Chapter 2001: Chapter 2001: Re-examining Xiaojuan (5)
"Thank you for the reminder, Master He." Yang Ruxin exhaled and stood up straight from Gu Qingheng’s embrace. "I have a clear idea in my mind."
Hen Bingwen nodded slightly, saying nothing more.
"Pretending," someone nearby muttered under their breath.
Yang Ruxin ignored what others were saying, took a deep breath, and knew she had to do it again, certainly having overlooked something.
"Xinxin..." Gu Qingheng looked at his wife’s waxy complexion, instantly filled with worry.
"I’ll re-examine it." Yang Ruxin glanced at Gu Qingheng. "There are no other clues right now; I can only find evidence on the corpse. I can’t allow myself to be wronged without clarity."
"Alright." Gu Qingheng stared into Yang Ruxin’s eyes for a moment, then nodded. He knew this was her obsession, and perhaps he needed to learn medical skills in the future.
Yang Ruxin started examining the body from the beginning again, this time not limited to the stomach.
Upon looking again, she truly found something unusual. Within Wang Zhengzheng’s skull, precisely in the gap between the parietal bone and occipital bone, there was a foreign object. What was this area called in medical terms? The lambdoid suture? It seemed to be called that. Just beneath this suture, there was a small section of about one centimeter long. As for what it was, she couldn’t tell.
The autopsy methods of this era primarily relied on touch, sight, and experience, unlike the advanced instruments of later times where nothing could escape detection. Thus, such a small object hidden in the bone suture was incredibly difficult to spot with the naked eye.
Fortunately, she had an advantage.
"How is it?" Gu Qingheng came over and held her hand.
Yang Ruxin nodded, then looked at Lord Jiang Bo: "Lord Bo, I request to re-question Xiaojuan."
Everyone was taken aback for a moment, but Lord Jiang Bo, along with Gu Qingheng and Guo Hong, discussed briefly and then nodded: "Alright."
The Mistress of Anning County wanted to object but was pulled back by her own son: "Mother, just don’t cause trouble. Now the Emperor has instructed this case to be examined, as long as it’s not outrageous, anything is permitted."
The Mistress of Anning County frowned for a long time but eventually said nothing.
Xiaojuan was puzzled, not understanding why she was called over again, but still obediently knelt.
"Madam Ruyi, is there anything you want to ask?" Lord Jiang Bo glanced at Yang Ruxin.
"Thank you, Lord Bo and the honorable gentlemen." Yang Ruxin nodded and then walked up to Xiaojuan. "Xiaojuan, I know you’re a servant of the Wang Family, having followed Wang Zhengzheng since childhood."
Xiaojuan nodded; this was indeed the case.
"If you really want to find the real murderer, then you must truthfully answer whatever I ask next." Yang Ruxin looked intently at Xiaojuan.
Xiaojuan instinctively nodded.
"On the night of the incident, after your young lady took the medicine pill, did she eat anything else? Did anything out of the ordinary happen?" Yang Ruxin fixated on Xiaojuan. "You’d better think carefully before you speak." The first time she was asked, she claimed nothing was eaten and nothing unusual happened.
"No..." Xiaojuan instinctively wanted to shake her head, but somehow she couldn’t move, her consciousness slowly drifting away. After a moment, she nodded. "The young lady had another cup of tea... then, when she was getting into bed, she seemed to be pricked by something, and her finger bled..."
Everyone sensed there was something unusual.
