Chapter 2251: Chapter 2251: Trouble Occurred (Part 1)
Outside the city, they set three horses free, watching as Xiaobai drove the three horses into the forest. Only then did the three of them stroll into the city. Their mounts were wild horses from the mountains, later tamed, but the wildness still lingered, especially after being nurtured by Yang Ruxin’s space water and various medicine pills. These horses became very intelligent, surely able to take care of themselves, especially with Xiaobai, the king of the forest, accompanying them.
The winter sun sets early, so by the time they entered the city, the sky had already darkened, and some of the shops on either side had already lit their lamps.
"The sky suddenly turned cloudy; maybe it’ll snow tonight," Chai Qin rubbed her hands.
"Yes," Yang Ruxin nodded, "Luckily we’re not traveling tonight; otherwise, if it snowed halfway, we’d freeze to death."
"That’s why they say if you don’t listen to elders, you’ll suffer," Dao Xuzi gave Yang Ruxin a sideways glance, "There’s some truth to that."
"Yes, your wisdom is unparalleled," Yang Ruxin nodded, "It’s my fault; I just miss home too much."
"Oh well, since Gu Qingheng isn’t around, it’s normal for you to be a bit scatterbrained... Here’s a wonton stall; I want wontons," Dao Xuzi sneered at Yang Ruxin, then was attracted by the nearby food stall, "A big bowl."
Yang Ruxin’s mouth twitched; when it comes to food, everything else is forgotten. Dao Xuzi demonstrated this perfectly.
"Boss, three bowls of wontons," despite the teasing, Yang Ruxin sat down as well.
"Alright, please wait a moment," the middle-aged woman running the stall replied with a smile.
"Auntie, are there any inns nearby?" Yang Ruxin casually asked.
"Yes, indeed," the middle-aged woman nodded quickly, "Just turn left at the corner ahead, not far from here. Although it’s a bit pricey, the conditions are good, and wealthy guests usually stay there."
"Madam, I’ll go book two rooms first," Chai Qin suggested, "The wontons will take a while to be ready."
"Alright, if there are rooms, get three," she wasn’t yet comfortable with Du Juan and Du Man like Chai Qin, so better to stay separately.
Chai Qin nodded and left.
The wontons were served quickly, and Yang Ruxin and Dao Xuzi started eating without waiting. Dao Xuzi finished one bowl and even ate Chai Qin’s, saying frankly that they would make more when the girl returned.
However, both of them finished eating, and Chai Qin still hadn’t returned.
Yang Ruxin felt something might have happened, so she hurried to pay the bill and left. Turning the corner, she discovered trouble indeed; Chai Qin was fighting with someone.
Because of the cold, when it gets dark, the streets become empty. Seeing a group of people there caught one’s eye.
Yang Ruxin hurried over, realizing Chai Qin was clearly no match for the opponent and was being suppressed, bound to lose after three to five moves.
"Chai Qin, come back," Yang Ruxin hurriedly shouted.
Seeing Yang Ruxin arrive, Chai Qin felt reassured and tried to retreat, but the opponent wouldn’t allow it, directly pressing on.
Seeing the opponent’s hand about to grab Chai Qin’s shoulder, Yang Ruxin’s face darkened. She stepped forward and swung her whip, aiming directly at the opponent’s face.
The man hadn’t expected Yang Ruxin to be so fierce with her first move, quickly stepped back two paces to dodge the whip, reaching out to grab it.
