Chapter 2393: Chapter 2393: Priceless Treasure (Part 1)
"This girl still has a conscience," Qi Jingyi’s lips remained curved upward. "Oh well, considering your thoughtfulness, I shall return the favor with a gift for you." With that, he called Weng Ji in.
"Master."
"Take this to Wei Yao," Qi Jingyi took off a thumb-sized red jade pendant from around his neck and handed it over. "Tell her to keep it safe for me. When I return victorious, I’ll be inspecting it, and if there’s even a bit of damage, there will be consequences."
"Prince?" Weng Ji frowned, "But this is..."
"Go on." Qi Jingyi waved his hand, clearly not wanting to hear Weng Ji’s chatter.
Weng Ji could only sigh before turning to leave.
Qi Jingyi let out a breath. He knew he was being impulsive and that it might be somewhat unfair to Wei Yao, but he didn’t want to miss the chance with a girl who reminded him somewhat of Xinxin. Moreover, he hoped his residence in the future would be filled with laughter, not scheming and intrigues.
However, he knew that marrying Wei Yao was fraught with difficulties. Fortunately, his status was not too significant, and he didn’t seek more power, so these difficulties could be overcome with some maneuvering.
With Brother Crown Prince and Xinxin’s help, it might be much easier, so sending a message as a heads-up seemed fitting.
Wei Yao was momentarily surprised when Weng Ji suddenly appeared in front of her, but she wasn’t overly shocked. She knew that people of high status often had experts by their side, and Xinxin had quite a few too. She was just curious about why he came.
Weng Ji looked at the composed woman before him, set down the item, and seriously conveyed Qi Jingyi’s words.
"I..." Wei Yao wanted to refuse, this was considered a private exchange after all.
"Miss Wei," Weng Ji did not give her a chance to refuse, "this item is priceless to our Prince; I hope you will keep it safe." And with that, he disappeared.
Wei Yao held the jade pendant at the doorway, but there was no sight of anyone. She had to return; although this red chicken blood jade was precious and the pendant’s craftsmanship exquisite, it was not of the highest quality. She wondered why the other side said it was priceless.
"Who cares?"
She tossed the jade pendant into a basket.
But quickly felt it inappropriate, hastily picked it up again, thought for a moment, and hung it around her neck. No matter what happens in the future, she’ll keep it as a memento.
The third day of the Lunar New Year was still a day of celebration for the whole world, but Qi Jingyi set out on a journey early in the morning.
When Yang Ruxin received Qi Jingyi’s message, Yu Qingge and Fang Tianze had just entered the door.
According to local customs, after sending off the New Year’s greetings on the second day, the third day was when married daughters returned to their parental homes. Yu Qingge considered the Yang Family her parental home, so she returned early on the third day.
"Sister, did you miss me?" Yu Qingge shouted as soon as she entered, "Did you prepare a red envelope for me?"
"Our red envelopes." Just as she reached the second gate, she was blocked by Sanni, who was leading a group of little ones. "No entry without them."
"No entry for little ones either," Sanni added.
"Red envelope," Erya and Zhou Ying stretched out their small hands, looking at Yu Qingge and Fang Tianze, who followed behind.
"You little rascals, you’re really..." Yu Qingge said, half laughing, half crying.
Inside the house, Yang Ruxin put away the letter, looked at Chai Qin, "You did well this time. Do you want to continue earning merits?"
"Yes," Chai Qin widened her eyes.
