Chapter 327: The Great Fall (5)
Chapter 327: The Great Fall (5)
Amon and Yue returned to Solfea with the rest of the group.
No one spoke. No one even dared to.
They stood there—shivering, shaken to their core—still reeling from what they had just witnessed.
Two absolute existences.
The first was Hyades—the very deity worshipped across the world.
A being believed to be benevolent, distant, and untouchable… had revealed herself in the most horrifying way possible. By possessing Ellahan. And not only that… she had taken the four divinity cores meant for Leon, Manon, Ellahan, and the Sword Saint… And crushed them.
Not to gain power, but to shatter the dimensional boundary protecting their world.
And from beyond that shattered boundary… Came the second.
The Demon King.
Alongside him, an endless tide of Demon Nobles surged forward.
Their presence alone twisted reality, and the moment their demonic mana seeped into the world, everything began to change. The air grew heavy. The land darkened. Life itself began to distort. Corruption spread like a disease.
It felt unreal.
Like something out of a nightmare… or a story meant to terrify children.
Except they had experienced it.
Had it not been for the protection of Amon and Yue—who shielded them with their divinity—the mere presence of those beings would have shattered their minds completely.
They would have gone mad, or worse… collapsed into nothing.
Even now, the lingering pressure clung to their souls, refusing to fade.
The group struggled to breathe, their bodies still reacting to something they could not fully comprehend. And then, someone moved.
Alrock.
The Solaris Lord exhaled sharply, his chest heaving as he forced himself out of his dazed stupor. His eyes, though still shaken, slowly regained focus as he looked upon the others. He was the first to recover. And the weight of what had just happened settled heavily upon him.
"T-That was… the Goddess?"
"N-No way… W-Why did she destroy the divinity cores?"
"A-And that was… the Demon Realm, right? Demons right? The Goddess summoned Demons?!"
The silence did not last. One by one, disbelief broke through.
Voices trembled. Questions overlapped. Denials slipped through clenched teeth.
Some among them had been devout, faithful followers who had prayed to Hyades since childhood. Others had not been as fervent, but still carried a quiet respect for the divine figure who stood at the pinnacle of their world.
But none of them… Not a single one… Had ever truly rejected her.
The Goddess was real.
That had never been in doubt.
Even as the Holy Church grew unstable in recent years—its authority wavering after the rise of the Demon Cult—no one here had gone so far as to denounce her existence or her authority. Because to them, she was absolute.
Untouchable.
And yet… What they had just witnessed shattered everything.
The Goddess had descended.
Not to save them. Not to guide them. But to betray them.
To seize the very divinity meant to protect their world… and use it to break the barrier between realms. To open the gates for the Demon King. To bring ruin upon her own creation. The thought alone felt impossible. Unthinkable. And yet it had happened.
Right before their eyes.
Shock spread through both factions—the Solaris Commanders and the members of Eldorin alike—but even their disbelief paled in comparison to one presence.
A presence that had remained silent until now.
Deep within Ascalon, a soul stirred. Agios Solaris. The Solaris Saint. The one who had once stood closest to the Goddess. The one rumoured to sit on the right hand of the Goddess.
Of everyone present… She was the one most shaken by what had just transpired.
"... What on earth? Hyades?"
Within Ascalon, Agios's voice trembled. Leon, angered and worried for Ellahan's safety, quickly yelled out within his mind.
"Senior! What's going on?!"
"I-I don't know… During my time, Hyades hated the Demons. She gave me unlimited power to eradicate them and to drag them back to hell. So why, Hyades… What are you thinking?"
Agios was befuddled. Hyades was staunchly against the Demons, so much so that Agios believed she would descend personally to eradicate every single one of them if she had the opportunity. Yet, that very same Goddess had invited the Demon King to personally invade their realm.
"The Goddess, huh? I didn't think that she was that crazy."
Idrytis Solaris, the Solaris Founder, spoke grimly within Leon's mind.
"... have you had experience with her?"
"Once," the Solaris Founder answered the Solaris Saint's question. "When she bestowed holy power upon Ascalon, I heard her voice. At first, I was reluctant to let her bless the sword I painstakingly obtained, but I didn't see any demerit. If I had known this was our fate, I wouldn't have allowed her to bless Ascalon."
"She's the Goddess! She shouldn't be against us!"
