The Extra Can't be A Hero

Chapter 285: Demon Prince Vol’giman (3)

Chapter 285: Demon Prince Vol’giman (3)

While Amon and Vol'giman clashed in a battle to the death—each collision tearing Solfea apart—Yue was facing a far more familiar adversary, one she herself had let go only weeks ago.

Isadora stood motionless, breath held, intoxicated by the suffocating pressure radiating from the Demon Prince she had summoned. The goal she had pursued her entire life now stood before her eyes.

So valiant.

So overwhelmingly dominant.

Just as she had always dreamed.

Vol'giman's power was worthy of awe—no, it was the only thing worthy of her devotion.

The mere thought of binding herself to him, of bearing his legacy, sent a tremor through her soul. The Apostle of Lust resonated fully with that desire, and her power surged violently in response. In doing so, she hastened her descent into demonic madness.

From the very beginning, Isadora had possessed the greatest potential among the Apostles. She alone pursued her desires without restraint, without shame, without hesitation.

Yet until now, that potential had been shackled.

Without a Demon Prince in Hyades, her mana had always been suppressed, her ascent incomplete. But now… that seal has been shattered.

Demonic mana erupted from her body in a torrent unlike anything Yue had ever witnessed. Old wounds sealed themselves shut, flesh knitting together as her form gradually twisted into something inhuman. Should she receive the Demon Prince's blessing, it would only be a matter of time before she rose high enough to claim the title of Demon Consort.

The same, however, could not be said for the Pope of the Utopia Church.

"Isadora! You said the Demon Prince would give me Amon! If the battle continues that way, he'll incinerate him!"

Nirvana screamed, afraid that the Demon Prince wouldn't pull back his punches and wipe Amon out of existence. After all, the Pope made a deal with Isadora. He exchanged the lives of all the members in Modsey. His future, his throne, his believers… all to obtain Amon's beautiful soul.

If the Demon Prince reneges on his promise, no… the Demon Prince didn't even make a deal with Nirvana in the first place.

Vol'giman was not bound to their oath, and neither could he be. An existence of his level did as he pleased and there was no way Isadora could bind him. All they could do was summon him and pray that he doesn't kill Amon.

"Don't worry, my lord has found his toy. He won't let Amon die that easily."

Isadora reassured Nirvana with a smile all while glancing down at the silent Yue.

"And even if he dies… we can always resurrect him and torment his soul."

"Hey, he's mine you hear! I'm not going to share!"

Isadora and Nirvana were clearly taunting Yue, thinking that Amon's defeat was already a certainty. The Apostle of Lust, in her arrogance and haughtiness, saw Yue's silence as an admission of defeat and continued to taunt:

"What about it, my dear niece? How about you sell your soul to me? That way, I will torture your soul with your husband's for eternity! Isn't that a good deal?"

"Heh, I don't care for her, but having a beautiful soul by my side does sound tempting. Also, I would get to feel Amon's emotions more clearly if I make you suffer in front of him! Heh, that does sound thrilling!"

The pair were already parading around like a victory march, but Yue just replied with a sneer.

"How very stupid of you. You really think too much of your Demon Prince."

"Hmph! Blasphemy!"

Isadora summoned her strongest Demon Familiar, a giant boar with flaming tusks, and sent a surge of demonic mana flying right at Yue. Empowered by thunder and lightning, it would have eviscerated an entire mountain with a single blow. But Yue simply warped spacetime around her, isolating the attack with her control over Law.

"Tch, that annoying Law ability. I'm surprised the Goddess hasn't smited you down by now."

"As if I would let that bitch who betrayed her planet do anything to me."

"... you knew?"

"It wasn't hard to connect the dots."

Yue scoffed, and reality answered.

A vast array of law-bound spells unfolded around her, not formed of mana alone, but of command.

Space stiffened, sound dulled, and even causality hesitated, as though the world itself were bracing for judgment. At Eight Circles, Yue had already stood at the summit of what a mage could achieve—or so history insisted.

But since her regression, she had pursued something that no magician, no scholar, no god-sanctioned being had ever dared.

She did not merely wield magic.

She engraved law into her circles, turning each one into a clause of existence.

Bit by bit, she had wrapped her own heart in concepts that were never meant to reside within flesh—order, finality, inevitability. Any ordinary human would have collapsed the instant such absolutes brushed their soul.

Yue endured only by slowly strangling herself with them, forcing her body and spirit to accept what the universe itself feared to contain. The Mysterious Grimoire acted as both map and restraint, guiding her through thresholds where meaning dissolved and identity blurred.

Even so, every advance was a step closer to self-erasure.

When Yval first saw this path, the ancient Dragon—whose memory stretched back to the birth of eras—had spoken a single verdict: lunatic.

And she was right.

