-world II
As he walked, Souta began assessing his current strength. Although he was still an Initial Fifth Stage monster, his combat power was comparable to that of an ordinary Ninth Shackle Realm expert or an Advanced Fifth Stage monster.
His arsenal of skills had also expanded considerably after becoming a Night Overlord. Moreover, he had gained a thorough understanding of Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 spells. Countless spell structures were etched into his mind, and he understood the complex formations of their magic circles like the back of his hand.
As he examined the memories of the Night Overlord, he suddenly felt a chill run down his spine.
He abruptly stopped in his tracks as an overwhelming presence stirred deep within his mind.
“This…?!”
He saw her.
And she looked straight at him.
A God-rank being feared by countless people.
One of the Bringers of Calamity.
The God’s Will.
One of the Ten Commandments had encountered the Night Overlord in the past.
The Commandment of Patience.
In the memory, a woman appeared before the Night Overlord, staring directly into his eyes.
“Are you there? It’s been ages, and I’m nearing my limit. The promise… I’ll fulfill it myself. I’m running out of patience.”
Although her gaze seemed to pass right through the Night Overlord, Souta couldn’t help but remember that moment vividly.
The Night Overlord hadn’t known that she was the Commandment of Patience. However, the aura she unconsciously emitted had been enough to fill him with terror.
Now that the Night Overlord’s memories had become his own, so too had his experiences. Souta could genuinely feel the fear that the Night Overlord had experienced upon encountering her.
It was as though he had been standing there himself, witnessing that terrifying existence with his own eyes.
Thud!
Souta fell to his knees, gasping for breath. Beads of sweat trickled down his forehead as his body trembled uncontrollably.
“Huff… I didn’t realize that becoming a Night Overlord would make me inherit his trauma, not just his combat experience.”
He had inherited everything, including the memories from when the Night Overlord was still a child. Even the most trivial and seemingly useless memories had become part of him.
“So… am I still Souta, or am I the Night Overlord?”
Souta stared at his hands, his expression clouded with uncertainty.
This…
“I… I’m still Souta.”
He muttered the words to himself, as though trying to convince himself that the memories hadn’t changed who he was.
“I have to reach the level of the Monster Lord!”
The Night Overlord’s greatest desire had been to reach the level of the Gods. After his failed ascension, that desire had gradually turned into an obsession. Now, it was slowly resurfacing within Souta’s heart.
Even the Night Overlord’s fear of death, along with his dread of dying without accomplishing anything, was beginning to clash with Souta’s own subconscious.
“All that matters is that I’ve become stronger. With enough strength, I’ll be able to solve every problem.”
Souta spoke to himself, trying to push aside the unsettling thoughts.
For now, he shouldn’t dwell on such things.
He slowly rose to his feet and continued walking, contemplating the adjustments he needed to make to his current abilities.
His darkness abilities were sufficient for now, but he should be able to learn other things much faster with his newfound knowledge. He decided to focus on learning more Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 Light-element spells.
At this point, Souta was practically a textbook mage. He could construct complex magic circles without any difficulty. Although other spells would require further research, he was confident that he could master them given enough time.
As for his Archetype, it was still incomplete. There were many aspects he needed to improve, and he believed he would soon be able to perfect the Fifth and Sixth Forms. He already had a blueprint for both, but some adjustments were still necessary.
Hmm…?
Suddenly, Souta snapped out of his thoughts. He turned his head toward the blue sky, his eyes slowly narrowing.
“It’s here…”
…
Outside Imperium, on a certain planet…
The planet was uninhabitable. Its environment was far too harsh to support ordinary life, lacking nearly every necessity required for survival. Most importantly, it had no natural mana, which was the primary reason it had been classified as an uninhabitable planet.
It was nothing more than a dead world.
Although many powerful creatures could survive in such an environment, none of them chose to settle there. The lack of natural mana severely hindered their growth, making the planet an undesirable place to live.
