The Extra Can't be A Hero

Chapter 260 260: The Tale of Amon the Great (2)

Chapter 260 260: The Tale of Amon the Great (2)

As Amon tore free from Nirvana's dreamscape, a faint breath brushed against his skin, warm, alive, real. His eyes fluttered open, light slowly seeping into his mind like dawn breaking after an endless night. When his vision cleared, he found himself gazing at a sight so unreal it could've belonged to the dream he'd just escaped.

Beside him lay a young goddess, serene and radiant. One slender arm draped across his chest, her fingers curled lightly against his skin as though she feared he might vanish if she let go. Amon turned his head, and their eyes met, her ruby irises shimmering with both mischief and affection.

Then Yue smiled, the kind of smile that spoke of triumph and relief, and without hesitation, leaned forward to claim his lips. The kiss was clumsy at first, awkward in its innocence. Their teeth bumped, their breaths tangled, yet neither pulled away.

Instead, Amon found himself responding instinctively, his heart racing, his mind blank.

Yue's eagerness softened into tenderness, and Amon matched her rhythm, his movements growing gentler, surer. When he brushed his hand through her silken hair and nipped lightly at her lower lip, Yue let out a quiet gasp that sent a shiver down his spine.

Somewhere between affection and desire, the world blurred around them until Amon found himself above her, guided by emotion he could no longer restrain.

"Rise and shine, sleepyhead."

"Yue…"

Amon blushed and tilted his head away. He was unsure of how to react. After unlocking his emotions once more, he'd realised that the emotion that kept him next to Yue wasn't duty or obligation, and neither did he see her as a mere business partner.

Amon… genuinely loved Yue.

And he didn't know how to handle that emotion.

"There are… many things that I want to say."

"I know… and I have a handful of things I would like to say too. But…"

Yue lifted herself out of the bed, as much as she really didn't want to, and adjusted her clothes. They were a little wrinkled after lying next to Amon for an extended period, but Yue didn't mind. In fact, she enjoyed the tousled look, as it hinted that they had actually done something.

"I would love to let you rest and whisper sweet nothings with you, but the Demon Cult won't let us. They are about to cast the Third Calamity."

"... Has it reached that stage?"

At Yue's words, Amon finally snapped back to reality. His golden eyes, once out of focus, instantly locked in.

"Yes, while you were incapacitated…"

Yue began explaining everything, and it didn't take long for Amon to realise the severity of their predicament.

"So, Leon is facing the Mind Stealer now?"

"Yes," Yue nodded grimly. "He's with Lord Carmen and Gallahad, so he should be fine. But, judging by how much demonic mana there is in the sky now…"

Yue glanced out the window and felt an ominous chill run down her spine. If not for protecting Amon, she would have run straight to the Demon Cult's base and dealt with the threat herself. Fortunately, with her lover now awake… She didn't have to hold back anymore.

"We managed to destroy twenty of those shrines, so they can't unleash the full spell. But, even this much is enough to wipe Zephys off the face of the planet."

"It's only a matter of time before meteors come falling."

"So we must act now!"

Yue grabbed onto Amon's arm, ready to teleport him to the battlefield at a moment's notice. But, Amon looked hesitant; no, he resisted.

"Amon?"

"Yue, gather the Sword Saint, Leon's mother, Grandpa Alrock, the Sky Spear, and everyone else. Once we're gathered, teleport us straight to where Leon is. As for myself… give me a few minutes."

"A few minutes? To do what?"

Amon didn't respond to Yue's question. Instead, he sat down quietly and closed his eyes, his breathing steadying as he entered meditation.

Yue watched in silence, her expression softening when seven radiant suns and seven luminous moons began to orbit around him, symbols of his dual nature. And in that instant, she understood. Amon, the Commander of Eldorin, the most gifted prodigy the Solaris House had ever produced, was breaking through.

But this was no ordinary advancement.

Having reclaimed his emotions and reaffirmed his desires, Amon now moved with unshakable purpose. His body lifted from the ground, suspended in a gentle glow as the essence of his soul began to unfurl. The seven moons that had always defined his power shimmered, and then multiplied, becoming nine.

From the very beginning, Amon had merely borrowed the body and bloodline of Solaris. His true essence had always been lunar. And now that he had accepted his true self, he no longer sought to suppress it.

The imbalance between his solar and lunar affinities was no longer an issue; instead, the Solar energy bowed in reverence, yielding to the divine lunar force that claimed its rightful place within him.