The Solaris Saint was still defending the Goddess, mainly because of her prior experience with her. She was once considered the Goddess's right hand after all. But, unfortunately, she was on the wrong side of history this time.
Yue, finally recovering from the shock that Hyades had put her through, finally addressed everyone's concern.
"The Goddess has betrayed humanity… no, she betrayed the world."
There was no hiding it, not that Yue had any intention to anyway. It was unthinkable, but it was the unfortunate truth.
"We can no longer trust the Holy Church or any of the Goddess's blessings. She has waged war against us and is on the side of the Demons."
"..."
"But… why?"
Someone muttered out in a voice so soft that even a bee's flight was louder. Yet, everyone heard the whisper, the silent prayer of denial.
"No one knows what is going on in her mind, but that's the truth… and we're going to have to fight the Demons as well as the Goddess now."
"C-Can we even win?"
Venya Vortessa, the God Archer, spoke with a defeated tone. Despite being one of the most powerful humans alive, she was helpless against deities who controlled the planet. The fight against the Titans was the best proof.
Alone, she couldn't even touch or defeat a single Titan.
Yet… they were now against the Goddess?
It was practically impossible.
But…
"We will win."
A voice cut through the unrest.
Not loud. Not forceful.
Yet it drew every gaze without fail.
Amon spoke. The chamber fell silent almost instantly, as if the world itself had chosen to listen. Bathed in pale moonlight, his black hair shimmered faintly, strands catching the silver glow as though touched by the night sky itself. His golden eyes—steady, unwavering—held no trace of doubt, no hint of exhaustion despite everything he had endured.
There was no hesitation in him. Amon's gaze swept across the group, meeting each of them in turn before settling forward once more. And when he spoke again, it was with absolute confidence.
"No, we must win. To rescue Ellahan from the Goddess's possession. To save the planet from the Demonic invasion, and… to save the world."
Amon's eyes landed upon Leon, the promised Hero of the world.
"For this… failure is not an option."
It was a soft declaration, but it reverberated within everyone's hearts. Amon stared silently at everyone before landing two final words:
"To war."
❖❖❖
At the Necropolis of the Gods, the figure of Hyades—wearing the body of Ellahan—stood in silence.
Before her, the fractured boundary between worlds began to mend. The jagged tear in the sky, once wide enough to spill forth nightmares, slowly pulled inward. Shards of broken space drifted back into place as the rift struggled to close, as though the world itself was desperately trying to heal.
Even with the immense power of four Titan divinity cores, the breach could not remain open forever.
At best… It would last an hour.
But that was enough. Because within that single hour, the Demon King had already acted. A vast portion of his legion had crossed over. Demon Nobles. Eldritch abominations. Endless tides of corrupted entities. And with them came something far more insidious… demonic mana.
It poured into the world like a poison, seeping into the land, the air, the very fabric of existence.
Wherever it spread, life twisted. Nature warped. The balance that had held the world together for millennia began to collapse.
By the time the rift fully sealed… The entire northern region would be plunged into chaos.
And the Demon Empire would hold dominion over half the planet.
It was a decisive blow.
The final nail in the coffin for the plans of Amon and Yue.
At the same time, the consequences of the shattered balance were already taking effect. With the boundary between dimensions weakened, Hyades' hold over Ellahan's body deepened.
What had once been a partial possession now became something far more complete.
More stable. More absolute. Though her power in the material world remained limited compared to her true form, it was still far greater than anything she could exert while confined to the heavens.
Here… She could act. She could interfere. She could reshape events directly.
And that alone made her presence a catastrophe.
As the rift continued to close, a shadow loomed beyond it. The immense, incomprehensible presence of Xig'drodan shifted within the grey abyss.
Though his full form could not pass through, his gaze pierced the boundary effortlessly. It fell upon Hyades. And then… He spoke. A voice that carried the weight of something far beyond divinity echoed through the collapsing fracture.
[You have fulfilled the terms of the deal. I will withdraw my presence as promised.]
"..."
Hyades remained silent, but Xig'drodan didn't mind.
[Remember, I won't be able to give you any more assistance. You will be facing those humans alone. Are you confident in beating them?]
"..."
Hyades once again remained silent, but this time, she stared right into the void and met eyes with the dissipating presence of the Demon King. Sucking in a deep breath, she finally spoke with silent authority.
"They will all die."
