Chapter 2558: Chapter 2558: Too Late (Part 4)
"I’m amazed at how this little guy is already showing signs of surpassing his parents," Yang Ruxin cast a sidelong glance at her husband.
"Absolutely," Gu Qingheng looked at his son, "If he’s not better than his dad, why would I want a useless son?"
Yang Ruxin’s mouth twitched.
Hei Dou seemed to sense something, turned his head, and called out to Gu Qingheng twice, waving his little fist as if in protest.
Gu Qingheng waved his fist back at him.
But Hei Dou turned his head away, ignoring him.
Gu Qingheng’s face darkened. This little rascal, how did he become so clever?
Yang Ruxin couldn’t help but laugh quietly.
The three-month-old babies were still soft, but these three little ones could already hold their heads up and look around, as if knowing it was their special day, appearing especially lively. They smiled at everyone who looked their way.
Yang Ruxin went over and touched each of their little hands, then let the two mothers and Granny Huang each hold one and wander around the hotel.
Everyone was charmed by the cuteness of these three little beans, especially the elders, who couldn’t help but comment on how well the children had grown and would surely achieve great things in the future.
Yang Ruxin didn’t care much about great achievements; she just hoped they would grow up healthy, happy, and well-adjusted.
However, everyone’s favorite activity was guessing the identities of the two baby girls, debating which was Lun Dou and which was Huang Dou. Some even argued till their faces turned red, causing everyone to break into laughter.
"Why hasn’t Uncle Xiaowu arrived yet?" Most of the villagers were already here, but Yang Baixiang still hadn’t shown up. He was supposed to fetch Yang Peili alone by carriage.
"No idea," Erni frowned. "He should be here by now. Should we send Ayao to check?"
"It’s fine, let’s wait a bit longer," Yang Ruxin glanced at the hall, where everyone was enjoying tea, snacks, and chatting. It didn’t matter if the feast started a bit late.
Erni said nothing more and turned to greet the guests.
Before long, a carriage stopped in front of Quanshun Building, and Yang Baixiang was the first to hop off.
"What happened?" Pei Xiaoxia hurried over, holding her son, and whispered, "You almost missed the lucky hour."
"It’s a long story; I’ll explain later," Yang Baixiang quietly told his wife.
Pei Xiaoxia didn’t press further and went to the carriage door to help Yang Peili down, followed by Yang Baichuan and his family of three.
Walking into the restaurant, Yang Peili’s eyes darkened for a moment, but there was nothing he could do. He had brought this on himself. If only back then... never mind, he wouldn’t think about it. Now that Xinxin still thought of him at important occasions and took care of his grandchildren’s education, he was content.
When everyone saw Yang Peili enter, they all stood up to greet him. After all, he was quite old and of high seniority in the village, and with An Family gone for a long time, he had come to terms with things. Therefore, everyone held no grudges. More importantly, they believed in "Blood is thicker than water." Family bonds mattered; after all, he was Xinxin’s grandpa, so no matter what, they would show him respect.
Yang Peili greeted everyone with a smile, feeling proud amid all the compliments about the three little beans, and finally, with a trembling hand, he pulled out a cloth bag and handed it over: "Xinxin, Grandpa doesn’t have much to give, but here’s a little something for the three children, just a gesture from their great-grandfather."