Behind him, nine ethereal lunar maidens took form, their silhouettes woven from moonlight and divinity. They sang a celestial hymn that resonated through the heavens, their voices lifting Amon higher, guiding him toward his perfected lunar state.

If the Solaris Mystic Art culminated in the Embodiment of the Sun, then this… this was its counterpart…

And within that transcendence appeared a familiar figure: Number 23—the man who had once carried out countless killings at another's command.

The broken, obedient shadow of who Amon once was.

Amon looked at him, truly looked, and his heart trembled.

"You don't have to hurt anymore," he whispered, tears falling freely. "I'll take it from here."

The phantom gave a faint, almost peaceful smile before dissolving into light. Number 23 melted into Amon's soul, and in that moment, the two became one… a single being, whole at last.

The final Lunar Mystic Art: The Lunar Blade.

It was Amon's rightful place in this world… not as the extra, but as the protagonist.

When Amon opened his eyes once more, he found Yue surrounded by the very people he had asked her to gather. A heavy silence hung in the air, the kind born not of fear, but of awe.

Each of them reacted differently to the sight before them. The Sword Saint's expression was tense, a rare unease creasing his brow as he sensed the tranquil yet overwhelming power coursing through Amon's veins. The Ocean Goddess instinctively bowed her head, unable to meet his gaze, her divine instincts whispering reverence. The Sky Spear nearly dropped his weapon, his eyes widening as he felt a familiar majesty, the same commanding presence once radiated by the Emperor he had served.

And Alrock Solaris, the Solaris Saint himself, could only tremble as he raised a shaking hand and pointed toward the nine moons orbiting behind Amon. His voice faltered, disbelief and pride mingling in equal measure.

"A-Amon, y-you…"

"I'll explain everything later."

As they spoke, the first meteor made its descent. It crashed into the barrier created by the Staff of Yiirun, causing a city-wide earthquake. Sensing the danger, the other indomitable figures knew that it wasn't the time to be asking questions.

"Let's go. Leon needs us."

❖❖❖

As Amon walked in front of Leon, he tapped on the young Hero's shoulder, smiling as he commended:

"You did well, Leon."

"Heh, I tried my best." Leon's face beamed in delight after receiving praise, and even Ellahan shook her head at how simple her lover was. Fortunately, Leon recovered, shaking his head and desperately reporting:

"Amon! Starfall has been cast! We will need to destroy that throne to stop him from summoning more meteors."

"I know," Amon nodded, understanding what needed to be done. "For now, you protect Ellahan and the Holy Grail. We can't let them get their hands on it again."

With Amon awake, he now took over the role as Commander of Eldorin, which gave him the authority to order Leon as he pleased. At the same time, he turned to three juggernauts behind him and said:

"Sir Kassadin, Sir Manon. Please take care of the meteors in the sky."

"... We won't be able to stop all of them."

"I know," Amon sighed. "Just eliminate half of them to mitigate the damage."

"That we can do."

The Sword Saint and the Sky Spear looked at each other and immediately leapt into the sky. It seemed ludicrous to get two mortals to stop a meteor storm, but Amon had complete faith in those two superhumans. As for the last remaining one…

"Grandpa Alrock. Get the Hyades High Council to evacuate everyone in the capital. It will be difficult to save everyone, but let's try to save as many people as we can."

"Hah… I've already contacted them. The young'uns are already coordinating an escape."

"Please help them. If you can deflect some meteors, at least we can secure an evacuation route."

"... sure."

Alrock held his greatsword, thinking of refusing Amon's request. But as he recalled the trascendental power that Amon displayed just moments prior, he shook his head and moved to execute his task.

"Stay safe, don't overestimate yourself."

"I won't."

Amon didn't look back as he sent the three most powerful individuals away from the battlefield, leaving him and Yue alone to face the full force of the Demon Cult.

The Apostles, the Demon Counts, the Chaos Doll legions, and even gates that summoned even more demons… Amon stood alone against that indomitable force.

No, he wasn't alone now.

"Amon, don't even try sending me away."

Yue walked to his side as if it were the most natural thing in the world. Amon broke the rules of the battlefield and took his eyes away from the enemy, giving Yue a loving smile.

"Even if I did, would you listen?"

"Hehe, you know me so well."

"So…"

Amon unsheathed Nyx, allowing its black glimmer to colour the battlefield. His Nine Moons and Seven Suns orbited around him, creating an invisible pressure that could make even Gods breathless. Even the Solaris Saint, who had remained silent for the longest time, whistled in pure disbelief while Amon chose to show his full power.

"Demon Cult… Our war ends today."
