Chapter 273 273: The Married Couple (1)
Chapter 273 273: The Married Couple (1)
Amon and Yue spent the rest of the day… no, the rest of the week, exploring the fragile, exhilarating world of their new intimacy.
At first, they were clumsy—an inexperienced pair still learning how to approach one another without rushing, without letting excitement override tenderness. But as the days passed, they fell into a steady rhythm.
They weren't veterans by any means, yet both were in the prime of their lives—especially Amon, whose extraordinary physique far surpassed that of ordinary humans.
Yue, on the other hand, had dreamed of this moment for over twenty years.
Even in her previous life, the future she longed for most was a quiet one beside Amon. She had prepared for it in her own way—reading books, listening to the advice of more experienced women, and imagining, just occasionally, what it might be like to share that closeness with him.
Now, all that anticipation blossomed into reality.
It didn't take long for the two of them to learn what gestures, what embraces, brought the other the most joy.
Amon, despite looking like a figure carved from stone, had unexpected vulnerabilities that only Yue could coax out with her soft, knowing touch. And Yue, ever expressive, reacted to even the gentlest caress; every sigh and shiver from her made it impossible for Amon not to draw her closer.
Only after a whole week of seclusion and overflowing affection did the two finally allow themselves to rest—content, breathless, and closer than ever before.
"Yue, shall we prepare to return? I'm sure Leon and the rest are worried sick."
"Mmmm, just a day or two more."
Yue stretched her pure white body languidly, holding back a yawn. She felt sore all over, and it wasn't from sleeping on the bed too long. After all, the pair didn't sleep much.
"Tomorrow, and that's final."
As much as Amon wished to pamper his lover and stay forever in their newfound haven, there was still much work to do. Organising the fragments of the Hyades Republic was enough work, yet they had to plan for the Demon Cult and the resurrection of the Titans.
There were just so many things to do.
"Alright, but let's laze around for a moment."
Yue was tempted to go a dozen more rounds but decided against it. Chances like this to truly rest and not care about anything but each other came rarely. So instead of wasting time on endless copulation, Yue decided to focus on something more important.
Leaning her head on his lap, Yue let her white hair flow seamlessly around the bed while she gently caressed Amon's abdomen. Unlike before, Amon didn't shy away; instead, he quite enjoyed the touch.
Reciprocating in kind, Amon placed his palm over Yue's crown and gently brushed her hair.
This tender act revealed their love for each other, as their hearts were united in that moment. And as much as Yue wished to remain in this stasis forever, she reluctantly opened her mouth to break the peace:
"Amon, once everything is done… Once we defeated the Demon Cult and brought peace to the world… What do you wish to do?"
"What do I wish to do?"
Amon paused, unsure of how to answer. He'd always been chasing the dream of peace, but never had he thought of what to do once that peace was achieved. But it didn't take long for him to come with an answer.
"I want… to read as many books as I can."
"Read? Hah, why's that?"
"I don't know," Amon let out a serene smile. "That's what I like. Isn't that enough?"
Even back in his days as Number 23, Amon had a love of reading. Mainly fictions such as [Bright], but he would also delve into historical books to learn more about influential figures. Upon reflection, it was probably due to his obsession with heroes.
"Heh, you're absolutely right."
"Maybe, I'll even write my own story."
"Oh? That I would be looking forward to, haha."
Yue chuckled while nuzzling her cheeks on Amon's thick thigh.
"What about you, Yue? Once this is over, what will you do?"
"Me? Haven't I told you that multiple times before?"
Hearing Yue's response, Amon couldn't help but flush red. She was right; Yue had explicitly said she wanted to marry Amon and start a family. And no matter how time changed, her goal remained constant.
"Other than that, of course! A family isn't the only thing that matters in life, right?"
"Hmmm, I think raising fifteen children would be quite a challenge, though?"
"F-Fifteen? Do you think I'm a breeding stallion?" Amon was flabbergasted beyond belief. "Also, I doubt your body could handle fifteen kids."
"Haha, I'm joking of course~"
Yue laughed it off, but Amon could tell there was a tinge of truth in her words. She may not plan to have as many as fifteen kids, but she'll definitely try to have as many as she can.
Leaving that aside, Yue started to seriously contemplate her life as she rested her chin on Amon's lap.