Above the barren world, a clone of Souta floated silently, gazing out into the vast expanse of dark, star-filled space.
It had taken him some time to reach this place. Although he knew its location, navigating through space had proven more difficult than he had anticipated. However, he quickly adapted and eventually discovered several habitable planets along the way.
And now, he was here.
Souta gazed at a distant galaxy, his expression growing solemn.
It was the galaxy that housed the main star system of the Council of High Worlds.
His target.
“You people spread rumors throughout Imperium that Alice was a demon…”
His eyes narrowed as a cold glint flashed across them.
“So, this will be quick. I’m going to take back what’s mine.”
…
In a galaxy known as the Great Tribunal, there was a star system with five planets revolving around a massive sun. These five planets represented the five major factions within the Council of High-Worlds, as well as the five God-rank beings who stood at the pinnacle of their respective factions.
Each planet had been reshaped to suit the preferences of its respective God-rank being. Their descendants resided on these worlds, and the Council’s most powerful experts were stationed across the five planets.
Suddenly, the five planets, no, the entire galaxy trembled as a terrifying wave of mana engulfed everything.
Rumble!!
One planet after another began to collapse. Countless people across the galaxy felt an overwhelming pressure descend upon them, leaving them struggling to breathe. Some fell to their knees, unable to withstand the suffocating force.
Something was descending.
And whatever it was, it brought nothing good with it.
From afar, Souta stared at the galaxy. He had known this would happen, and that was precisely why he had come here.
Before the battle in the Great Shen Empire, Souta had already laid out his plan. He knew the battle would take place there and that the Lord of the Wood would descend, but he had no idea how it would happen. Therefore, he made preparations in advance.
When the Dragon Council held its meeting, he explained his plan and asked several members to assist him.
He asked Xue Yi to go there so that he would have someone to help keep some of their enemies occupied. Alexander had also gone there, although Souta didn’t know why he hadn’t appeared in the central region.
Still, everything had worked out.
He had also asked Esriel to help him hold back the Tenth Shackle Realm expert from the Council of High-Worlds.
As for how he knew the Council would send someone after him, Souta was the one who had set everything in motion.
His clone had spread the news that the Blood Lightning Monster had returned and would be participating in the battle in the Great Shen Empire. The Council had received the information, but they couldn’t verify whether it was true.
Nevertheless, Souta knew they would send someone to Imperium to investigate his return.
After all, the moment they exposed Alice’s identity was the moment they made an enemy of Souta.
From that point onward, Souta and the Council of High-Worlds were enemies.
The Council wanted him dead. They didn’t want him to grow any stronger because they feared the potential he possessed.
The other factions in Imperium were also aware of Souta’s potential, but unlike the Council, they weren’t afraid of him. After all, the established factions in Imperium had stood for thousands of years. They had confidence in their own strength. Even if Souta grew more powerful in the future, he would still be just one person.
The Three Bringers of Calamity were powerful, but even they had to hide and scheme from behind the established factions of Imperium.
That was the confidence possessed by massive factions like the Holy Lands.
The Council of High-Worlds, however, was different. They lacked that same confidence, which was why they feared the potential Souta had demonstrated in the past.
Therefore, Souta had guessed that they would send people to Imperium to investigate whether the rumors of his return to the Great Shen Empire were true.
As he had expected, the Council sent a group of experts to deal with him. However, Souta had already prepared for this possibility. He asked Esriel to hold back the strongest among them and allow the rest to enter Imperium.
Souta still wasn’t strong enough to hold his own against a Tenth Shackle Realm expert. If he could, he wouldn’t have needed to ask Esriel for help. Fortunately, she agreed to his request.
After the battle, Souta’s main body was disintegrated by a peak Fifth Stage monster. He had anticipated this possibility and had already prepared a way to survive. Before his body was destroyed, he had cast a drop of his blood away, ensuring that he wouldn’t have to regenerate from one of his clones.
