The Extra Can't be A Hero

Chapter 292: The Return of the Titans (3)

Chapter 292: The Return of the Titans (3)

Solfea was in the midst of a sweeping reconstruction.

The Demon Prince's assault had been catastrophic—vast stretches of the Solaris House's centuries-old infrastructure lay in ruins, and several thousand lives had been lost in the chaos. Yet, when measured against the calibre of their enemy, the damage could only be described as merciful.

Fewer than ten per cent of the Solaris Knights had fallen, and every Commander survived, most bearing nothing more than minor injuries.

Some, like Carmen Solaris, were left deeply shaken—not by wounds of flesh, but by the terrifying gulf she had glimpsed between herself and the Demon Prince.

Even so, by every strategic measure, it was an overwhelming victory for the Solaris House.

With its immense wealth and the unwavering support of its allies, Solfea's restoration was already underway and promised to be swift.

Towers would rise again, wards would be reforged, and the scars of battle would soon fade from the city's skyline.

Yet looming over all of this was an undeniable truth—an elephant in the room no one could ignore.

Amon Solaris had ascended to a level of power never before witnessed in the history of the Solaris House. He had already stood at the apex of humanity, but his defeat of a Demon Prince had shattered all prior expectations. His name now carried a weight that bordered on myth, and in terms of raw strength alone, there were scarcely any beings left alive who could stand against him.

Which was why…

"So you eloped from the Holy Church?"

Seated behind his desk, Amon fixed his gaze on the two figures across from him.

One was the familiar blonde-haired Adonis, Leon, who seemed constitutionally incapable of imperfection. His expression was dazzlingly bright, carrying the air of a child caught stealing from the cookie jar, fully confident that his indulgent parents would only laugh it off.

The other was the emerald-haired Saintess. She sat stiffly, fingers twisting in her lap, her unease plain to see. Unsure how to comport herself before the man now acknowledged as the strongest in the world, she avoided meeting his eyes for more than a heartbeat.

Leon, however, appeared entirely unburdened by such pressure. With a grin that bordered on irreverent, he spoke brightly:

"That's right, so please take care of us, Commander!"

"... Leon aside, we could have a diplomatic issue if we kept the Saintess in Solfea when the Holy Church demands her return."

Amon could already hear the Pope of the Holy Church demanding Ellahan's return, and may even sanction the Holy Church until they agree.

"I'm sure you can do something about it! Ella is a member of Eldorin as much as she's the Saintess!"

"That's true, but… We don't have to antagonise the Holy Church when we're already in a vulnerable position."

"Heh, as the current strongest person in the world, can't you just tell them to stay away?"

Leon joked, and Amon's eyebrows twitched. Yes, given Amon's new status, he could say the word, and no one in the Solaris House would deny him. No, scratch that, even the Holy Church would back off, knowing how powerful Amon truly was.

Not to mention, Amon was one of the most influential men in the Hyades Republic after he saved the capital from Starfall.

Compared to the Holy Church, whose influence was slipping by the day, Amon's stock was at an all-time high. Even if the Holy Church demanded Ellahan's return, they didn't dare cross Amon and accidentally trigger his wrath.

"L-Leon, it's fine! I-If it's bothering Sir Amon this much, maybe I should return…"

"Hmph, who said I'll let you go!"

At that moment, Yue erupted from Amon's side and brought Ellahan into her embrace. The pure and innocent Saintess was flabbergasted that her cheeks were buried between two mountain peaks, and she struggled to breathe as if she were drowning. Leon flushed his cheeks and looked away, while Amon sighed and said:

"Yue, let her go."

"Eh, not until you promise to keep my precious little Ella safe!"

"Safe? You're the one suffocating her?"

"S-Sister Yue… I-I can't breathe…"

"See? Look at this poor thing! She's suffocating from the pressure the Holy Church is forcing on her! Don't you feel sad for her?"

"..."

Amon shook his head before finally relenting.

"Alright, the Saintess can return to Eldorin. But, Leon, you'll be in charge of keeping her safe. The Holy Church won't remain quiet, and I can't protect her all the time."

"Y-Yes, of course!"

Leon immediately rescued Ellahan before she lost consciousness in Yue's bosom and followed Amon's order. Though the first person he rescued Ellahan from wasn't the Holy Church, but the ethereal beauty who acted like a mother bear that was strangling its cub.