"I think… I would like to travel the world. For most of my previous life, I watched the world fall into ruin. So, I would like to see the places I protected with my own two eyes."
"I see…"
Amon nodded thoughtfully.
"Then we're aligned, aren't we? I want to read and write about the world, while you want to see it."
"Heh, so we're going on a worldwide tour?"
"Once this is all over, yes."
There wasn't a need for a promise or to plan logistics. As long as Amon and Yue wished, the world would bend to their will. After all, who could stop the current most powerful couple in the world from doing as they pleased?
"Then, I will start planning. I wonder if our kids would enjoy the tour, though? I would want them to have a good education, but there's no need to force them, right?"
Usually, Amon would feel annoyed by Yue's long rants, but now… he found them alluring.
And it wasn't until much later that the pair finally decided to make their return to Zephys.
❖❖❖
About two weeks had passed since Amon and Yue left the capital for Leon and the rest of Eldorin to clean up. Initially, the work was chaotic as Amon purged the corrupt officials religiously. Although it was a good thing, it left a vacuum in the administration, particularly when it came to rebuilding the half-destroyed capital.
Fortunately, the Solaris House and many other houses provided the resources, mainly in the form of talented manpower, to help with the rebuild.
Leon's role as Commander of Eldorin was mainly to intimidate the remaining government officials to behave while giving hope to those who were displaced from their homes.
Ellahan was also working hard by his side, mainly to heal the injured and help them gain confidence with the Holy Church once more.
Though that proved to be a far greater hurdle than expected, as a new religious sect secretly formed.
Not one that worshipped the Goddess Hyades. And neither did they worship the Demon King.
The one they worshipped… was the man who destroyed a meteor to save their lives.
"The Church of Amon… They're getting quite restless."
Leon rubbed his head with a half-amused, half-incredulous smile.
"Usually, we would charge them with blasphemy… but, the Holy Church's image isn't that good right now."
Ellahan shared Leon's sigh. If the Saintess of the Holy Church, whose image was at an all-time low now, targeted regular civilians who were simply practising their right to freedom of religion, their reputation would plummet.
But still… the newly found Church of Amon was getting too rowdy and overbearing.
"They're even demanding we reveal Amon's whereabouts."
"They found an idol to worship in their darkest time. Naturally, they will try and cling to it as best they can."
Leon explained while waving his arm.
"Just leave them be. They will have to calm down eventually. I just worry what would Amon's reaction be like."
"What are you talking about?"
When you speak of the devil, he answers.
Amon strode into Leon's chambers, stunning the Hero and Saintess pair. Leon in particular, jumped from his seat and shot his friend and mentor a begrudging look.
"Amon! Where have you been?!"
"A-Ah, Yue and I decided to take a short break."
"Urgh, I mean, you guys deserve it, but still… Couldn't you give us a heads up?"
"Yeah, I'll do that next time."
Amon scratched the back of his head and settled onto the couch. Without a hint of hesitation, almost as if it were the most natural thing in the world, Yue curled up beside him, resting her pearly face against his shoulder and blissfully ignoring everything else around her.
That simple, intimate gesture made Leon and Ellahan exchange raised brows. Their gazes then drifted—no, snapped—to Amon and Yue's intertwined fingers, where a pair of wedding bands gleamed softly.
Realisation hit them like a falling comet.
"Amon… You and Yue got married?"
"Hmmm? Ah, it just happened that way."
"Congratulations! You finally got your wish, Sister Yue!"
Ellahan was the first to step up and offer her congratulations. Yue beamed like a shy maiden, subtly flashing her ring with every action she took.
"Ouf, I guess those Amon fanatics would cry tears of blood now."
"Amon fanatics?"
At Leon's new term, Amon and Yue tilted their heads in confusion. Leon quickly explained what had occurred during their absence, particularly the appearance of a new religion, and that made Yue blast out in anger.
"How dare they?! Even I hadn't thought of that… no, I mean! I'm the only one who can worship him!"
"... aren't you just overprotective?"
"Unforgivable! I will have to educate them properly! Leave it to me!"
"..."
Amon, Leon and Ellahan paused, unable to stop Yue from running out of the chambers in complete anger. Sighing while shaking his head, Amon turned to Leon:
"Leave her… For now, let's focus on the task at hand."
Amon's deep voice resonated within the room as he asked:
"The Herald… Where is she?"