But madness had its rewards.

What now stood before Isadora and Nirvana was not a mage who had reached the end of arcane knowledge. Nor even the greatest magician to ever live. She was a walking contradiction—a mortal vessel containing principles that belonged only to the cosmos.

She was a demigod who had not inherited divinity, nor stolen it from heaven's mandate, but forced existence to accept her claim.

A mortal who had bound law to her soul—and in doing so, stepped beyond the reach of gods.

Now, as she was, even the Goddess couldn't touch her.

Before, she had to hide her abilities, fearing not the Demon Cult or the Titans, but the Goddess Hyades herself. It was only after she helped Yval ascend to the rank of Dragon Goddess did Yue finally unlock the final shackle. With her current ability, even without divine providence, Yue was just like the Titans of old.

A being bound to the planet.

And there was nothing that the Goddess Hyades could do about her.

"Y-You!"

"H-Hey, let me go!"

With Yue revealing her true power, there was nothing Isadora and Nirvana could do. They were shackled by ethereal cloud ropes, and forced to their knees. All of their demonic mana was released and they reverted back to their human form. For the planet rejects foreign mana, and Yue, being the Champion for the planet, was now the ultimate inquisitor.

"Do you repent?"

"... You, what is this?"

"Well, what do you think?"

Yue laughed and started to explain: "My dear aunt. You know… I regressed."

"!!!"

Yue gazed into the distance as she began to reminisce. The reason why she was willing to confess everything to the woman was quite simple… She had no intention of letting the woman leave alive.

"In my first life, the Demon Cult won. Our cities burned, humanity fell, and the Demons infested our lands just like your Prophet's grand dream."

"..."

"In the beginning, I was stunned. How could the Goddess, the true overlord of our dimension, allow this to happen? Was she weakened? Did she fight against the Demon King and lose? How did she lose the mandate of heaven despite her invincibility?"

Yue looked down at her Mysterious Grimorie and let out a heavy sigh.

"If not for this artefact, I would have been blind…"

When she uncovered the truth, Yue nearly went insane. The Mysterious Grimoire showed her something that she hadn't even once fathomed.

"And that's when I realised… No, the Goddess didn't lose the mandate of heaven. She was never weakened. In fact, she grew stronger. All by betraying the denizens of her own domain."

That was the truth of the Goddess Hyades.

She wasn't the overlord who ruled the heavens, a benevolent deity who listened to her followers' desires.

Hyades she… was a hoarder.

An usurper, and the god who had opened the doors to her realm for the Demons to invade.

"Did you know, our dimension has been following a vicious cycle. The rise of the Titans, the rise of the Dragons, the rise of humanity… They were all entities who could have ascended to become gods. But why? Why do they always fall?"

"... you mean."

"Over millions of years, the planet could have evolved into a greater realm, just like the Demon Realm. It is the natural progression of every dimension. But, we've been stagnant. Fighting over the false mandate of heaven… doomed to repeat the cycle over and over. Why is that?"

Isadora didn't answer, but Yue wasn't waiting for one. Rather, she looked up at the firmament above and almost in a low growl, she spoke:

"The Goddess Hyades. She doesn't want our planet to ascend into a greater world. She wants to be the sole god who rules the planet and hoards all of our divinity. That's why she caused the fall of the Titans. That's why she sowed the seeds of the Great Dragon War. That's why… she opened the floodgates for Demons to arrive. Just so no one can threaten her throne."

"T-That…"

"The Clay Emperor, the man who lived in a realm before the Titans, never heard of Hyades. Why is that? If you think about it, it's quite obvious actually. Because she was never the sole god of our planet. In the war at the start of the world, she seized sole possession over the mandate and weakened our planet with pointless civil strife. All so that she could prevent our planet from evolving."

"..."

"But the will of our dimension isn't the will of Hyades. It wishes to evolve and therefore, it did something that not even Hyades could have noticed."

Yue's gaze lingered on Amon as he gained a large amount of divinity, and he stood toe-to-toe against the Demon Prince, a feat no human could ever hope to match.

Even Isadora, who had full faith in Vol'giman's power, was stunned silent by Amon's burst of strength.

That wasn't a mortal.

It was a God.

"The planet sent one soul… the soul which was meant to become its judge and the divine presence of the moon, to another dimension. That soul would hide from Hyades, nurture itself to maturity and grow outside her omniscience. The planet also wrote a record of the future Hyades yearned to create and showed that to him. So that when he returned, he could defy Hyades and gain the divinity he was born to inherit."

"Y-you can't mean!"

"That's right… That's the tale of Amon the Great."

Yue smiled lovingly at the man who managed to push the Demon Prince back once more, flashing her pearly white teeth.

"That's the story of Amon… The true inheritor of the planet's will."