"Well, the Saintess matter aside, I'm glad you're back safe and sound." Amon smiled as he gave Leon his regards.

"I'm the one who is glad you're safe," Leon returned Amon's hug. "Do you know how worried I was when I heard the Demon Prince attacked you? I wanted to rush back at that very moment. But, by the time news came to me, you've already resolved it."

"Well, I couldn't actually wait for you to come," Amon answered warmly. "But, I'm glad you're back now. We have important matters to discuss."

"What is it?"

"Yue."

Amon called upon his wife-to-be, and she nodded, enveloping the four of them in a soundproof bubble. Realising the severity of what was about to be shared, Leon and Ellahan sterned their expressions, and the matter of the Holy Church was buried in the recesses of their minds.

"The Demon Empire is gaining influence, but we actually have a bigger problem at hand."

"What is that?"

"The Titans have returned."

"Titans?"

"Yes, the beings that the Dragon Progenitors fought a long time ago… And the masters of Thalassa itself."

"!!!"

And then, Amon and Yue began to narrate the history of the world to the young couple. For obvious reasons, they left out the part where the Goddess Hyades had betrayed the planet, but they explained everything else.

He spoke of an ancient age, when the Titans ruled the planet as unquestioned sovereigns, beings of such overwhelming might that even the laws of the world bent beneath their footsteps.

In that primordial era, the Dragon Progenitors rose in defiance, waging a war not merely for survival, but for the right to claim divinity itself.

Yet victory came at an unbearable cost.

The Titans were too deeply entwined with the planet's foundation; to slay them outright would have unravelled the natural order, shattering ley lines, collapsing continents, and plunging the world into irreversible ruin.

Faced with that terrible truth, the Dragon Progenitors made a desperate choice.

Rather than destroy the Titans, they sealed the most powerful among them within the Necropolis of the Gods, a graveyard explicitly forged for them, where even divinity could decay.

To ensure the prison would never be breached, Yval, the Golden Dragon Progenitor, sacrificed herself, sealing her own soul alongside the entombed Titans.

Bound eternally to the Necropolis, she became its warden, her will standing watch over gods and monsters alike.

And at last, the final revelation was laid bare.

The Herald had been orchestrating events from the shadows.

Every war, every alliance, every tragedy had been a calculated step toward the Necropolis of the Gods. For she was no servant of destiny at all, but a Titan in disguise, patiently guiding mortals and immortals alike toward a single goal: the resurrection of her kin, so that the Titans might rise once more and reclaim dominion over the world.

And if her plan succeeded, the Titans would eradicate humanity and restore the planet to its primordial state.

"Goddess above! Is that really true!?"

"..."

Ellahan and Leon's faces turned sombre after hearing everything that Amon knew.

If Amon's words were true, then the Demon Empire was a little more than a nuisance compared to the Titans. If they wanted to protect the future, they needed to eradicate the Titans.

"Don't worry too much," Yue shook her head and reassured them. "We've been planning for this day for a while now. Sister Yval may have been injured, but she'll recover. In the meantime, we have been separating the Titans' divinities from their physical bodies. While they are still powerful, it's nowhere near their absolute prime. Amon himself should be able to deal with a few of them."

"The problem is… I'm only one person. And from our count, there should be about seven Titans."

"Including the Herald, it would be eight," Yue added. "But, she's far too weak to count as an actual threat. The ones we need to be wary about are the seven Titans that have awakened."

Amon warned grimly.

"I can handle them in a one-on-one battle, maybe even two-on-one… Yue is the same. But what if all of them came at us at once? No matter how powerful we are, we can't beat seven primordial gods."

Amon was confident in his own abilities, but he was no fool.

Fighting against one Titan would prove to be a significant toll, let alone seven.

"So, we're going to need stronger support."

"You mean?"

"Yes, we're going to train people who can become successors of the Titans' divinities." Amon smiled.

"The Sword Saint has reserved one slot, and we're thinking of adding more… and you're one of them, Leon."

"Me?"

"Ella, you too."

"Me too?!"

If Leon was gobsmacked, Ellahan was completely stunned speechless by Amon and Yue's revelation.

"But we don't have much time, so… luckily Yue has something special prepared for all of you."

"G-Gulp."

As the pair watched the evil glint in Amon's eyes, they realised the bitter truth…

They should have just obediently stayed in Hyarum.
